love him or hate him, you gotta respect Jeff's passion for the show. without that passion, the show never would have lasted 20 years.

Joe DeFazio Lots of fans hate him because he’s taken the show in a direction as a producer that kind of shits on the entire spirit of the game. He doesn’t understand that the fans would rather have a season with compelling characters and minimal twists as opposed to boring characters playing with idol nullifiers, legacy advantages, fire making challenges, edge of extinction etc

That's because they were the percieved biggest threats
Their reputation is just bigger. And most of the old school players played multiple times like Rob, Parvati or Sandra. Do giant reputation.

@@takss9958 earl Cole was almost in winners at war alegently Adam was his alternate, after he didn't want to go because he had a new baby or was going to have one during filming or something like that.
But you kind of can't make a season only of what people call "the smaller winners" you kind of expect Sandra, Parv, Rob, Tyson. People are excited about Ethan, Yul or Kim, because their wins were impressive or you didn't see them. Nobody cares about Ben, Nick, Adam or Sophie. Who would have cared for Fabio 🙄 or Nathalie White except from super fans who really want to see them play.
If they didnt do a horrible tribe swap into 3 tribes i bet the season goes a lot different. In a season of all winners to throw people into tribes of 5 in a swap is such a bad idea.
I wish Cochran was on this season. It would've made his story come full circle. He said he wanted to prove to Jeff that he deserves to be with the best to ever play. Seeing him with all these winners would've been amazing to see him say to Jeff "Told u I would be here"

Ik Todd had problems with alcohol and that’s probably why they didn’t bring him back but he’s legit fine now, and we need to see him again! Also Vecepia is so underrated and she didn’t even get a call for the season

@@pepper1234ization Because she was originally in the cast. She was cut last minute without any explanation. Same thing with Rich, but Probst gave some light on why they thought he shouldn't be there. Even Tina was kind of offended by the way things were done.

Personally, I'd have asked for Chris Daugherty from Vanuatu, simply because his story of overcoming incredible odds with the grandest deceptions and anti-hero dealings all the way to the Final Tribal Council is just INSANE, and despite his age (he'd have been playing this season on his 48th birthday iirc) he'd be a lot of fun to watch again. The same reasoning applies with Mike Holloway from Worlds Apart, and I agree that he would be fun to watch a second time as well.

Chris from Edge of Extinction, and Tommy from Island of the Idols, also did not return because Winners at War starting filming right after Edge of Extinction was finishing up
quick little correction at the end. Winners at War started shooting like 2 weeks after Island of the Idols wrapped up, not after Edge of Extinction which filmed a year prior.

@@jackoscar11 Because of what happened with Dan on this recent, CBS probably didn't want Hatch on to bring back memories of what happened on All Stars.
They should have had more old schoolers on to see how they would have played now, like: Hatch, Tina, Vecepia, Jenna, Chris, Earl, Todd and Bob. I also miss Fabio and Mike.
And stop fangirling over Cochran so much Jeff 🤦♀️😂
Pity, I never found Cochran interesting at all. If anything, Adam is a lot better
I think Hatch's personality would have fit in well with the new school players. Boston Rob did not fit in at all.
Jeff keeps pushing that he wanted all eras of survivor represented but only gets 7 pre season 20 players compared to literally everyone from seasons 31 to 37 lol
It's harder to get players that played that long ago. Especially the ones who are older and don't want to play anymore.

@@TheSubPredicate I dont know why Tina isnt back. But Hatch I could see getting CBS and Survivor in a lot of trouble with the press and public given his history on survivor and given the situation that occurred on Island of the Idols.
They also want casual fans to enjoy WaW and there are lots of old school winners that aren't remembered as much

we've suffered enough JT. JT was good on Tocantins because he had Stephen, that's it. It's been a tragic, tragic decline physically mentally and aesthetically ever since then.
I wanna be on survivor one day!!! Hope it's still on when I'm old enough.
We need a season of "should haves", people who should have won, but didn't. People who actually played the game, who fans know should have won. People who weren't lazy and did nothing til the end (some twice!), and only won because the opposition made someone mad. Right from season 1, about half the winners had no business winning, so let's give those who did a better shot.

So no Hatch, Tina, Tom, Earl, Todd or Mike? Even then, there's a bunch of others who could take spots. Don't get me wrong, this is a solid cast. But Cochran isn't EVERYTHING. There are many others deserving to be out there this season, who I hope we see again.

