    I’m 34 and am an unpacker too! First thing I do when my bags arrive to my room. I dont care if I’m only there for one night. I unpack so I can feel “at home”. I will wear my 80-something year old badge proudly hahaha! I really want to visit these cabins! It’s my goal for 2022!

    I’m surprised so many from New England love WL. I live in the Pacific NW and for that reason we chose *not* to go to Wilderness. It’s beautiful, but I see the PNW all the time. A vacation is about getting away, so a trip to Florida for me means I want to get away from the woodsy feel and be surrounded by a beachier environment!☀️

    Front desk gives my Mother and me a room with one queen bed and bunk beds. The room's location seemed to be located at the farthest point of the WL. Had to walk back plus elevator to the front desk to complain about the room. We were told that is the best they could offer at this time. I'm 6'5" so the bunk bed was out. Nobody @ WL could help. We wound up canceling the room and went to the Marriott outside the park. No more WL for us!

    I’m a copper creek owner. My only complaint is the boat routes. They need 2 direct boats that only circle between contemporary an Wilderness lodge.

    Just back from my two weeks at my home restart, Copper Creek. I have to say excellent. One small issue with room, spoke with reception fixed immediately. The restaurants/Quick Services onsite and the gift shop also fantastic. Last point, my accident, we went to Gyster point (forgive spelling) for dinner, didn’t realise that it also had a fantastic view of the fireworks which we where able to see. All in all. 100%.

    We LOVED everything about WL. No transportation problems to complain about, for sure. We had a standard room and asked if there were any free ungrades. We were given room 3004, the BEST STANDARD ROOM. We're surprised when at 10:00 at night, we were able to see the MK fireworks from the balcony!!! Our house keeper was EXCEPTIONAL! Everyday, we looked forward to our towel managerie!! For us, there are NO CONS!

    I don’t like WL for the opposite reason. Most tourist attractions in Canada look like WL, so when I drive 24 hours south i don’t want to be in a resort that reminds me of home.

    We just bought 75 points at Copper Creek and we also have 400 points at Saratoga. This year we will be staying at Copper Creek for 10 days during May, we had such a GREAT Time at the Lodge last year that we bought at Copper Creek. Our other favorite place is The Beach Club not Saratoga. July we stayed there in the GRAND VILLA at Saratoga with two of our married daughters and their families, we had a good time but not the best vacation like the past. In our opinion it is to spread out and you are right it is in desperate need of repair.

      The northwest theme of architecture is modeled after Sagamore; an Adirondack camp of Will Durant. All of these reflect the natural local materials movement of New England and the Adirondacks.

    I love copper Creek but there are some cons. The layout of the kitchen in a 1/2 bedroom at CCV is tight. The size of the studios and that they only sleep 4.

    Wilderness Lodge has always been my favorite and it's the place where we bought into DVC also. I do agree the main pool is fairly loud and we much prefered the quiet pool as well. Cannot wait to bring our adult son here in December as it was his first Disney resort at the age of 4 where his entire memory is sleeping on the bunk beds!

    The woods and log cabin feel reminds me of the Adirondacks and Killington VT. The cabins we’ve rented and ski lodges/restaurants have this pine- woodsy feeling. Love the Wilderness Lodge!

    We just stayed this September for nine nights BR. ....the con we had is that this is a deluxe resort and waiting for buses and getting somewhere was crazy late!!! I mean thirty plus waiting on a bus to arrive...my thought is did Disney down grade the buses because of the Minnie van service?? Deluxe resorts need to have good buses system

  • @joemercuri6242
    @joemercuri6242 5 років тому

    We love the Wilderness Lodge. We have 2 contracts there one at CC and one at BR. we love it but the one glaring con to us is that it is now the only deluxe resort on property without a signature dining experience. The new Artist point is fun but you cannot go there repeatedly when staying at the lodge. when you want to wind down with a nice high end dining experience there is simply no place to go. I would expect this at a value or a moderate but not a deluxe.

  • @loriyoung4612
    @loriyoung4612 5 років тому

    Love the place! Only three cons I had in my stay...1) Standard rooms do feel very small, and are clunky with four guests 2) Roaring Fork is a cluster. Ordering process is not streamlined well at all, and food takes more time than you would expect from a Quick Service and 3) The shared bus experience that you mention in your review

  • @kurts7969
    @kurts7969 5 років тому

    Do you really want to buy into a resort because the current management is good? That seems like something that could easily and quickly change (for the worse ). The physical layout and location seem like more reliable measures for the future. Am I missing something?

  • @bandme796
    @bandme796 5 років тому +2

    My ONLY "con" of staying at Wilderness Lodge was the transportation. I had emergency surgery a few weeks before our trip and had to use a mobility scooter to get around. My mom always uses a scooter and there is only enough room on the busses for 2 scooters at a time. A few times one of us had to wait for the next bus because someone else was in line ahead of us. Getting on and off the bus and boats was difficult. There was only 1 bus driver who helped me steer the scooter into place. The rest of the time I had to back up and pull forward quite a few times making all the other passengers wait while I was completely embarrassed. The boat was miserably cold in December and the cast member on the boat told me he didn't want to close the door. We decided that if/when we go back we will probably stay at the contemporary because getting on and off the monorail was so much easier and faster.

    Roaring Fork, even after a couple renovations is still a bit of a confusing mess when it comes to ordering food. Miscommunication occurs too often if you have to ask for anything allergy related in a change. It's not that they will not accommodate, but they do not make it easy to get it done. Really wish they didn't take away breakfast service at Geyser Point.

