    When you do A.C. Volts, it would be interesting to see how the device handles a square wave signal with DC offset. By default the XR2206 produces such an output and is what I use. I find different multimeters have wildly different DC, AC, and frequency measurements based on whether the mode blocks DC, uses True RMS, or requires zero crossing for Hz. I feel this would be an improvement over putting the leads into a high voltage socket with a standard sine wave, and would only cost a small amount for the signal generator kit. Of course Hugo has access to much better equipment 😮I’m impressed how low in frequency the unit reviewed here measures and how stable the reading is.

      Hi Paul, thank you for sharing this careful comment, really appreciated. Thanks for watching. PS - I have here one of those XR2206 function generators to assemble on a video and don't get the time to make it! I have to solve that somehow 😁

    When measure a capacitor you should discharge it to have a more accurate capacitance value

      CAREFULLY discharge it. :P

      @@ElectroAtletico those are small capacitance capacitor so it can simple short there two pin :)

      Hi, the reference boards don't have energy on them, never, even so, on future videos I will short the capacitators before making the tests, just to be sure. Thanks for sharing and watching.

    Excuse me for being blunt but I must say that your method to measure AC and DC current is flawed. Let me elaborate:
    DC current: After zeroing out the meter's inherent offset and Earth's magnetic field you MUSTN'T move the clamp meter. An ever so small change in its position results in a change in the detected magnetic field of the Earth and the measurement will be false. Depending on the meter and the environment the error may be tens of milliamps or more. You don't have to care when you are measuring several amps but in the milliamp range the error may be big.
    Leakage current: The two wires must be as close to each other as possible and in the center of the clamp so their magnetic fields exactly cancel out as seen by the Hall sensors (DC) or the clamp (AC). In the video they are not. That's the reason you are measuring several milliamps of leakage current where there actually is none. Maybe that's the way you simulate leakage current but it doesn't demonstrate reliability and accuracy of the device.
    What I expected to see but haven't learned from the video is how reliable leakage current measurement is when the bundled pair of wires is not centered in the clamp. This is the source of errors in cheap clamp meters.

      Hi, I'm also very blunt, don't worry. Truth always, it is always better to know the truth and not sugar quoted. Regarding your comment, I'll take in consideration your suggestion for the next videos, thank you for your comment and the time you spent on it, really appreciated.

    How can there be leakage on DC?

    • @TechCornerTV
      @TechCornerTV  5 місяців тому

      Hi, thats a good question that goes behind my knowledge. Maybe someone here can help. Thanks for watching.

    • @editfarkas4503
      @editfarkas4503 4 місяці тому

      Why not? A DC circuit may also have zero and ground, and so leakage. Not a typical scenario for an electrician though. :) However, the way DC leakage is measured in the video is completely wrong. First, there is no leakage to begin with. :) The device shows the net result of the two wires placed incorrectly and the change in the position of the meter (effect of Earth's magnetic field) after it had been zeroed.

    Your leakage current measurement is incorrect ! You need to clamp the live and neutral wires without the ground wire, otherwise you get always zero current!

    Translate to English:
    The Leakage Detection function is the most interesting one of this clamp, but it doesn't work very well with my tests. I have been able to compare it with another more professional and also much more expensive leakage detection clamp, and the values that this WinApex clamp offers are very incorrect and unreliable. Furthermore, they are not very stable.

      Hi, unfortunatelly I don't have another clamp here with the same feature to compare the results, but I trust on what you're saying. Thanks for sharing and for watching.
