Great reaction brother. I went thru the same situation as you in my first marriage.....that was 32 yrs ago....took me 14 yrs to trust someone enough again to marry...Been married now for 18 yrs to the most amazing woman I've ever known! Blue October has been the cause of me crying as an adult more than any other reason,but they are cleansing tears,washing away so many feelings I didn't realize I've held on to for all these years. Those tears were needed and allowed me to be the man I am today. #LIFEISBEAUTIFUL❤✌🏽

Seen them/him 4 times. Every time it hits in the deepest parts of me. This band got me through war apart from my family. Luckily I came home whole. I think I owe Justin a bit that I did.
All of Justins sons are about his life...from dealing with depression drug and alcohol addiction, through his divorce and losing his daughter "blue" and all the way to today where hes 10+ years sober, happy, has his kids back in his life.
They just released part 2 of their newest album, and I think you would enjoy the song A Better Man. The video on their official channel is just the song, since its so new, but it's my favorite song of the new album so far. He played it live before it released when I saw them in September and it was amazing.
You should watch the official video of this. Even if on your own. The song is about his ex but the video reimagines it with his mother. It’s intense and more energetic. I love both of them.
Personally, I think the line "How can you do this to me?" wasn't in a narcissist context. We are talking about the singer wanting his mother to forget about him and to even "hate" him. That he thinks she is better off without him. Think of this from his mother's perspective. She loves him unconditionally, as he listed off all the things she did for him and the opening answering machine message. (that was a real message from his mother) And her son wants to walk out of her life forever. I can only imagine what that act does to a mother who loves and supports you unconditionally. The wording hits hard, because of all the things he put her through, trying to cut ties with her was the thing that broke her. So to see and realize that in the moment, when the music dies down, my heart drops too.
Truthfully though, this song is about how his drug addiction and depression damaged his relationship with his past girlfriend, Maime. Which he also wrote “calling you” for her too. These are facts from his mouth himself.
This song makes me feel so sad and so GREAT at the same time. Thanks for your heartfelt reaction.
