The parallel this anime draws between Ghouls and humans is something i really love about it like can you really blame any side? they both have lost their loved ones and they keep fighting for revenge and wish the eradication of the opposing party . As long as Ghouls would keep preying on humans this war would never really end and would just result in more and more suffering
Touka's speech to Mado is honestly pretty ironic. Here we have the near unstoppable monster, immune to most conventional weapons, asking her prey wether he knows what it feels like to be hunted. It is peak hypocrisy! Ghouls literally need to eat humans to survive while humans only recently developed weapons that finally allowed them to launch a counterattack. Now the predators are also at risk and it’s suddenly unfair. Mado ended up as a monster exactly because he knows what it feels like when the loved ones he desperately wanted to protect get mercilessly slaughtered and eaten. He enjoys his job so much because it allows him to inflict the same pain upon the ghouls that they inflict upon him and so many others. Keep in mind that, even if we ignore binge eaters and those who kill for fun, the average ghoul needs to eat roughly one human a month. That’s 12 a year and, assuming a lifespan of 80 years, 960 people eaten per ghoul. Add their loved ones and you have thousands of destroyed lives for each ghoul out there. Of course what Kaneki proposes is better than wiping out one side but but Amon definetely has more of a point that Touka😂
Except, that's not what Touka actually means at all. She says that it's unfair that those that are truly Innocent, like Hinami and Ryoko, are being hunted just like everyone else without a second thought. If they were only after ghouls like Rize or Tsukiyama she would have 0 problems with the CCG.
To be honest, I don't remember the information about lore.But can't ghouls eat corpses? what exactly do some ghoules do, eating already dead people, so as not to kill innocent people? Plus, you can talk about millions of ruined destinies, but in our world, and in the world of the Tokyo ghoul, the past is the past You can't judge all people/ghouls by how their ancestors once acted, or by how others behave
Aaaand yes, torture and murder remain torture and murder, no matter what the reasons behind these actions are The fact that your family was killed is not an excuse for killing other people's families, you know. A cause, a consequence, but not an excuse
