Yes, Gravenberch will be one of the subs. Reijnders most likely the playmaker on midfield. The Dutch team used to be strong on the attack and weak in defense, but this year it is the other way around. Maybe Memphis Depay will make a big comeback in this tournament, but he hasn't really impressed at the club level in the last couple of years. Simons has been great with PSV and RB Leipzig, but his national team performances have mostly been a disappointment so far.

the thing with the dutch team is, they usually bring the party but for some reason the win is hardly every awarded, you can bet you dollar that if the netherlands end up in the finale against germany,france or spain then the referees and organisation will do anything they can to not let the dutch squad win.

Everybody is hyping France! But if they don't win there first match against Austria I see trouble for them! Mbampe and a few other players are sick...besides that I see there is irritation between a few players and they think the first 3 matches they can do on 50% ... I feel the arrogance of that same hyped team of France of 2010...that didn't make it out of the group! The 2 qualification matches between FRA-NED , the Netherlands played with a whole other team due to injuries and foodpoisen! It's time to return the favour to France in the second match , because this Oranje is much much better!

I have a good feeling about the team. It seems balanced and matured and certainly capable to give every team a run for their money. If EC history has shown anything, it's anybody's game on a good day. Look at 2008, Holland destroyed France and Italy in the first round and got defeated by Russia in the next round. Anything is possible at the Euros and that's what makes it much more interesting from a competitive perspective than the WC.
Honestly I feel like the Poland game showcased one issue we have with our team. Once Poland went up 1-0, our offense was on point, ball possession was good, chances every minute, and it only took 13 minutes to respond and tie the game. But then? Poland started getting chances again. Before the 1-1, we controlled the game, after 1-1, we lost that control. That is one big issue with the Netherlands. If they played like they did during those 13 minutes, it would've been an easy win.
And another issue it showed is, our finishing isn't good enough. The defense is stacked completely as you say, while the attack is the weakest. The Poland game, other than a corner, was defensively very strong. Good saves from the keeper and good defending otherwise. But the attack was honestly awful. Despite a ton of chances, a lot of shots weren't on target that really should have been, and it should have been an easy win.
Weghorst is a good striker who always seems to come through as a sub, Depay is good but he has been missing a lot of chances. Against Poland he really should have hit the target, even if it's saved, at least create a proper chance instead of putting it way high. It's not that the offense is weak, it's just that the chances that we get should be going in. We should've beaten Poland 4-1 rather easily with the amount of possession and chances we had...
Another issue is that we're way better when we are behind rather than ahead. Look at Argentina 2022, 2 goals behind, tactic chance and 2 goals scored very late in the game. And then it's a tie, so we go back to playing carefully. Same happened here, Poland scored the 1-0. Our offense is suddenly looking dangerous, possession is high, chances every minute, constant pressure. It looked like a scary team, until Gakpo scored the 1-1. Then suddenly Poland got more possession than before, created a few chances almost within minutes.
I know this is because they also change their way of play once we score, but the Dutch team has always been really dangerous and strong when behind, but tied or ahead, it's simply too careful and not lethal enough. It's like we need to feel the pressure before letting out the full potential.
Honestly, if the finishing rate just goes up a little bit, we'd be a strong contender. Our defense is amazing and proper chances against us are rare. But our offense needs to put those balls in the net instead of constantly putting them wide or high. If we capitalize on the chances more we'd make it really far.
In short, lacking the killer instinct

1. We play 4-3-3 (it’s the Dutch system)
2. We miss our entire midfield (de Jong, koopmeijnders, de roon, wiefer, timber)
3. Van dijk, Ake and vd Ven all prefer to play on the left center position of defense.
4. Xavi is consistently underperforming in the Dutch national team
5. We lack a clinical striker. Depay is too inconsistent
So my hopes are mostly Gakpo and Frimpong. Hopefully Depay finds his form. Reijnders and ake and van dijk are pretty good, but overall we don’t have the same qualities that you find in teams like England, Germany, Portugal. I think it’s mostly because we miss someone that finds the net easily and an underwhelming midfield.

