Self hatred is an ugly thing! I’m relaxed but there are times when I could give zero fcuks about my edges being curly/kinky because….I’m a child of the sun, descended from Africa. I’m proud of it too!

I don’t think the way you wear your hair determines your consciousness. It’s all personal preference and as long as you love it and do what’s best for you it’s what’s that matter.

We are our own worst enemy. Yes it is true we police and bully too damn much. Knowledge is the first step, application of that knowledge is where the true strength is. I have hair to my back from knowing how to maintain my hair and it was taught to me by a white dermatologist and a black trichologist, neither of whom were relaxed like I have been for 20 plus years.

I don’t think all this scrutiny has anything to do with hair. Our community deals with a lot of internalized racism, colorism, and patriarchy-based bs and hair is an arena in itself. This, however, is just a bunch of bitter people picking her apart because she’s gotten married. Everyone was on her team when she was winning medals but now she’s winning something most women would consider in reach and they’re mad.

I don't ever slick my edges, and I never will. I dont't think there is anything wrong with wanting to slick your edges, but I feel like we do it so often with black female hairstyles that people will judge you for just wearing your egdes natural egdes. I've had people tell me that I should slick my edges to make my style cuter, but I like the way my hair looks as is. I don't like the way my hair looks with baby hairs/egdes, ect. and I don't want to go through the extra hassle of just trying to give the illusion of straight edges. Edge control doesn't even work for me lmaoo

Honestly, I’m Disgusted at how some of us treat one another. It’s appalling and saddening to the ancestors, to say the least. For ladies to be talking about that woman’s hair is showing how absolutely LOST people are and it’s NOT a good look. I’m really glad you bought the knowledge by way of the conscious Brothers and Sisters. Our people MUST learn! Downloads are real and so is interacting with the sun. I agree, it is imperative to seek the knowledge…our hair is beautiful from the un-laid edges in the front to the kinks or peas in the back. To each their own, I haven’t noticed Simone Biles’ edges but I saw her dressed for her wedding that’s all that stood out to me. Folks need to learn to sthu and Leave people alone!

Come on kinks and peas🤣!!! I actually noticed her dress 🤍 as well! Then I noticed how purely happy and proud to be with each other they were. I, as a hair girl didn't look at her hair until I read the comments smdh... I was like...here we go again with this BS. TFW 💕

Chyyyyyle; if you are visible to any amount of people, you are at the mercy of their BS!! This internet keyboard bullying is REAL!! People really are out here being hateful about things that have nothing to do with love, peace, happiness, etc. It's disappointing at the very least.

You cannot ask a society/ community of people to do something that they have never practiced before. Inside of the African-American community support within one another, whether it be through business, image or just the spreading of knowledge is such a reach boo. Not saying it can’t be done but you know like most we have to live in the world now and the world now tells us other wise well atleast what is filtered for us to see thru media. Black hair has always and forever will be the greatest strength to the whole beauty industry it’s the originator of all styles, the innovation to any technique and let’s face it the beginning of any chemical process known to man today thanks to the one and only madam CJ walker, but with greatness and strength it’s suppressed 😢 one day we can only hope things will be different though 😊

Come through with the facts sis! Yahkia awakened is the truth and I heard his seminars are bomb!! This might be TMI, but we are not even suppose to be cutting off our pubic hairs either the meaning behind that is super deep as well and just like you mentioned letting people touch your hair with negative energy will transfer that energy and damage your hair to the point of no return. It can even get to the point of you having to cut it completely off to get rid of that negative energy, it's crazy. Even in the movie Avatar when they mated they connected the hairs on their tails, they was transferring energy too🤦🏾‍♀. Chile its to much to know..lol,🤣 by the way I'm currently 4 months post relaxer and transitioning to Natural I need to be closely connected with my creator and the higher power that I posses within..lol Thanks for sharing sis! Be Bless! ♥🙏🏾

Not TMI at all. I heard that a lot when I was a teen but not too much as an adult. We should be having these conversations! TFW 💞
