Thanks. It's a tune that's easy to suck at as it's been taken through a process of homogenisation. Try going back to Burl Hammons playing it and when you listen really try to 'unhear' how you perceived it before. It has elements that are sweet and they have been picked up on and given too much status. It's super funky when Burl plays it with more notes and bow phrasing than the version that went through Bluegrass and back again losing all its funk in the process.
I recently learned from a reliable source that the rediscovery of this tune may be attributed to one Greg Dearth; an extremely talented man who may have been playing with the Hutchinson Brothers at the time he introduced this tune to the masses.
