Painful because of Naledi, or painful because of Dan?
I feel like Dan was too courteous and inoffensive in this interview, to the extent that Naledi could just speak endlessly in incoherent platitudes and babble without Dan giving strong pushback on her claims.
I physically cringed listening to Naledi speak. What's painful is that many South Africans think they are convincing.

3:17 Just a small correction, no private ownership of property or land is NOT part of Socialism. In Socialism private ownership of property or land remains, it is only the "means of production" that cannot be held by private ownership.
In other words, in Socialism, your house and your stuff is still your private property, but when you go to work, the "company" you work at is owned by the people or state, and not owned by private individuals for financial profit for themselves. In Socialism, these "company ownership" is mostly in the form of CO-OP's, which has been proven world wide as hugely successful (even here in SA), and out performs Capitalist corporations and companies every time, on almost all fronts, especially when economic times are down.
What most Capitalist cannot rap their heads around is the fact that in Socialism, the main objective of "companies" are not to generate massive financial profits for a small elite group of individuals, it's main objective is to provide goods and services at an acceptable price that benefit all.
It is only in Communism that all land is owned by the state, and we all know how that worked out, it was a resounding failure. As a major example, the USSR stagnated on Communism, and never became a Socialist country, which would have made it a great success. It's so funny to hear people refer to the USSR as an example of Socialism and its failure, because it was never a Socialist country, it was a Communist country.
Sadly most Westerners have very little knowledge about what Socialism is, except the propaganda their Capitalist bosses & Capitalist owned MSM feeds them on the regular, to make sure that their employees never realise that Socialism is the better system, and to protect the interests of the select elite's private interests and exorbitant profits and extravagant elite lifestyles, while their employees struggle to put food on the table.
What the EFF is suggesting, it seems, is a Communist system for SA, which has been proven can never work and does not work, as it only trubo-charges corruption of government and impoverishes the majority of the people and basically makes the people slaves of the government elites, as they are 100% dependent on government's bread crumbs for the people. Old USSR is a PRIME EXAMPLE of that spectacular failure.
Communism failed, because all that Communism in effect does, it replaces the "Elite SELECT FEW SUPER RICH CAPITALISTS", with an "ELITE SELECT FEW SUPER RICH GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS", so it has VERY LITTLE benefit for the masses of the population (but it will have MASSIVE FINANCIAL BENEFIT for the EFF government officials, if they ever come to power).

@mmb811, let's be fair Socialism developed in the middle of the Industrial Revolution. At the time, the means of production had the most impact on the economy. Now, the government doesn't need to control means of production to drastically impact the economy, They use more sofisticated tools like interest rates, repo rates, excessive money printing, national debt...etc to control the economy. By that logic, we're already socialist 😅

Defending the point instead of rationally taking in criticism or outlining a workaround, or admitting the fact that "I do know everything, I am one person and I am uncertain to how we will do this but it is something we will consider/are considering/ you raise a good point." Ja - that is the only thing - I do believe a limit should be placed on land ownership per person. But yes - governments should have no place in controlling people's daily lives and owning everything including land is wrong and shows their greed. The same thing happened in Zimbabwe! They took the land but never gave over 90% (if not more) to people. They kept it because all it was was a voting ploy. 95% unemployment today and people entertain these communist ideas. It's madness. They must wake up. Otherwise it's them who will be the ones to suffer. Not me. I'll simply be gone. But I want to help my fellow South African of all races. But I won''t live under a bunch of thugs - that's for sure (the ANC are bad but the EFF are simply the ANC on steroids that's all). And here's the kicker as well - the EFF make out like land is the biggest issue. They must answer this:
      1. Why do they want land that is already making food for the country for all the people? They'll mess it up. With that said - the government owns vast tracks of arable unused land already!!!! Because land reform, which the EFF don't like to say, has already largely happened. The land restitution process - many many white farmers did sell the land to the government but 90% of the claimants took the money, Therefore the land is now vacant government land. So why not take that land and build up emerging black farmers on that land?
      2. Ask them why do you want to pursue socialist and communist ideals when it worked nowhere else on this planet. God we have a country to the north of us that pursued it and it ended in tears for over 98% of the population black and white.
      3. Why is Ekhuruleni the worst run metro in the country when they have major MMC positions there and why were they fighting with the ANC like dogs outside the city hall last week? Do residents want to see that? No all they see is a metro falling to pieces whilst politicians fight for the loot .

She spoke over you and left you saying only "yes...", "okay..." or "I understand..." for whole minutes at a time. Attracting these speakers is important, but you are lending them your platform. Your platform has serious value and the price of that is stiff, but fair questioning. You had numerous opportunities to question the facts she put down, to critically address her comments, to bring in data, to create debate. Too often those were missed. This chick is a perfect representative of the EFF - speaking with total confidence about a “solutions” when there is ZERO substance to what she’s saying. Anyone who votes EFF is doing it purely along racial lines and is voting based on emotions.

One thing i like about the EFF is that education becomes the order of the day and i have no doubt that with this kind of mentality they can execute their plans very well, unlike the ANC where cader deployment cadership is an order of the day.🙄

My initial problem was that I wanted someone who talked a certain way to represent these issues and hated how She came on the show and gave what I thought was a more emotional attempt at convincing than a calm rational approach. But then I watched the video a few times and realized there is a language disconnect here and that's the problem. She doesn't debate fluently in English and her prefared method of representing the Eff's policies and ideas is very different from the debates that are normally had in this channel.
But maybe that was wrong for me to demand that from her. The majority of South African are not British Parliamentary style debating champions. English is a second language for most of us. If you listen to what she says and not how she says it she killed this.
