No official records about Diaochan existed. The only confirmed fact is Lu Bu had a secret affair with one of Dong Zhuo's maids. This maid will later on became Diaochan in many dramas written in the late Yuan Dynasty almost 1200 years later. Luo Guanzhong lived in this era so he was heavily influenced by Diaochan's popularity at the time. He adopted one of the dramas' plots to his own novel and it became the well-known story between Lu Bu and Diaochan we know today.
Tbh aside from their respective games, idk why people really equate Lu Bu to Tadakatsu Honda. It takes more than willpower and might to be a true warrior; loyalty and honor are fundamental, both of which this guy seems to lack to various degrees
A lot could potentially happen if Lu Bu had lived but I think the most likely outcome is that he rebels later and is executed. I think he would always look for a way to go independent because other lords cannot trust him. This creates fear and paranoia for Lu Bu which can easily be taken advantage of. I think its likely he would raise troops up north around Bing Province and betray Cao Cao around the time the Yuans were defeated. Maybe siding with Gao Gan. If he stayed loyal I think he'd be of great use during the battle of Jiangling. Able to put a stop Guan Yus blockade? There's a good chance he could repel Guan Yus ships alltogether. If Lu Bu had Li Tongs mission he could remove many barricades and probably live too. I imagine he can also achieve Xu Huangs merit thus being the only ones able to enter Jiangling to actually support Cao Ren. When Zhou Yu became wounded but faked good health to ward of Cao Ren, Lu Bu may have been bold enough to go ahead anyway, negating Zhou Yus strategy. But then you could argue that Zhou Yu would not use such a feint if its likely to fail.
