I’m pretty sure this was fall but big reds are here now. You can catch mullet at any boat landing with a cast net or there are a few places that sell frozen which work just as good. Tightlinez (2143 Sea Island Parkway) will be the closest bait shop to HI but even Walmart carries them.
Thanks! The rocks only extend about 5 feet into the water and then there is a huge drop off. I was pulling these reds out of a 35 feet deep channel using a carolina rig and fresh cut mullet. Surprisingly, I didn’t hook into any sharks that day.
Thanks for the video! You hammered them. Where exactly were you fishing? I’ll be visiting Fripp Island soon and I’m looking for somewhere to fish from shore.
There is a rock wall on Fripp Island that faces the Fripp Inlet. There are a few deep holes that usually hold some big reds. Unfortunately, unless you are staying at one of the homes near the wall I don’t think you will be able to fish this spot from shore.
@@SEMPERFIshing Thank you for your reply! Staying a house in the development & hoping to have some shore access🤞 Are there any artificial lures I could throw to catch fish there or is it just a live bait situation?
@@ewwee2k I like Gulp shrimp and swimming mullets for the creeks around here. I only fish Fripp near the rock wall strictly for big reds and catch those on cut mullet. If you want to mess with live bait, Beaufort Boat and Dock and Last Chance Bait both sell mud minnows which are easy to keep alive for a few days. Check out the Lagoon at Hunting Island for more shore fishing spots.
awesome
Hey, if these fish are hanging deep do you think a big heavy swim bait would put in some work here.
It’s worth a shot, the worst that could happen is you start catch sail cats cause they will eat anything.
Thanks for the video post?? What time of year is this? Where the best place to find mullet. I’m camping at Hunting Island next week.

Great Reds! What set up were you using on the rocks?

Do you live on fripp?
No, I live on Lady’s Island. You can reach the rock wall from Russ Point Landing.
