If anyone is wondering why this sounds so much like Wintersun, it's because
Jari Mäenpää was still a member of Ensiferum then. The new stuff isn't bad but it lacks a lot of the charm of Ensiferum's early work.
Ensiferum post-Jari and Wintersun are both somehow their own projects that were birthed by a flawed band where everyone had different and differing ideas, yet the two albums they made are unprecedented. Neither band went the right way afterwards. Ensiferum with Jari could have been a legendary metal band up there with Metallica, Iron Maiden, Death, InFlames, Bodom. Nothing against Petri or Marcus or Wintersun, but it's just not... it.

Never has been, either. I mean, maybe yeah, on the basis of talent, they could have been compared but as a composer, Jari is much more knowledgeable and versatile. He's superior to Alexi(and Petri, though I'm a huge fan of him as well) on almost all terms.

"most of Finland was captured by Vikings" I think you should read again... Not to be mean, just saying. Vikings did not live here and they were also slayed by the finns, not only other way around. For example at Nokia, Jaarl Freygeir was killed in the battle and 170 of he's 200 ships were sinked. Finns were not bad warriors against Vikings neither. That heritage later continued in Swedish army Hakkapeliitta troops and against Red Army 1939-1945. These merits makes us proud non-viking warriors.

I love Jari maenpaa and I respected valfar too.Both are great musicians.Valfar and Quorthon live forever in my heart.I listen to them almost everyday apart from falkenbach and nargaroth , tyr or hamradun or shylmagoghnar and others.And wintersun and old ensiferum are my favorites.Hail Jari Maenpaa !

Ensiferum is a great band, and every greatband has it's own sound, but if you like this, you should try Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow, Tyr, Eluveitie, Amon Amarth, Summoning, Heidevolk, Manegarm, Thyrfing, Svartsot, Finntroll,... and perhaps Alestorm, Alestorm is not really pagan but pirate metal =D sounds great ^^