If I was Koeman
Ake is too important not to play IMO. 2 assists against Poland which were crucial, he's very calm with the ball at his feet and rarely makes mistakes. He is too good of a player to ignore in your team. De Ligt I haven't really followed his career so much but I remember he used to give away penalties to the opponent like it was his job to do so.
Dumfries also has a really good tournament a few years ago so I would give him a chance to maybe start shining like that again, but not over do it.
Also Wout Weghorst ALWAYS delivers goals. Again, Poland Depay missed a lot of good chances, Weghorst is on for 2 minutes and scores... But our offense really is lacking despite all the talent... Just look at the stats against Poland, it should have been twice as many shots on target and honestly it should've been 4-1...

You have forgotten about maybe the most clutch player the netherlands has to offer. Wout Weghorst. This striker managed to score twice against argentina in the wc2022, scoring against poland. and all as a substitute player. He might just be the secret to victory.
Love frimpong, doing amazing. But to be honest Dumfries has never ever let me down internationally.

They have a great squad and will be very difficult to beat. Just 1,5 year ago the almost defeated Argentina, the worldchampion. Irank them 2nd after France.
And dont forget our super sub Wout Weghorst. Is he the best player, no ofcourse not. Is he the most technical striker ever, not by a longshot. But should Argentina, Ireland, Iceland and so many more countries remember his short but ridiculously effective presence on the pitch? Absolutly. The so much critisized striker has scored very important goals in his last matches for the national team that were key in getting the penalty series against argentina in the world cup and qualifing for the european cup. Yesterday against Poland again he proved that if used well he is an absolute weapon as a sub. He likely will never be a great starting striker given the better alternatives but if there is one guy in orange that will never stop fighting and working to give his absolute 1000% to score that gamechanging goal it will be the supersub Wout Weghorst.
The Netherlands never had the best players in a tournament, but they always have the most magic moments that get them far.
Veerman is better at creating chances then gravenberg imo veerman has some great passing plays etc where gravenberg I have never seen him do

Let me break it down for you, we are the netherlands and we're decent in football but we never win🤙
We have like 3 or 4 players that are injured but crucial to the team....
if Koeman put Xavi on the bench and put Malen in we will not lose from France.
Nice video but not complete. If the Netherlands whants the best defensive backline they need to play Dumfries, van de Ven, van Dijk and Ake.
A insane strong center that is strong on the ground, in the air and super fast. A leftback that is very good in defending and decent in attacking and a offensive right back that is strong in both defending and attacking. If they need a just a little weaker backline that is offensive stronger they need to bring Maatsen for Ake but in a normal case Ake should be always the 1e pick.
Xavi Simons should be the attacking midfielder, he did a amazing job there when playing for PSV. Reijnders should also always play and the last should be Veerman or Schouten.
Up front showed Frimpong that he is the best right winger. The number one striker is Depay and on the left is not much choice so Gakpo should also play.
I agree that you can't call this a weak team but it's for sure not the best team. Teams like France have more quality so maybe the Netherlands could do a good job but even with de Jong they would never be favorite. If they reach the quater or semi final they did a very good job. Other dangerous countries are Germany, England, Portugal and Spain. The favorite team should be France.
Also, the average players from Ajax are not starting. For the first time no Ajax DNA is in the starting 11.

