As a Thai, I miss the old Great Chao phraya river. It doesnt have that much floods and the water was so clean. But now the Chao phraya river is still great.
Thanx for uploading. One can only dream to see this live today. Making the same trip today, you'll only see plastic, rubbish, plastic and more plastic. The turtles are dead long time ago. It's so sad. The water looked even clean back then.
I adore Thailand and her both amazing people and nature!! Especially in the 1970’s! People had much more style! And an appropriate dresscode was mandatory!! Even among tourists... Unlike these days, unfortunately 😏
None of the tourists were backpackers back then, you all dressed elegantly and braved the heat, the men in long pants and the women in the same dresses they would wear in the West.
At 0:32, the sign says : 8 KM to Lad Phrao and 19KM to Bangkok (Location of Democracy Monumental; KM.0). I guess this point is on Vibhavadi Road (I can recognise the side canal; now it's in black full of waste garbage with terrible smell) around Lak Si or Chatuchak district. Oh, that poor dead dog at 5:25 floating.
I'm Thai.
When I was 2 years old but now I am 52.
Thank you for the memories.
I wish I could visit Bangkok that time. I was 6 months old in 1974. Thank you for this. So many things did change ....
WOW Look how clean the river is... amazing.. Now it's so dirty.

I first visited BKK in 1993, and you could still see people bathing and doing laundry in the river - that never happens these days.

Did you see that truck hauling enourmous teak logs? That was the era when Thailand was logging its ancient teak forests outy of existence...
None of the tourists were backpackers back then, you all dressed elegantly and braved the heat, the men in long pants and the women in the same dresses they would wear in the West.

still can swim.. now u get sick from this water just from one drop on your lips...
