The film was good but the ending was a bit anti-climactic.
felt more like it was setting up for another movie
Film was mostly mid the only good thing was little bit of the beginning and mostly the end but why would they save the biggest part of the film till the very end at the end I would say the side plot is what dragged the entire film down
I loved it. The action, the humor, the gadgets. This was what I pictured Ghostbusters 3 would be, and it didn't disappoint.
@Millers-Meat-LockerI don’t think you had you type a whole essay to make a point lol
@Millers-Meat-Locker I mean at least it’s better than madame web
@Millers-Meat-Lockeryou've been copy pasting this garbage essay, just say you didn't like it. That's you're opinion
@Millers-Meat-Locker except everything you said is incorrect, to me and many others because we don't share your schizophrenic views
@@WillPaskee It wouldn't surprise me if this guy never even saw the movie, just saying crap that's not true, or we don't agree with, it's like WWE fans who call AEW crap but they don't watch AEW, they just hate Tony Khan.
As an 80s kid who has seen every Ghostbuster movie in the cinema... this is the 2nd worst out of the 5. Time to leave this franchise alone now
Below this has to be the 2016 one right?
My son and I went to see the new Ghostbusters movie 2 hours ago and we had a great time
I just watched it, 4 main takeaways:
- Most jump scares out of all GB movies
- Literally a “Real GB 30 mins episode extended to 2 hours” type of format
- The Phoebe / Melody drama was almost unnecessary.
- The Final battle against Garraka was too short.
Bonus: The “fire magic” against Garraka, just diluted the respect I had for the proton’s pack.
Conclusion: This is better than Ghostbusters 2… but still needs improvement to match GB 1.
I mean for me it's still impressive for the proton pack.
Like the fire magic belongs to these ancient races that a presumably blessed or granted powers by super natural means.
Yet these races and groups died out due to time.
Meanwhile the modern day group with no external knowledge came up with there own modern alternatives which are arguably just as effective if not more so being able to handle multiple world ending threats.
Like the fire magic guy is like a last in a generation of some super ancient race but the Paks are literally made to ensure that humanity can outlass them.
exactly what I’m sayin!! I was hoping it would be Spangler playing chess and we got this awkward lgbtq friendship
@@Little_NightmarishDreams you're joking right...why does it need to have romance. They already had enough family drama and esteem issues. Adding romance just makes it more cluttered
@@rushalias8511 that’s what it felt like
i personally love the melody stuff
I really liked this movie, pretty funny. Also loved the lore added to the Ghostbusters world!
Saw it tonight. We had a blast! It was funny and heartfelt, a lot of tense moments. We loved it.
Movie is so horrible
@Millers-Meat-Lockerwow not gonna lie that actually sounds pretty ridiculous when you put it that way 😂 like how the heck was she gonna make that work?
For sure, it moves along well, and the "Q Branch" ghost lab was great. And Kumail was great. Lots of triggered basement dwellers having a hard time about it, though 😂
At least you're not bitter.
…I enjoyed it too…. And I was around to the OG in 84… I was 5.
My rank
Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters 2
Afterlife
Frozen empire
Accurate
I enjoyed the movie very much. For my 5 year old son, it’s his favorite movie aside from Ghostbusters 2. I think he remembers the Real Ghostbusters episode it’s based on though. Fun film. Must see for my fellow busters of ghosts.
I always wanted to see a concept like this brought to screen
My issue with this movie was that the villain, Garraka being only used in the 3rd act
I loved him but he should've showed up more
Too many ominous build-up cliffhanger scenes. I swear the street froze over about twelve times and there was a close up of a frozen object or the orb or whatever.
I mean other than vigo that’s kinda all the villains
0:02 love to bust 💀💀💀
I liked how they didnt share much of Phoebe’s storyline in trailers. But also you can tell this movie got soooo many scenes cut for time. Stuff in trailers that arent in movie. Overall it was fine
I thought it was really fun I'd say it's my third favorite film under the original masterpiece and Afterlife. I really like the idea of having multiple Ghostbusters teams and facilities with their own containment units stationed in different places. I feel like they should take future Ghostbusters films outside of New York and show us more of the history and lore of ghost, this felt like a good first step in a new direction for the franchise.
