Black & Decker BPACT14WT: Viewer Question/Update - Dehumidifier Function Explained

One of my viewers posted this question to me and I was curious myself. turns out these portable AC units while they dehumidify, they are not the same as a dedicated dehumidifier. it's important to understand the difference.

For the dehumidifier mode, it's actually not a true dehumidifier. Normally a dehumidifier runs the humid over the evaporator coils to remove the moisture of the air leaving cooler air, but then directs the dry/cool air over its condenser coils to heat the air up before dumping the warmer dry air back into your room. The dehumidifier mode is basically still air conditioning as the unit does not redirect the cool/dry air over the condenser coils. The fan is locked to low speed you cannot change it. It still dehumidifies, but it is also still cooling. Not the worst thing during a hot summer. My apologies I did not touch upon this point in this video, but I did an update on this below.
