Both Val and Derek are excellent choreographers and are able to pass skill onto their partners. When they talked about Kelli's flexibility, she's a yogi, Zendaya(sp sorry) is a hip hop artist, SO different. Val was constantly touching her back to get her to sit or stand straight. What and amazing young woman, their last dance was so much better than Derek and Kelli and I am a Derek fan as well. Val has a huge heart and you can see it when it pulls the best out of his partner. He knows when to be tough and when to back down. Not saying Derek doesn't at all but when you have a young dancer it takes a special person to work with them. Case in point was Season 21 with Emma Slater being paired with Hayes Grier(15), perfect choice and Bindi Irwin (turned 17 that July) with Derek. They're getting younger, running out of willing participants DWTS's?? Lol :0)
Half of the votes come from the public and its was obvious that Kellie had more fans of voting age than Zandaya, plus derek and her were great in a lot of their dances. And derek's choreography has won and Emmy and an Olympic gold medal so don't say that he doesn't have talent, he's one the best on the show.

The awkward moment for everyone was to sit there and have no questions and look like total idiots. While they praise Derek and Kellie all day. Weird how Derek had to through in that she wasn't an athlete or dancer so she had no nature abilities. Yet he was trying to win with one last year. My how we forget. And he won with two dancers previously Nicole and Jennifer. Next season he should win too. And please stop with this, he is leaving,because he said that last year to win.
Thank you. He cried last season about leaving and here he is. He has to leave on a high note. We'd all like to do that. He did copy Melissa and Tony. I heard Kellie used to be a cheerleader...
The missing ingredient was learning from his mistake from last year with Shawn and copying what tony and Melissa did and adding a little emotion to it and wham you have a winning freestyle. I thought it was hype up too much any way. Once the judges love you and praise you on this show every week, it brain washes the audience into voting for you to win on this show. And since most who watch aren't true dancers they can't tell the difference between true talent and cover ups of flaws.
