You’re destashing/clutter reducing is strangely soothing to me. I had to laugh when your husband made that comment about what you’re destashing. I have the 4 x 2 IKEA wall and my husband was trying to make me get rid of practically everything! I got my stash down to what ‘sparks joy’ for me. Great video!
Husbands might understand that reclaimed space (especially considering NY real estate prices) may have more value than the discarded items. One hat I used to wear was as a declutter consultant. I employed that metric to help clients understand why less is more.
Thank you for sharing this!!! I'm not ready to declutter my knitting accessories (or my yarn for that matter), though I did recently go through my stash, put the yarn & needles into plastic bins, and ensured they are all within eyesight of where I tend to start knitting projects/have a desire to start a new project. I do have enough yarn at this point, if I am unable to find the yarn I want to knit with from my stash (large enough to be seen from space), then I need to pick a different project. Thank you for sharing your progress! You're giving me some great "end goal" ideas. I found my stash grew out of control after I moved into a larger space (and thus I, naturally, had more space for yarn). I love the idea of "get a cubby, and all of your accessories *must* fit in that cubby).
My own yarn stash was pretty modest... until I inherited my cousin's stash. Since then I've been a little overwhelmed about how to deal with it, so watching your video today was very interesting for me. And inspiring! Thank you.
Mary Downs oh wow! It can be a blessing but also overwhelming to inherit yarn. I’m so glad you were able to get some inspiration! Take it a little at a time and don’t feel guilty for your choices. You’ve got this! ☺️
Oh My! Your Ikea shelf looks amazing now. 👀 Those yarn cards you made for the Harmony blanket are impressive. That's a New-To-Me concept. I LOVE how you displayed your doilies - just precious. 💖 Watching you do this downsizing process was inspiring! 🤗 Thank you for sharing. 🌹

I love seeing your interchangeable needle kits! As someone who started knitting a couple of years ago I'm definitely seeing the value in buying a solid kit over buying each size as needed. Plus it's so compact! I'd love to know which kits you have specifically. Thanks for sharing your process!
I feel you about organizing, I love being organized too💕 but don’t get rid of your notions! I keep my extra supplies in a couple of cute notions bags and then I just take out what I need for the project I’m working on. I actually have a large knitting bag that I keep all my needles, ball sacks, needle protectors and notions/stitch markers in there😄 so I just got to that bag to get what I need for my projects 😄 we always have more than one project going on at a time anyway😂 always get lost
Thank you for sharing your yarn room organization process! It was interesting to see how you chose what to keep and what to donate. It motivated me to have a look through my crafting space and simplify and organize it. I would be curious to see another video in a few months to see how you liked the ‘new’ system and how your yarn room further developed over time. 🙂
WOW what an achievement! You are so strong to have the ability to let go. I struggle every time I do it. I definitely have so much work to do as well. You have a lot of nice gems you could use to run giveaways. Maybe I can get lucky to win a 9” chiaogoo to try the sock thing again - I still haven’t found a way to love knitting them.
We also want to simplify our home and life. My goals for 2023 are: 1) to use up my stash to finish 2 scrapghans, 2) borrow a trailer to remove all the excess furniture / items we don't want or need to declutter, 3) spring clean & organize so we can all enjoy our home to the fullest! This may involve me making decor in a cottage style! ^_^ I'm reading a great book "A Simple Life" by The School of Life that really puts things into perspective. I highly recommend it ;) Edited to add, I have HVAC techs & programmers in my family. When I complained about donating items feeling like a waste of money, they informed me that these items need to be heated or cooled as well and can block efficiency of air flow resulting in more energy & fuel needed to maintain the temperature of rooms in your home. This really made it a lot easier to give away items that are still worth something ... just not to us.
"Do need 5 tape measures? I don't think so. " Me: *sitting in a corner with crochet, knitting, loom knitting, jewelry making and sewing* Yes....😭 Also Me: *only has 2 that I'm constantly forgetting which project bag they could be in*
You are so inspirational! I am pretty bad at organizing but love being organized...lol (so sad you are so far away, I would hire you to organize my craft room). At least I was able to get a bunch of good tips. Thank you. On a side note, I have to say I am really envious of all your cute progress keepers (especially the Simply serving ones ‘cause she doesn’t ship to Canada so I can’t buy them) and stitch markers. I use these a lot.
Thank you. Im new to your channel and I've learned so much. Im new to knitting & just really need to focus on circular knitting needles but can't start out with an expensive set & Ive crocheted for 38 years and wish I would have bought clover hooks from the beginning because there is no better in my book. Any tips on circular knitting needles. God Bless
I've just found your channel and I love it! Can I ask, when you say your scrap yarn for scrap blankets, do you make these scrap yarn balls yourself? How do you attach the yarn together to make into a cake? Thank you, currently binge watching your videos :)
You did an awesome job. looks amazing. I noticed you do not use the Addi colors crochet hooks those are the only hooks I like to use, They are amazing. How much would you be willing to sell set for?
You can absolutely give your completed squares to Goodwill / other thrift store. Some crafter will use them to make a dolly blanket or coasters or something else creative.
I am a long time crocheter. Your video has been the most helpful video I’ve seen yet. Thanks for keeping it real. I have a yarn cabinet now. I hope some day to have a room of my own. I will be using a lot of your ideas to downsize my stash. I have been looking for a crochet hook case just like the “addie”. I would love to know where you purchased it?
For your buttons put them on ribbon and then hang them. I like ribbon lace the best. Thank you for the video. I am going through my craft room. I do many different crafts.
Thank you for sharing this!!! Your video gave me so many ideas on how to organize my yarn stash and the rest of my office. Where did you get the grey felted sling (holding yarn) that is hanging in you Kallax shelf? I would love to get a few of those :)
chococat178 yay! I’m so glad! They grey slings are also from Ikea. Try looking for the Kallax shelf first and the hammocks should pop up next to them (either in the store or online!).
Could you make a project or notion bag out of the labels with your maiden name? I feel your pain. I have a 3500 sq ft home and just begun to pack to move.
So I’m a more worsted weight/dk weight yarn person for now. It seems that the longer people do the crafts, the smaller they enjoy working with. But - my question is - wouldn’t a hat made from fingering weight yarn be Uber thin?

