I've hot-tanked literally hundreds of Chevy oil pans since 1970, and never had a problem with sludge getting trapped under the baffle. Don't say you can't clean it because you can. Also, if the filter plugged, the oil would have gone through the bypass to keep the engine oiled. Your story is beginning to smell a little funny.

Before you question my integrity, maybe you should go back and listen to the entire video and read the other comment discussions. Thank you for visiting Hillbilly Garage.

The pleasure is all in hot tanking, rebuilding, and first startup of a clean like new engine. Take that junk to the machine shop and get it cleaned and reassembled. Sitting around scratching your head ain't accomplishing shiite now is it? ;)

@@fordcobraone I really appreciate you visiting Hillbilly Garage and I hope you keep coming back. The whole point of the channel is to help figure out what all can be done by the individual, at home on a budget. My mistake was not buying a new oil pan. Everything else was 100% cleaned, by me in my garage. I am pretty sure a trip to the machine shop for hot tank and jet wash would cost more than a $30 oil pan (brand new) off marketplace. Thank you for the information and hopefully we all learn from this.

@@Hillbillygarage1215 I paid $40 for a hot tank and $40 to install some new Clevite cam bearings. Lord knows I am not a cam bearing person as I wasted money on the first set of bearings and the tool. (damaged one).. Lesson learned!! Have a good one!

@@fordcobraone that is unfortunate, I hope you give it another try. I mean you have the tool now so you are already half way there. I discovered it is very important to keep the expander tight in bearing. I found that sometimes it loosens a bit as you hit it with the hammer. For some strange reason I enjoy R&R cam bearings.
