- This video will inform you about air brakes. If you want to drive a truck or bus with air brakes, or pull a trailer with air brakes, you should watch this video.
Air brakes use compressed air to make the brakes work. Air brakes are a good and safe way of stopping large and heavy vehicles, but the brakes must be well maintained and used properly. Air brakes are really three different braking systems in one. There is a service brake, a parking brake, and an emergency brake.
The service brake system applies and releases the brakes when you use the brake pedal during normal driving.
The parking brake system applies and releases the parking brakes when you use the parking brake control.

Thank you for this tutorial. Is there a place where I can find some illustrations or at least some visual examples of both Wedge Brakes and Disc Brakes? My manual only has an illustration of an S-cam brake. It would make it a lot easier to learn the differences if we could see all the different types of brake systems.
In the dual “air brake section”. you didn’t specify how long it takes to fill to 100 psi. Still appreciate the video. It was really helpful.

Back during the days of UA-cam before channels would just use an AI voice to narrate everything, and it sounds so close to real you can only tell the difference due to bad word pronunciations.