It was really fun to see your process and all your fun yarn and supplies!
Love your carpet.
I LOVE your sweatshirt!!!
Thank you for sharing. It was very inspiring for me to have a dedicated space to store crochet items and other crafts.
If you still have leftovers from your wedding shawl you could make some baby items for yourself or special friends.
Connie Pagel ooh good idea!
I love that

Jessi B thanks! I have two from Knitpicks- the regular set and the short set. Both of my are wooden!

Knitty Natty but you made a great dent😂😂 I have given some of my smaller bags to my daughter to use for my granddaughters small toys👍

Striped Dot I’m glad you enjoyed it! Absolutely!
Thank you for sharing. I am definitely going to start making some dish scrubbies, I’ll be moving soon and I want to have a nice looking sink area!

Hi new friend ❤️your yarn room looks amazing 😊I wish it was that easy to get organized 🤣😂my yarn area is out of control 😩take care my friend ❤️🙏🏼✝️
My insides hurt at the thought of you getting rid of yarn. 😂
Make the special needle gages into Christmas ornaments or into magnets for your fridge
That's a really cute idea!
You should do a giveaway or trade... you could list it in ravelry or just send me some. Lol
Mia Saxour hahaha I will definitely be giving it away!

Great video. Where did you get the glass jar to store your leftover stash?
What a fun video to watch!
UrbanStyleJantine thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Cool! do kaleidoscopes help with color blending? I never thought of that🥰🤔I should get one because I have trouble blending colors sometimes👍
karen compton they certainly can! I didn’t use mine much so I decided to donate it.
Knitty Natty may I ask where you buy them?
karen compton ooh I cannot remember since it was a gift! I would look on Amazon though ☺️
Where did you get the hanging fixed needle hanging apparatus? Have been looking for one. Thanks Natalie.
Trudy Schwartz-Burrill the brand is Lantern Moon I believe!

My bedroom is my yarn room, lol. I've got a closet full of yarn, as well as three boxes sitting on my floor. 😂
Could you remind me who designed the pattern of your Christmas stockings?
Cindy Bogard She Thinks She Can Designs. Love her!
Could you make a project or notion bag out of the labels with your maiden name? I feel your pain. I have a 3500 sq ft home and just begun to pack to move.
Connie Pagel that’s a cute idea. Maybe I can keep just one for that ☺️ Oh my! Best of luck!
OMG my husband has personalized labels too😄
karen compton cute!
Knitty Natty his mom was a huge seamstress 💕
Your studio looks like mine. At least yours is all one medium. I’m a retired art teacher.
So I’m a more worsted weight/dk weight yarn person for now. It seems that the longer people do the crafts, the smaller they enjoy working with.
But - my question is - wouldn’t a hat made from fingering weight yarn be Uber thin?
Make a giant scrap blanket
Make your husband a scarf or pair of socks or slippers with the yarn he gave you.
Seems like you lost your passion. .. but I see your back in your newer videos.
Well done, Natalie. -lajoyagirl
Nancy Morales thank you!
And look at you know 3 year later girl lol
I think the one you’re husband got you is 2 hanks
Yes!
Look