    Artist Point was AMAZING! We just went there 2 days ago for the first time to do the character meet and greet. The food presentation was so cool, even my kids are still talking about their meals there, lol! (5 and 7 year old boys!!!) The meals were delicious, the desserts were fantastic! And the best part was the characters, of course Snow White was great, but meeting the dwarves was so fun, and the Queen was the best!!! (Don't call her the Evil Queen, she doesn't like it, lol!!)

    The music at all the Disney Resorts is great, but it's especially fantastic at the Wilderness Lodge.
    I agree with Pete, the main pool is a bit too small for the resort, but the outstanding pool around the corner behind Boulder Ridge more than makes up for it.

    As a Copper Creek owner too we love it so much! The service and food is always spectacular!! A con for us is also the size of the main pool and how bright those lights are at night especially when you have a roon that faces the pool.

    I don’t find the theme to be overly impressive. Being from Canada the whole “nature” theme isn’t super appealing. I do find the lobby to be impressive but the rooms weren’t fantastic. Dvc show is VERY pro wilderness and I sometimes feel they wear the rose coloured glasses when talking about the resort. It’s a decent resort but definitely not a top 5 for me personally.

    I really wanted to love this resort but there were a few things that hold it back just a little for me 1) Shared bus transportation as mentioned by Pete 2) small "main" pool 3) small-ish rooms - definitely felt more like converted hotel rooms 4) loud lobby area due to open restaurant(Whispering Canyon?)- would give edge to Jambo House or Grand Californian imo.

    I live in RI and agree with Cory it feels like the northeast. We love the hotel but the transportation to the parks isn't ideal. We like to be able to walk to at least one park. Our home resort is the Beach Club and that doesn't feel like home it's not decorated like beaches in New England.

    We bought dvc at the lodge because it’s our favorite. The only negative is that the pool area is just not lit well. I understand that want it to look a certain way, but when you travel with lots of kids, it’s a small issue when you use the pool late

    Just want to throw my comments from my stay at WL/CC in early Sept. '19. I was not impressed wit it. It was nice, but I didn't get "more" out of it than what it was. but there were a few factors.
    1) We didn't check in at the desk. we did the online check in, so when we got to the lobby, we went in shifts to change from our airport clothes to DS clothes. Luckily by the time my wife got back with the kids, our room was ready, so we headed there. Stopped by the DVC desk area, asking how to get to the room. CM wasn't sure, and really didn't offer any help to get to the room. (room 5001 or something, 2br, copper creek). It didn't help that they were coating the flooring of the main lobby (behind the check in desk/bell service area, as well as the indoor stream area). And one of the 3 elevators was down for repair (that was a repeat from our BLT trip the year prior!)
    2) Got to the room, was a bit smaller (2br) than we were used to with BLT. Room looked nice, but had a damaged return air vent, and one of the bathroom sliding doors didn't shut property.
    3) Not really their fault, but our 2yo son was running around the room, and ran face first into the edge of the table. this was 30 seconds before we were going to get some food and head to DS. The table sticks out a bit, and has very sharp edges. Compared to BLT (Theme here?) where their table is rounded and kind of tucked in so as to not have protruding edges. Poor guy had a huge gash under his eye (luckily didn't do anything to his eye).
    4) The food was...meh at best. Went to Roaring fork before DS (after they eye incident) wife was excited to have the turkey sandwich. which was sold out (only way we knew was because i was told when I went to order.) And this wasn't at 9pm. Was closer to 4pm. You can't make a turkey sandwich??? really? And we then had dinner at Whispering Canyon another night. place was EMPTY. "DO YOU HAVE A RESERVATION???? I DON"T THINK WE CAN SEAT YOU" um.. there are probably 85% open tables, and nobody waiting. you really have that many people coming in in the next hour? The food was much better here and our server was good, but still had a bad taste in the way our party was greeted.
    5) The bus stops. Why is bus stop #3 not covered? and why do deluxe resort share buses? (that was a complaining at BLT as well) Nothing like getting early to a bus to then have to treck to another resort, or stop at a resort first before being taken to ours. (Especially since this is a deluxe resort)
    6) The gift shop. Had my purchase from Star Wars/HS sent back to the resort. checked off Wilderness lodge. Said it would be in the next day after 3pm. Went down when we got back from the parks. Couldn't find it. Turns out it was sent to the campground! How? why? can't people read? What's worse is that I was told "this always happens" Well if it always happens, a) have a runner avaiable to get it within the hour and B) TRAIN YOUR DAMN STAFF TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FORT WILDERNESS AND WL! So anyway, I was told it would be there in the AM, fine. we were checking out that next day and I would like to have my stuff so I can pack it. Went down the next morning, and boom, still not there. Talked to the manager, and she asked what were were doing. I said we are checking out and going to DS until our DME bus comes to take us to the airport. She offered to just mail the merch home for free (nice, but waiting another week to get and possibly having it still get lost? no thank you). She did take my cell and said she'd see that it got back to WL before we left for the airport. She calls around 11am and said it came in and wanted to deliver it to us. I said we were in DS and she seemed a bit miffed because we weren't at the lodge. Sorry, we weren't leaving until 4pm, so we weren't going to sit in the lobby for 8 hours. but at least in the end i did get my stuff.
    7) But i much say that the cast members didn't seem as friendly as when we stayed at BLT. Maybe it was because we never really came in the front door we did the side bus entrance. Maybe because of all the work refinishing the lobby floor, but all in all, we just didn't get that "welcome home" vibe as we did at BLT (or when we stayed AoA or PO:FQ)
    This was our first trip to WL, and we had just come off an amazing BLT stay, but i think our son getting a black eye really put a dark clout over the hotel. We will be back as it is a DVC Home for us. I hope this was just an isolated stay with a bunch of things adding up to more than what they seem.