Wild Card Watson Earl was on the casting list for Survivor Game Changers, out of all the winners not in Winners at War, Earl is probably the only one that could be seen again.

Chris Daughtry is one of the forgotten great winners. If you rewatch that season (vanuatu), he had the shittiest hand dealt to him. Overcame a power female alliance that was just picking the guys off with ease and he flips that and then runs the whole game (still as the only guy) to the finish and wins. Amazing.
The fact Vecepia wasn’t brought back (and has never been brought back) is an absolute travesty.
They could have at least given her a call. I think all winners should have been given a call to muddy the waters for any pre-game alliances

I think Cockrin would've been a wild card. I think he could've made it far. Hes not only a fan but in the season that he won he won 4 challenges and he is a huge strategic threat.
I've been saying and had assumed up until Winners at War was announced that Season 40 was going to have 20 of the first people that have been voted out over the years.
Jud Birza would be highly missed.
I'm glad Cochran isn't on season 40... Richard Hatch would have been very interesting, but I wonder if he wasn't invited because of the sexual thing that happened in All Stars, or his jail time? I also would have loved to see Chris Underwood back so he could prove he was deserving.
It's because of what happened in S39 about Dan. That made his(rich) chance of returning very low.
Also, the world of television is very different in 2020 than in 2000-2004. Richard Hatch walking around naked would not go well with the producers/audience.

@@derikfernandes7844 A contestant, Dan Spilo, was essentially a pervert and was running around touching women. Nobody really got bothered by it, except for a few women, and some people even used this to their advantage on a strategic level. Both Dan's behavior, and the response from his fellow contestants to use this behavior as an advantage to their game, was wildly inappropriate, and Dan was removed from the game after another "incident."

Ethan used to date Amber before All Stars which lead to a rivalry between Rob and Ethan during All Stars, and now Ethan and Rob are on the same tribe. Should be very interesting.

I honestly wished Mike Holloway was here. He was one of my favorites and i would argue that he is THE BEST winner in Survivor's history. He had every quality needed on Worlds Apart, despite everyone being against him.
For real, people say he's nothing without the immunity run, but he decided so many of the votes, and besides Kelly getting idoled out, and besides the Shirin, and Carolyn almost getting blindsided, and final 4 fire, he was always in the majority when it games to votes

Hatch should have played. Would be interested to see how he plays in the modern era. Jenna would be interesting to see as an adult. Chris D. Would great. Lowkey one of the greatest players ever. Earl is arguably the greatest winner of all time. Todd would be amazing. I would also like to see Fabio play as an adult. Say what you want about his strategy but he understood the social game and how he was perceived. He played it up well.

Just because of the fact that he was the OG winner should have solidified him as a participant the winner's season. I'm excited to see Ethan, but disappointed that Hatch won't be there.

The biggest mistake of Winners at War was not bringing back Richard Hatch.

Easy for Jeff to say everyone looks the same. Problem is Old school players didn’t “grow up” watching new schoolers and idolizing them, and seeing them become famous. Jealousy of how iconic the old school players have become there was no way one of them were ever going to win. First few episodes it was clear. Rob said it best at the challenge to get back in the game. “Look at us over here, all old school players. We never got our footing.” Not s..t. New schoolers were never going to let that happen. Peace.

People who I would’ve cut to see these three are probably Rob, Amber and either Wendell or Jeremy or Adam. I like all of them but I’d rather see more old school.

I can’t even begin to realize how excited I am for this season. I hope Boston Rob is out first (I know a LOT of people like him, I just don’t see it- to each his/her own), and I hope Parvati becomes the first $2 million winner. Her season 16 is my absolute favorite season (HvV is a VERY close second). If Parvati doesn’t get it then I have to throw my support behind Sandra, and possibly Tyson.

Jeff never talks about Hatch anymore, I heard they dont get along they dont talk to each other....but Hatch is one of those founding fathers of survivor
If you follow Hatch's UA-cam page, he gets into his version of why he was snubbed. And since then burned any bridge to the ground down of ever returning. According to Richard, he was booked and all set to be prepped for the show and Probst and CBS stiffed him, following last season's scandel. From Rich's perspective, he was too "risky" to have on in this new phony "woke" Survivor that Jeff is pushing.
Miss opportunity to have 40 castaways and have two separate games going then have them merge couple episodes later
