    Tuesday Tips has become essential viewing and not just for Unify owners but, as in this case, to get the best out of the other included virtual instruments. Like others here I have had Dexed for ages and used the presets but this is a really handy tutorial on how to tweak it to make your own. When things get back to normal and someone asks "What kept you going through all of this?" I am pretty sure that "looking forward to Tuesday Tips" will be on the list 👍😎 Huge thanks SkipPy! (by the way where did the "SkipPy" moniker come from and why is it written that way?)

    I have to be honest and tell you I had never heard of DEXED (opps, I Know!) but you talked about it a while ago in one of your live streams, so I got it, then I got Unify and started using DEXED all down to you John.
    Thanks again for everything.

    blown away at the sounds after grabbing this synth HOWEVER the 'show dir' doesn't open a file explorer, only able to launch file explorer via 'load' (windows 64 bit using reaper) (&&& functions as expected in standalone mode, outside of DAW) ... any way, totally would recommend, super happy with the synth. and kinda worried about infinite bliss while browsing the 3k patches in the 'DX7 All The Web' ... also 17:01 totally reminds me of Rhye's opening for "Phoenix"

If you own Unify, particular-sound has an incredible patch set called Synth Motions for retro Synthwave (bit.ly/3aXKqOS). We're working on a very cool library modern SynthWavefor later this year. I just found out about dexed less than a week ago. I have it installed on 3 Raspberry pi’s. I have 2 DX7’s. One has the Grey Matter add on. I also have a TX816 rack unit full with 8 cards. I also have Absynth and FM8. Just installed it on my iPad 2 Pro. I need to figure out how to get the sound banks on the Raspberry pi’s. I think I know how, just need to try it and see if it works. Thanks for this video.

    This was unbelievably helpful. I must say I would have appreciated it if you had taken a few extra minutes to explain and demonstrate each of the different parameters. Of course I can play around with the knobs myself but knowing exactly what each one is doing from a technical sense (which you seem to have knowledge of) would have been very helpful. But great video, thanks so much.

    Is it possible to select the default folder when you want to save and load a preset? When I press "save" it takes me to a certain folder and when I press "load" it takes me to a completely different one. I tried loading a patch to see if it saved the path and opened that folder straight away the next time I loaded something, but it still takes me to the same initial default folder😮‍💨

    • @PlugInGuruVideo
      @PlugInGuruVideo  2 роки тому +1

      There is - Next to each of the 6 OSC "LEVEL" knob is a knob named "Key Vel" which is the sensitivity to velocity. Make sure you look at the Algorithm because the Key Vel knob controls volume on the operators that show up at the bottom row, but any row above they control the sound going from dark to bright timbre by velocity. Hope this helps.

    This is an interesting plugin but my interest in it is layered DX sounds. I can load up two or more instances of Dexed in my DAW, so I'm thinking why should I get Unify? Maybe someone who understands the Unify concept could explain. :) Also, have I understood correctly: Unify can load VST2 plugins? Because that would solve the problem with Cubase 12 not supporting VST2 plugins anymore.

    • @PlugInGuruVideo
      @PlugInGuruVideo  3 роки тому

      Dexed is a plug-in and I don't believe it comes with a standalone version. You need to use Reaper or your DAW of choice, or our own Unify multi-plugin playground that comes as both plugin and standalone. If it doesn't fit your screen you need to increase the resolution of your monitor. Dexed doesn't have any screen resize options.

      Hi there - please contact us at unifysupport@pluginguru.com so we can help you directly. The FULL INSTALLER installs Standalone, VST, VST3 and on the Mac AU plugin formats of Unify. I'd suggest doing a full install again - contact us if you need more specific help. :D

    Do you know if you can make sounds on the iOS version and then transfer that somehow to the VST version inside Unify?

    When the sustain keeps going for me I'll change the preset to fix it like u said, but sometimes It'll keep playin the same note and sound even on the new preset

      Even when the new patch is in the "Current Cart"? Clicking on other patches in the temporary bank WILL sustain notes but from my work with it, clicking a patch in the lower cartridge has always stopped hanging notes. Could be different on your computer because plug-ins sometimes does things like that.... :D

    But can I create a bank of sounds and export them to my physical DX7 over midi transfer?

    • @PlugInGuruVideo
      @PlugInGuruVideo  2 роки тому

      Yes you can.... "Fully supports DX7 input and output Sysex messages; including controller change. This means that you can use this with a native DX7/TX7 as a patch editor and SysEx manager."

      @@kr1340 - I am sorry but I don't have experience doing this - I do own an original DX7 but have not done this or used Bome. So google and UA-cam are your friends.... or maybe a forum somewhere...
