    I really would never have thought of using that pyramid like that! How cool is that! The only downside I can see is the area where the tape and acetate was is all rippled and uneven. How would you rectify that Steve? I think it came out really beautifully. Such a clever idea! God bless you and those you love Steve. Have a great day!

      I've done kind of the same thing with a cube to make a planter, but I cut the strips of acetate to the length of each side and taped them on instead of putting the tape on first. I hope that made sense😅 It gave me a pretty nice, flat edge with almost no cleanup!

      My guess would be that he's going to use certain types of sand paper & finishing buffers to smooth it down. Definitely would be a good second video.

      For a great effect you can brush pigment onto ripples then top coat the area. X

      @@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts her one was similar but your way was way easier she used so much tape around the mould that it put me off recreating it. You used tape and made it look easy so thank you for sharing I will definitely give it a go but once the heat settles down a bit. Doesn’t matter who does what it’s what you make with it, gone to your Amazon account for tattoos loved the rose you used. @@alisonjordan1152 I remembered watching Louise’s video ages ago, but couldn’t remember her using an immense amount of tape. I went back to watch it and if we are speaking of the same video, she used an aluminum tape to support a square piece of acrylic. The way it was done, created a smooth flat base of the pyramid.

      She may have learned it from some one. Who knows it doesn't matter I've done this for many years but I don't claim to have invented it some people think of ideas at the same time as some one else it's amazing when you think this is my idea only to find that 10 more people thought of the same idea. Not trying to take it away from anyone but I first did this in 1979 at the age of 19. I'm now 62 and still making stuff. I love everything casting sculpting and mould making.

    Awesome idea and great result, but it occurred to me that if you put a bit of silicon caulking on each edge instead of tape it might give a cleaner and more even edge. Also would like to ask that if you use this as a lamp, say as a night light in a kid's room, would this soften the resin or affect the colours?

    • @LoriPeace
      @LoriPeace 2 роки тому

      Oh, that's a very good question -- how does the heat affect the resin?

    • @Soifdesang9
      @Soifdesang9 2 роки тому +1

      Use an LED base for almost no heat.

  • @deanontheinterwebs
    @deanontheinterwebs Рік тому

    It's hard to see if it affected it, but I would flip the pyramid around to the opposite side for the 2nd panel to pour, so that the pressure on the sides is even (rather than one side done and the other empty) -- then doesn't matter as much for sides 3 and 4 as two sides are already done. Would be easy to I think to add a little arch in the base for the cord.