I’m gonna give it a 6 out of 10 here’s why: I thought (from the trailer) that the villain and the climax would last longer but the climax didn’t happen for a while which made me bored for a while but when the climax did come is was incredible
What made no sense to me was why lucky a townie from the first movie suddenly knows so much about the Ghostbusters world in this movie that she’s working in Winston’s lab that made no sense
I hated the pacing of it, and there were way too many characters, plus the whole "turning into a ghost" part was so freaking dumb and I hated it. With that being said I still enjoyed the movie as a whole. The base plot point of the movie is solid. I liked the villain and I liked some things they introduced. I also disliked some things they did such as having so many characters that were NOT necessary. If you can erase a character from a movie and it changes nothing (or even improves it) then that shows how pointless it was to have them. They rushed through a few parts and added humor at the worst times when they could have been fleshing out the true characters and the future of the Ghostbusters.
I thought they were going to build on the "ghost friend" part because it made little sense. Either that or I thought the girl was going to flat out be evil. When she was invited in, like a vampire, and went straight down to the storage container I thought she was going to open it up and release all of the ghosts right then and there. Or better yet...why didn't the Possessor possess the ball that had Garraka in it? It can possess inanimate objects. Well.......the BALL itself was basically a prison. Why couldn't it just possess that and open itself up to release Garraka instead of needing a human to chant? I guess the point is that I wanted this movie to be a little darker in some spots because it was just way too friendly. This movie would have something serious happen and then they'd skip to some corny joke, back to serious, then a long joke. It was just...eh.
Overall I still had fun with it and that's why I didn't hate it. I can nitpick the hell out of this movie because it is NOT perfect by any means, but it's still fun for the nostalgia and action alone. I can see how hardcore fans, or cinephiles, could be strongly put off from this movie because the pacing is terrible, the comedy is mixed, and day time ghostbusting is pretty comical at times and it shouldn't be.
I think possessing the ball is probably the dumbest thing it could.
Like the ball is made specifically to the contain the ghost. I feel like given the nature the ball itself would just absorb and store the ghost inside as a self defense mechanism. It would be too easy to free it otherwise.
That aside...yeah that whole becoming a ghost thing was stupid.
Ngl if they wanted to go the route they could have built up as something much darker. I mean the whole idea of becoming a ghost is quite literally wanting to taste death. Phoebe gets depressed by being benched feels isolated....gets manipulated into thinking death is an answer...you can see how dark this could go and how it could have easily made the villain even more sadistic and cruel if they insighted this beyond just employing a henchman.
Over all I agree it's still a fun movie
Nadeem and the whole firemaster role felt VERY Ghostbusters to me, but that's mostly because I loved the cartoon show and many episodes featured characters like him, just some random people finding out they inherited supernatural powers from their ancestors.
I think the new movie tried to go more in the "The Real Ghostbusters" direction and I loved that. Even the possessed Ecto-1 is an homage to that.
I just rewatched the episode "Moaning stones" and I'm really sure that's where Frozen Empire got the idea for Nadeem from.
Does anyone know what the deal was with the dinner with the ghost inside it scene? it's clear that when they go outside Phoebe looks up and the name of the restaurant is "Melody" but then they never touch on it again !!!!
I thought maybe that's where she died? Maybe i missed something?
It was alluding to her being a liar. It was pretty obvious from the get-go with her reaching towards the lever for the grid.
As a Ghostbusters fan since 2 years old, I agree with everything here really. Too many characters, went a bit too bizarre with the fire bending, but overall an okay Ghostbusters movie. Definitely should be shifting more towards the creepy/eerie atmosphere of the first movies though.
Since 2 years ago really you don’t have any idea what a good ghostbusters movie should be like if all you’ve seen is last movie
@@jessepike3565 two years old, 14 years ago, not since 2 years ago
@@bruhboi333 okay well you should have put that people can decipher your messages

I just about lost my mind when Ecto 1 became possessed.I never knew how much I needed that. And, then, it just ended. But I had a lot of fun with the movie. Agree, there was no scene of awe / magic / wonder. The movie needed a scene like that. For me, it was StayPuft's appearance in the first movie and Trevor's first drive of Ecto 1 in Afterlife.
I have to say one thing Chris, you are one of my favorite UA-camrs if not, my favorite, because you review movies but in the way of just a fan, not a fan of Movies, which is a fan of these properties and movies, and I love the background with the different merchandise I love that you have a sponsor with a movie theater there’s a Cinemark where I live and only went to one and it was a good. Theatre didn’t have a lot of merch at the time it was still relatively new but each time I went three times. I got cool stuff I bought a star plushy from guardians of Galaxy 2 unfortunately I couldn’t get up because they sold out but I live in Regal and just like you I collect movie theater, popcorn buckets. I have a few a lot to list but I love that you have the pop and the mask and popcorn buckets and you know you go out of your way to also talk about like, the memorabilia of these movies so every time we post a video I get excited
Biggest plot hole was when they said that they knew the fire house had links to the other world when in fact they only bought the property in the 1st one because it was cheap..
