Curiosity question, can you have a dog breeding program with one breeding pair? And could you have a breeding program with one dad and 2 moms? Or do you have to have different dogs for the breeding program? Idk if I want to breed dogs or not so I'm doing a lot of research on it just in case.
I wouldn’t recommend it, 1-5 is how many times a male should be bred, and I think females usually 1-3 depending on breed. So at some point you’d need to pay a stud fee, or pay for a female to breed with your male. Plus if someone wants breeding rights, and it’s a rare breed you don’t want someone to breed with any family heritage, as it can cause problems with inbreeding. And also ask yourself, what can I do to better this breed with this breeding? Say if female has a flaw in shoulders, you’d want a male who doesn’t have that flaw, so make sure the dogs compliment eachother in that aspect. Make sure your dogs are proven, steady temperaments, health tested, titles would be great. Have a reason for each pairing, and have people on a waitlist before each litter! Make sure homes are lined up. Also make sure you’d be able to take puppies back no matter what.
