Randy/Matthew thank you for bringing me to tears and keeping Keith’s legacy alive. I was 23 yrs old when For Those Who Have Ears To Hear came out and swept me away. Randy, I thank God for the impact you had on Keith and Melody. Matthew, 2nd Chapter Of Acts with Footnotes was THE BEST ALBUM I’d ever heard in 1974. Thank you both for your faithfulness. I am now 71 (now live in CO) and am still zealous for Jesus thanks to examples like you guys. No Compromise. My epitaph will be: A man after God’s own heart - faithful to the end.
Keith Green died 6 days before I was born but I grew up loving his music. He is one of the biggest reasons I took up playing piano and love the passion of praising Jesus ❤
Christian radio stations need to be playing the music of these 2 fantastic artists and so many more from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. So many people today have no idea the great Christian music and artists they're missing out on. One's that people like me, 63 years old , were blessed to see live in concert many times. The classic Christian music deserves air play , and would minister to younger group of people who have never heard it. And, to those of us who lived that era and hunger to hear it played again.
This is one of the first Christian songs I heard, as a new seeker. I wasn't a believer. I had been in a car accident it was driving a rental that only had a.m. radio. Without realizing that I was listening to Christian music, I began enjoying the sound. This led me to The music of Mylon Lafevor. The testimonies in the early Christian music was very effective.
I'm so glad I came to faith when this music was written. CCM today is so out of touch with Christ and His work in the Church. Reveals the sad state of the church today. Shallow.
This is amazing!!!!!! Anyone else out there just discovering these awesome singer songwriters from the past due to Covid? This song has such a haunting melody; it often goes through my head/heart randomly during the day. And the lyrics!!!! Wow Wow wow!!!! Jesus, You are awesome!!!!!!!!
I'm rediscovering them. They have both been around for a long time and I started listening to both as a child of the 80s but then I have been around a while, middle aged n all! Check out the Witness musical, that's when I first heard Matthew Ward singing a heartbreaking song as Judas Iscariot. The first Randy Stonehill album I heard in the 80s was Welcome to Paradise. It's awesome. Was released in 1976 I think. 🙂
Rediscovering perhaps. Saw both Randy and Matthew (and Second Chapter, too) live way back in the day. Such wonderful music. Though my faith is very different now than it was then, these songs will always have a special place for me...
Keith brought in Randy to write the lyrics for this wonderful music. Randy "nailed it" by the Holy Spirit on the first verse, Keith agreed, and the rest is history. Melody Green and Todd Fishkin also co-wrote.
where in NZ... Just moved here last month from the Chicago area... Seen Randy there several times... right before leaving we saw able to see. Zach Williams and Casting Crowns.. What are some Christian Bands here?
I vividly remember praying along with countless thousands of believers in Keith Green's travails to bring this album to fruition. Praise God for the songs that lift us up and fill us with hope. Rest in rock, Keith.
I grew up listening to 2nd Chapter of Acts and when Matthew started on his own I was amazed how much his songs touched me like It's Alright, Summer Snow, Angels Everywhere...Keith Green and all his songs, Benny Hester, Phil Keaggy, Resurrection Band...so many who touched my life and relationship with the Lord as a young Christian. I was always singing with them and they had a way of expressing what I was feeling but couldn't find the words. Thanks again for uploading these great videos! :-)
+Jane Wood Your list of musicians pretty much says it all. Anyone who's come after them is only a mere shadow. They're standing on the shoulders of giants our generation (the Jesus Movement) had the absolute privilege of witnessing and experiencing and hearing first-hand. I can't listen to modern CCM, I just can't.
I too listened to these folks growing up. The Second Chapter was my favorite. I got everything they ever did and memorized all their songs. I think that Footnotes and Night Light are my favorites, although Mansion Builder is wonderful too. I see Matthew and Randy as survivors, especially Randy and I am so thankful that they have persevered in the faith when there were so many opportunities to turn away. So thankful for them.
Thank you Randy. I bought this album when it first came out, and played it thousands of times. Thank you for letting Jesus make you the being that you are!
