You are completely right and I think that has to do because of the Baroque tuning system back then, where string instruments were tuned a whole step down from what it is today. So what sounds like a C natural was actually written as a D natural.
@@madisong2607 that's not actually what I meant -- rather that the key signature only has F-sharp (no C-sharps). In other words, that the piece was originally notated in E natural minor. A copy of the original publication is available on imslp.
It's a lovely piece, but I think it has C naturals (not C sharps)...