Nobody really did anything except Phoebe and Ray. They're kind of just there.
The British ghostbuster guy seemed far more competent than any of the actual ghostbusters in the firehouse.
Dan looked like he was having fun.
Spoilers:
To be honest, I liked the freindship with Melody and Phoebe, that scene where Melody says how Pheobe is inviting her inside a ghost extermination headquarters when she’s a ghost was hilarious!
And Kumail Nanjiani as well as Lars were super funny in this film but Garraka had barely any screen time in this film!
I just watched it today and it was really great a solid 100/10 I hope there’s more on the way in the future
Could the animated movie be an “Extreme Ghostbusters” reboot?
IT'S LOOKS LIKE THE MINI-PUFTS ARE THE GHOSTBUSTERS' VERSION OF
THE MINIONS😂😂😂
we could get a Mini Puft film
I enjoyed it.
"Busting makes me feel good".
It did remind me of "The Real Ghostbusters".
I was entertained and enjoyed it. A bit disappointed theres no eerie, creepy scenes like how the first one was. Ive now given up on hoping a ghostbusters movie will do that
What needs to be addressed about Stay Puft is putting a stop to that officially. That's an undefeated enemy. "The Traveller " The chosen form of The Destructor. They need to beat that guy once and for all.
Im gonna see it still and enjoy it.. as long as the original cast makes a cameo and they take thier time introducing the new Ghostbusters im a life long fan
I personally wish peter and zedmor had more screen time but ray makes up for it
Things I wish I saw:
1. A scene where Ecto-1 driven by The new Ghostbusters driving along side Ecto-1A who's being driven by the original Ghostbusters are driving side by side to defeat the main villain in a true final battle. (Since both cars are separate cars)
2. We actually see an Army of Ghosts.
3. One of the original Ghostbusters dying by the main Villain to show how threatening he is.
4. Longer run time & even an Oscar cameo.
was the movie bad?
To me, I liked it, it was a pretty cool movie to watch, but it’s just my opinion, I just rlly love ghostbusters (except 2016)
no. it’s a solid installment despite critics. it doesn’t reinvent the wheel or anything but it’s fun and does what it needs to respectively.
NO. IT WAS AWESOME.
No it just was good not amazing as the original of course.
I give it a nine because bill murray wasn't in the whole movie
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire was the best movie I’ve watched in like 4-5 years
Just watched with my family and we absolutely loved this movie. Hopefully there will be a 3rd.
I very much agree with everything you said, nice review, I am gonna dig into the other ones as well
They completely forgot about the tech who got killed by the little acid vomit ghost upstairs!
Lars? he's still alive! I don't think Pukey killed him
Just got home from the theater. It was a let down for me. The set up was great. But they didn’t stick the landing
It was a cool, fun movie nuthing to take seriously
Chris, you gotta remember that a short time with the big bad at the end is something that the other Ghostbusters movies did as well. In the first one, Gozer was kinda there and gonna without really doing anything, despite the build up. Same thing with Vigo in Ghostbusters 2 (only having a slightly higher threat value). Having a build up to the big bad, only to have a short time with it before it's defeated isn't anything new. I think the most time we got with the main antagonist was the return of Gozer in Afterlife.
I loved it. I hope there’s a third one tbh
Afterlife was Ghostbusters 3, Frozen Empire is the 4th film
Honestly knew the critics would probably tear it apart but as a Ghostbuster fan who grew up with the movies it was a funny movie and I enjoyed it. Fire master had me dying 😂 Also got a Stay Puft Bucket.
Garaka got more screentime than Gozer in the original.
I think it's time for a reboot maybe go the same way with the turtles rout make a cartoon similar to the turtles movie than just reboot a new Ghostbusters movie with the original core 4 and plz Slimer be in that movie
Came in not expecting much, but I LOVED this movie. It's actually really good and I'm a sucker for Paul Rudd 😂
As a fan of Ghostbusters. I can tell you that Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire isn't great.
It is uneven, and lacks focus but do like the treatment of the legacy characters and the expansion of the world of the Ghostbusters and the way everything looks.
If you are a fan you should enjoy this. On the whole it is recommended. 6.5/10
It reminded me of the originals and I love the new villain and it's a 10 out of 10 from me!