You forgot to mention some stuff.
- PSV players had an almost perfect season, talking about form (schouten en veerman).
- Tijjani reinders has been very strong this season and is in form
- The other good dutch defenders like. Stefan de vrij, hes been dwindling with injuries and form last 2 years. But the year before that he was the best defender on the italian fields. Or matthijs de ligt, a very good defender who is also has one of the best headers in the game. Daley bling, although not great at defending but hes more then a defender, Blind has been one of the key players in the succes this year for girona and they have competed for the title pretty long this season.
- Ian maatsen anyone? He wasnt even suppose to go the the EK, because our defense is that good.
- Donyall malen has grown this year and has been part of the succes of dortmund aswell as ian maatsen.
- And a classic liverpool legend Wijnaldum has been back in the team, can he show hes not old and bygone this EK
- And maybe or big injury bench, not only frenkie but also koopmeijnders has been world class this year. And you dont know him, but noa long has been the best player in psv early season this year until heavy injury. And the best player of psv this year Luuk de jong and one of the best headers of europe has thanked for the national team.
After seeing yesterday’s match, The Netherlands have no change at all. With non players like Depay it is impossible.

I do see us get far although I’m sure we will feel the absence of de jong and koopmeiners at some point, although players like reijnders Veerman and Schouten are in brilliant form those 2 are just so much quality and experience combined. It really thinned out our depth in midfield considering we already lost 2 squad locks with wieffer, de Roon, and maybe even Quinten timber who had a monstrous season but wasn’t fit enough, otherwise he would’ve been de jong his replacement or maybe gravenberch wouldn’t have made the squad.
Experiance in the Mickey Mouse league, especially Joey Veerman!

I initially thought so myself, but it doesn’t have to be the case. He’s a great player, but if he’s being marked by two opponents all the time, NL had a tough time trying to get out from being under pressure in the past.The team relied too much on him to come pick up the ball from the defence and move the ball forward.
Now they’re more flexible and dynamic, as the team doesn’t rely on a single person anymore. And although the current midfield may be a tad young and inexperienced, they’ve surprised me with great passing, positioning and tenacity. Only thing that might be a bit worrisome, is lack of physicality (which they probably will miss against the French).
But overall, I think this team can beat any team in the championship if they fire on all cylinders, but can also lose to pretty much everyone if they have a (mental?) off day

the whole fifa is corrupt. Germany is the number 16 from the world ranking so they could had a very tough qualifier group , but sneaky as they are they organize the EK so they are already qualified and also are now group leader and they wouldn't have been otherwise. Same with champions league it is unfair , the best 4 leagues having at least 4 teams in the champions league , they can not get eachother in the groapstage and also not in the 1/16 final so those big country's will always stay on top. it goes all about the money those bigger clubs are on much more tv channels and fifa get way more money from it. ENglisch clubs can't play against English clubs in groapstage /1/16 final aswell with the rest of the country's , but for low country's on the ranking it has no effect because they have only 1 or 2 clubs that can play champions league.

I feel as though Dumfries plays better with the national team than with the Internazionale team. He almost always seems to find a way through defenses. His assists are the problem though, even though he is often in a good position to give the assist, they are rarely good enough for (often Depay) to get the goals

@ysbrandd Canada and Iceland in a friendly match aren't exactly good opponents. They lack real finishers in front of the goal. Lots of the team don't have experience at the highest level. They play well in their own domestic league, but that's it.
The goalkeeper isn't exactly world-class. The midfield lacks experience at high level and pressure games.
Unless they get lucky with the knockout tree thingy I don't expect them to do that good. They won't outperform countries like England, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, etc.
Although looking at the knockout tree, 2D has a relatively easy path. So Quarters/Semi could be possible.

I kinda agree with you on this. Yet he has shown a tremendous form in the last 2 friendly games. Granted, Canada and Iceland are a few leagues lower as France, Germany or England. Still I think if Depay keeps his current form, the Netherlands might become the dark horse of this tournament.

Reijnders 2nd place in Serie A, Veerman insane deep passes, Xavi Simons and Zirkzee can be played as CAM's. If necessary Blind can also play defensive midfield. Maatsen, Dumfries and Frimpong are some speedy backs who all can score. If they defend right all they have to do is make smart plays on the counter, just like how France basically played the entire last two world cups.
