Thanks for your video. I think that Crystal Radios have a resurgence in popularity because of the simplicity and accessibility of the technology. Literally anyone can build a Crystal radio that works. I remember the satisfaction I had when I tuned my first station on a radio I built myself.

Thanks for making this easy to understand video. Just a note on Mr Edwards book. I was able to download a software copy from amazon for 10 dollars.

Great video on the wave trap, this is a different design from the series resonate circuit with a coil and variable capacitor. What makes this circuit better?

Hi, i built a ferrite rod radio and installed it on my handlebars of my bicycle. It works fantastic but I have one issue. If I tune to a weak signal instead of static I hear a buzzing sound since it’s powered by a 12 V dynamo on my tire. I tried to put a choke inductor before the positive terminal and a total of 570 uF of electrolytic filtering caps with leds to ground between them and I reduced the humming significantly. The noise is made by the RPMS of the AC generator

Where would you suggest I go to learn the foundation of knowledge needed to beginning learning about radio?? High school physics 1? Do you know of any basic level books you could recommend in addition to “Radios that Work for Free”?

      Hi, Cory
The very best book for a beginner in radio is "Elements Of Radio" by Marcus and Marcus published by Prentice-Hall. It's out of print but you can still find a copy. This is exactly what you need.

Greetings - thanks for the clear explanation. In your experience, How critical is the diameter of the core ? If I use the right length of wire of the right gauge, Does it matter if the core diameter is different ?

This trap has to be wound on a 1 1/2 inch diameter from. Go to your local packing store and get a mailing tube.

Do you actually ever turn on the radios so we can hear them? Any actual demonstrations? Or are you too in love with your own voice to shut up for a minute and let us hear the radios?

So we never hear the radio, only you talking....All your videos are the same.

To hear my crystal radios play on UA-cam, I would have to use an audio amplifier which would not give you a realistic picture of a crystal radio.