I know they're pros, and I haven't sung on stage (yet), but I don't know how they get through this song without losing it..tearfully. The grace and goodness of our God is so amazingly powerful! Do you know Him today, friend?
Just Jeph I was at a Keaggy concert where he did this song. The tears flowed throughout the song, non stop. Never had that before or since. About 3-4 yrs ago Jackson Fl. Praise Jesus!
@@allenallen5040 I lived in Jacksonville and I missed that one. I did see Randy, tho, and same effect on this and so many of his songs. He's uncle Randy!😎
I hope that Mathew Ward is doing all right heard he had cancer a while ago. Always loved his voice from the first time I heard it. Him and his sisters were adopted and dedicated their lives to singing for the Lord I know their parents were also involved with the Second Chapter of Acts. Amazing talent G-d given talent it is.
Randy came to our town last week. Wonderful. Also, for those who don't know, Matthew wrote an autobiography called My Second Chapter. I got a digital copy. Interesting to hear his perspective on life and know more about 2CA and others in the Jesus movement.
what an awesome video... had the opportunity to do sound for both of these guys on separate occassions in a little church near Albany NY... many many years ago.... still love them both thanks for the post
Very cool, Mr. Bob! Ever heard of Raging Grace, a blues-rock trio out of Connecticut? Ran the Mackie 24 for them for about 2 years, just around New England.😎
Please let's not start that comparison stuff. Randy's, Phil's, Keith's and anyone that sings it in thanksgiving to our gracious Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ
While you are on this channel please find & watch documentaries on Keith's Life. Here is why I say that: Keith was best friends with the group members of the 2nd Chapter of Acts, including Matthew Ward. "I would have to say, if it wasn't for the loving & giving heart of Keith Green, I probably would not have become a believer and remained "the course" even through today. I led my brother to the Lord and he and I have led nearly 25 members of our extended family to Christ. I even have two boys who have become full-time ministers of the Gospel of Christ. (Keith would be proud) I have studied under many significant ministries, leaders, preachers, churches, in several denominations, but, sad to say, I have had to renounce many their influences from my life for many of them have fallen away from Christ Himself and His solid and simple teachings. Keith Green was that prophet that had caused myself and many to be single-focused in my walk with Christ and to seek to be planted in quality soil in order to produce fruit."
THIS WAS A WONDERFUL performance between them -- RANDY was amazing here -- no need to compare -- this song was a gift between the two of them to the LORD .
I have all the Albums of Randy, having said that I also have them of 2/ch of acts and Mathew ward solo too, because I love to hear his voice, and I'd like to add another voice that is on par if not better than that of Mathew, and that's Jerry Williams from HARVEST. I have all their PL's too. still pay they in my mancave. As a young Christian I would invest my time in christian bands while my mates would go party and drink on a Friday night No subwoofers in those days just Giant speaker and I'd crank it up when no one was home. Still do it Now.
Could Matthew's verse have been done any better? If that had been a studio take, I can hardly imagine why they would do another -- what they would hope to improve. The final run ("It's like the power of the wind") gave me neck chills. So effortless. Just amazing.
ja, sommige nummers waren akoestisch, anderen wel met band... Maar kwam prachtig over hoor, het was weer eens een concert wat niet ten onder gaat een het geweld van het geluid...

Randy Stonehill: “King of Hearts.”
I want this one sung at my funeral. One of my favorites
That's such a fine expression of a song, to the Lord by his Friends. We remember..

“Stranger to Danger.”
Two of the pioneers of faith based rock music. Wow, their voices sound as great as ever.
My husband was saved at a 2nd Chapter of Acts concert. Matthew and Ann prayed with him. Such good memories of Randy Stonehill and others like him

One of Keith Green's best songs. So glad that it is still sung after such a long time...so true to every believer!

And so is Matthew Ward.
Wonderful.....Matt's such a good back-up as well as lead singer. His harmonies here are so seamless and perfectly synced.

Awesome to have these two together!

appreciate these guys so much. The audio doesn't do their talent justice. Both of these guys deeply influenced my life.
