The 9th year of the Migration is the year when Islam spread in the Arabian Peninsula with all of its grandeur. On the one hand, people came to Madinah in large groups to become Muslims and to pay allegiance to the Messenger of God; on the other hand, he sent officials and governors to arrange the religious and administrative affairs of the tribes that became Muslims. To sum up, Islam experienced its most magnificent and splendid period in the 9th year of the Migration. However, there were some states that could not put up with the magnificence of this bright sun. One of them was the Byzantine Empire, which was one of the strongest states of that time. Heraclius was the Byzantine Emperor then. See what happened?

Moral of this incident: One should be ready to sacrifice ones needs/necessities for Allah
    & His Din.
3 factors that may prevent us from doing so:
    1) Love of Family & Relations,
    2) Love of our jobs/businesses,
    3) Love of our Worldly possessions

Was it an offensive war ?
    Or a defensive war?

Strange!! Because in the battle of the Mutah, Sahaba retreated, how can we claim that as a Victory?

I reckon because they were very ill equipped compared to their adversaries and because if I'm not mistaken, 3 of their commanders died that battle, and when they paused to rest in the middle of the night they retreated to not cause any more casualties.. in their minds it was a victorious retreat because they still fought a good battle.

And take in mind also, that's the first contact the muslims had with a superpower, in which they stopped that army from advancing into north Arabia.. lost the battle by retreating? Or won the war by adding enough casualties for the opposition to halt them and return them back to Roman lands..

@@SK-xp9xi in that sense then what is a victory and what is a loss and what is a stalemate, if we define victory according to the way it suits us, then we have never lost at all!

@@sharfuddinmohammed77 a victory for them was stopping the Roman army from coming deeper into Arabia? Did they halt? Or did they move forward? I think we know the answer hence they went back.

After our Prophet SAW passed and Abu Bakr RA ruled
The first battle of the romans was called Battle of Tabuk as well
It was 2000 Muslims hungry traveling around 1200 km from the Holy city
    VS
8000 heavily armoured well fed romans
    They lost
They lost so bad, not a single one survived
    Allah SWT knows best