Well the bad guy didnt force the police to do an extended dance number.........so that right there makes this movie a winner 😂
when did that happen? GB2?
SAM RAIMI SHOULD TAKE OVER THE FRANCHISE. sorry for yelling i'm just excited LOL
I was really worried you were gonna slay this film big time. I'm glad as an OG Ghostbusters fan you were positive towards it.
Thank you.
Negativity will ultimately kill a 3rd movie!
So yeah let's generate hypes and thoughts for the next one.
I really enjoyed it as a Ghostbusters fan. I don't see all this stuff you see. In your reviews. I'm just watching a movie and enjoying it.
It feels like they cut about 30 minutes cut of the movie.
Too many people to follow.
The other kids shouldn't have been there.
Busting makes me feel good!
The juice was definitely loose for this movie
Bust was said way to many times in this video
The cartoon series explores a world that is full of ghosts and the occasionally supernaturally powered individual. It’s a slice of life show but where they end up saving the city more often then I’m sure they would like. Frozen Empire really plays into to that dynamic, and if the series is going to continue that’s exactly what it needs. It can’t fall back on using Gozer again. It needs a new threat each time. Frozen Empires villain fits in so well with spectral alumni from the show like Samhein and The Boogie Man. This movie was a lot of fun and I’m excited for the next ghost chasing romp.
I loved this movie and the ending now lets us have new stories with new unique ghosts and has evolved into an even bigger mythos, it was packed in the theater and everyone cheered
They tried to make Nadeem like Rick Moranis' character in the classic movies. Yeah.. didn't work for me. 👻🇵🇭
I’m just pointing it out! Key master and Fire master should’ve met up in the credits or the main movie!
Its all over the place and they changed Phoebe into a typical teen. Gone is her deafpan delivery that made her the Spengler successor that really drove her character in Afterlife. Podcast hanging with Ray was a cool choice, but he should have had a better role in this one.
Jason Reitman needs to take over directing again. He captured the essence of Ghostbuster. This new director was horrible
100% agree
Finally sat down with my kids to watch this last night.
I must say, it was very slow building. It took forever for the big bad guy to appear, then in a few minutes, he was defeated. I definitely enjoyed Afterlife much more, where this one is forgettable. 😔
Good movie and I really liked the call backs to ghostbusters 1,2 and the attic scene had a buch of callbacks like with the helmet from Ghostbusters 2 when they were in the sewers. I didnt like some missing charaters tho like Dana and Louis. But bill murray was done dirty
When I went it was so cute to see a little 7 year old or younger wearing a full Ghostbusters costume with pack, I believe a animated series would bring in the younger audiences because the love for Ghostbusters is still alive, this movie was extremely complicated and boring and anticlimactic, but at least it didn't ruin the legacy characters like other franchises has. I feel like it is still respecting the legacy, for me that is the most important thing is to keep respecting the legacy, though I believe they are introducing too many characters.
Bustling makes me feel good
🤨🤨🤨🤨
I watched this movie last night in 4D it was the experience and movie overall was amazing
There was daytimebusting in the original remember catching the runner in Central Park,
I want to see a full directors cut. There was SO MUCH they left out. A lot of awesome stuff that was in the trailers that wasn't in the movie. I'll see it again
I enjoyed it but there was no reason to have Lucky and Podcast in the movie.
I hope we get a third one I really enjoyed this one The franchise is on a good path. Let’s continue it!!!!!!!!!
I loved it !! so good !
If they wait 10 yrs for a reboot the OG ghostbusters will be ghosts. 😂
I thought the ideas were interesting but this could’ve been better with less characters and as a season of television. You could spend like a whole hour fighting against the new bad guy, building his character, and create a far less anticlimactic and weird final battle. There could be more characters without it feeling too stuffed for time. Plus, more Dan Aykroyd and Mckenna Grace
* Also could’ve bumped up the humour and creep factor IMO. More things like the opening scene, which I did really like
Really like your idea to explore the whole not every ghost should be blasted and trapped it's something that the toons explored a bit. Kumails character believe it or not actually fits in with the gb universe, the toons and comics have had people do strange and amazing things beyond proton streams
I liked it, but I think there was things they could’ve done better
I thought it was good. Not as good as Afterlife, but a solid sequel. I think if they are going to keep using the OGs though... they need to get more to do. If they want to go the family... stop the nostalgia.
To me it was way better than afterlife tbh
Wasn’t gozer in containment unit with zual and Vince? So when it blew wouldn’t they now have escaped?
