Fun fact: The Iron Giant was sent to Earth by an advanced Alien Civilisation as a scout to prepare for an alien invasion by wiping out all the humans on the planet, it took thousands of years for him to arrive and it would be thousands more before the aliens come in to set up. The reason why the Iron Giant didn’t default to his programming is because of the bump on his head when he crashed landed causing major internal errors in his code. It also helps that the Alien race that the Iron Giant came from wiped themselves out in a civil war. -Source: Iron Giant Behind the scenes interview with the directors.
Just imagine those aliens didn’t have their civil war and they arrived on earth thousands of years later to see their robot as “defective” for not following its programming and allowed humanity to advance long enough to have a fighting chance?
Hmm... you know I just realized that the US would have HAD to inform the Soviets that the nuclear launch wasn't directed at them but a target on their own soil and soon after "something" launched itself from American soil and intercepted the missile. I wonder what the implications of that would have had on the world, everyone would be talking about it at least. Maybe think the United States was making a big show out of the fact they apparently had the means to intercept ICBMs by launching one at themselves and shooting it out of the sky.
That’s also excluding the giant energetic explosion traveling some distance away after the Iron Giant fired the weapon from his chest, that’d probably would REALLY alarm everyone too and wouldn’t have been surprising if several military units nearby from the explosion radius began to mobilize while emergency hotlines between the states, maybe countries become saturated on finding out what even happened.
A story such as this probably wouldn’t have been covered up; the town erected a memorial for The Giant at the end; so word is out about the mysterious Iron Giant.
@@didncozosksma4466easy answer for that, just lie and say its a local legend or they just liked the design, harder to cover up is the massive explosion from his chest cannon, thats not a nuclear blast and others would have questions about it
This movie already had an awesome sound design. It feels very much like Star Wars’ sound design with a mix of Terminator. It gives a more satisfying and nostalgic feel from movies that come from this era between the 90’s and 2000’s. Now of days, some movies still have an awesome sound design but not as awesome as movies from this era. I really think this era film (90’s to 2000’s) peaked with their sound design. I too always wanted to replicate it.
sound mixing is a different kettle of fish though. Could just be my TV, but when I watch this movie, regular speaking or quiet music is very quiet and then loud sounds like explosions, shouting or crescendos are ear-splittingly loud😵

The one where its sounds like an alien esk screech as his chest shoots off that energy orb and the impact of the nuke was SO GOOD!
You know I’m sorta glad humanity wasn’t able to take giant down and study him because judging by his weapons humanity could of made weapons worse than any nuclear bomb
Beware the anger of a Good Man, for it will shatter the Earth with its intensity. The Iron Giant is a gentle soul in a body built for War. Hogarth taught him to respect life and to do no harm. A lesson that was shoved to the back of Giant's mind when he thought Hogarth; his first friend; was dead by the US Military's hand and Helmsley ordering the soldiers to open fire. Its a damn good thing Hogarth managed to stop him when he did, otherwise that would've been a lot of unnecessary bloodshed.
This scene alone's why you should never forcefully drive the innocence out of a powerful being because once it is nice no more you wish it's kindness and need for peace would return for this example it would be them attacking to iron giant when he's at his lowest causing him to revolt and anger unlocking his true potential And beating their butts until Hogarth recovers and manages to snap the iron giant out of this frenzied state of rage, anger, pain and loss.
And this is why you never - *NEVER* - shoot first against something or someone that is clearly not hostile; there's a chance they can, and *will,* eventually shoot back =_=
If they're decent, they work just as good as big over ear headphones. I edited this with good earbuds and I could hear just about everything to the highest quality
I do like how Mansley suggested to lure the gaint away from the town to destroy it, we can admit he escalated this situation but when the gaint's true intentions are shown, he does his best to come up with a strategy to take the rampaging giant out. Too bad they runied his character afterwards.
Thanks. Nah, I just find whatever scenes either lack a good amount of sfx or that I just want to add some to. It's pretty much a hobby tbh. I've already done it a few other times with scenes from L4D2
I see the Giant’s scream as a few things: 1. He was simply enraged at the military for “killing” Hogarth 2. The original programming perhaps allows a form of rage. Scare tactics, expression of intent etc 3. Most heartbreakingly, perhaps the Giant felt his programming suddenly rewrite itself back to its war machine mode, and he was frightened of what he suddenly was becoming 4. He finally snapped, and allowed the war machine to take over