I didn’t see it in theaters I watched it on Netflix. I loved it so much
They need to stop with the Marshmallow men, other than toy sales, they make 0 sense being in the movie!
They should have had Ray, Phoebe, and Trevor working in the lab. They should have had Callie, Gary, and two new adult hires being trained in the field by Winston. They should have dropped the ghost girlfriend trope and just had Garraka come out of the orb while being tested at the lab. Ray could have found the information he needed at the library himself. He didn’t need Patton Oswalt to explain anything. After the ECU blew up, they should have lured Garakka to Gozers temple and reopened the portal to send Garakka to the other side. That sets the stage for using new tech to dispose of ghosts instead of giant ECUs that get overfilled.
The ghost friend was pointless.
What would have been an interesting plot is Pheobe's spirit getting sucked out of her body. It would have been more interesting if the villain frozen the machine before it was able to put her back into her body. I wanted to see her be the only one to bust the villain as a ghost. It would've shown that regardless if she's alive or dead she will always be a Ghostbuster.
I agree with Chris. It was a decent installment in the franchise.
I’ve always tried getting into ghostbusters and I never could just watched the new one and still the same these movies never hook me
My opinion on the movie is that it was boring, but I think it should have been maybe ended with a cliffhanger, with the ghost God taking over New York since the movie is called Frozen empire, but the problem is with every movie they keep adding more cast members, and keeping the originals, and I find the sense of humor very dry, the original Ghostbusters are hilarious, but the modern-day cast and crew is boring and angsty
Phoebe/Ghost Girl relationship and the Firemaster derail the franchise.....
I kinda just figured Garaka knew about the lab and was the one that assumed Phoebe would do what she did, not Melody. I mean we know Melody could hear him even through the brass orb, and it was clear to me at least that Garaka was aware of his surroundings by the way Nanjiani's character's grandmother hid it in a sound proof room. with that said, we could have SEEN that so there was less confusion, I too would have handled certain scenes a little differently. but I still loved it
well it's obvious that Melody was manipulating her, she probably knew that she would like to know what being a ghost is like
I was coming into this movie. Wanted to be at least a good time not only I had a good time. It was actually really good. I love how creative it got my boy slimmer return in this movie was actually really funny. The last one and it took some risk which I respect definitely a banger 9/10 and as a Ghostbusters fan still a 9/10
I 🤔 the movie wasn't bad it my needs a Director cut i really thought it needed stretch out so maybe Ghost Corps👻 could make a live action Ghostbusters Netflix series like Strange things.
Just watched it with my dad, it’s amazing just like the other three ghostbusters…..we don’t talk about the 2016 Monster Breakers
I keep thinking a ghostbuster team of Rudd, Acaster, Nanjiani and Oswald might work better?
As a lifelong fan of the OG movie, I have mixed feelings about this one.
It did have some good comedy and action, but there were too many characters and side stories that really didn't mix well with the overarching threat of Garraka. Of course, he's defeated during the last 10 minutes of the movie. And the entire side plot about Phoebe and Melody didn't really go anywhere. Was that even needed? Was the fire bender needed? I still rate it a 7.5 out of 10, despite it's flaws and plotholes.
I love your videos
It could've been about a half hour longer
Just saw it, I honestly loved it. I think I may have liked it more than Afterlife. Not sure where the hate is coming from.
I just saw it , I thought it was Great!!!
#3Cfilms hey Chris I figured out a Easter egg that a lot of you guys missed in your spoiler reviews and one instance you touched on half of that Easter egg and then you went to a different direction with it for instance the possessed car and Christine if you remember the are there Ghostbusters cartoon they had a possessed car and the other half to that is the first ghost that was in the containment unit for the new facility that was possessing the discman when they extract the ghost first it takes on the logo of the original Ghostbusters will the point they had it all then when it's in the containment window of the containment unit it looks like the symbol in the front of the possessed car
So in one scene you get two separate ghostbuster logos as a Easter egg if you go back and watch it pay attention to the containment unit in the new facility
Took my 2 teens to watch it and we liked it a lot!
This movie is a solid 60 or 65%. It has a lot of unnecessary things just for nostalgia, such as the library scene. Use Ray’s Occult for that and get it out of the way instead of going to the Library. You could cut the Melody plot line and have Phoebe try to fight Garraka herself and get tricked and releases him accidentally. Cutting the unnecessary things could add back the deleted scenes we wanted and flesh out the storylines that needed more meat to them such as the Phoebe and Gary stuff, Garraka, and Peck’s role.
