When I was 13, my Dad bought me my first iPod and a $5 iTunes gift card. This was one of the 5 songs I bought. I remember riding the bus in middle school, listening to the same 5 songs on repeat until I earned enough allowance to buy another gift card 😅
My mother died 14 years ago, this was her favorite song. I come here when i want to feel close to her. I come here when i was to remember her healthy and happy, smiling while she was singing along to this song. ❤
Just saw the plain white t’s live the other day in the Milwaukee zoo. There was easily a couple hundred people there and at one point he quit singing and the crowd sang it to him. Near the end of the song it was so quite you could hear a pin drop. No joke this old guy was standing behind me completely in tears by the end. It was so amazing.
I'm still a kid in 2nd grade/2 years ago/ I asked a 4th grader out she said "im too old for you" you know how much it takes as an eight year old boy to give a 10 year old flowers on valintines day and get a hug a month later get rejected

It's nice seeing all the other people feeling that same strange, unplaceable pain when listening to this song. Being transported to your youth, then straight back to now. A chapter you can't revisit, full of hope and naivety. I'm sorry we can't go back - but at least we're all here in the comments x

This song brings so many memories and nostalgia. Crazy how I'm about to be 20 in less than 3 weeks.... man time flies. But, that's life right? Time flies man... time flies.
I know this is supposed to be a happy song but it sounds sad. I remember hearing this song at a coffee shop on the last day I was in town which was sad. Nostalgia will always and forever be part of you❤
My wife's favourite song.....when we met whilst still in varsity, now 18 years later, she's on the other end of the couch and i decided to play it..... realising the lyrics speaks my journey with her

Lyrics cause I’m bored and I feel like you should know them 😊 Hey there, Delilah What's it like in New York city? I'm a thousand miles away But, girl, tonight you look so pretty Yes, you do Time square can't shine as bright as you I swear, it's true Hey there, Delilah Don't you worry about the distance I'm right there if you get lonely Give this song another listen Close your eyes Listen to my voice, it's my disguise I'm by your side Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me What you do to me Hey there, Delilah I know times are gettin' hard But just believe me, girl Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar We'll have it good We'll have the life we knew we would My word is good Hey there, Delilah I've got so much left to say If every simple song I wrote to you Would take your breath away I'd write it all Even more in love with me you'd fall We'd have it all Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me A thousand miles seems pretty far But they've got planes and trains and cars I'd walk to you if I had no other way Our friends would all make fun of us And we'll just laugh along because we know That none of them have felt this way Delilah, I can promise you That by the time we get through The world will never ever be the same And you're to blame Hey there, Delilah You be good, and don't you miss me Two more years and you'll be done with school And I'll be makin' history like I do You'll know it's all because of you We can do whatever we want to Hey there, Delilah, here's to you This ones for you Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me Oh, it's what you do to me What you do to me Oh, whoa, whoa Oh whoa, oh Oh, oh
This song reminds me a lot of the relationship between my mom and dad. They don't like to admit it, but this is like their song. It's a sweet, innocent little song. I love it just as much as they do.

This girl I like is moving to New York after highschool and each day is just ticking down to the point where we may not see eachother again. We both used to be together and I dreamed about her often but we both slowly fell apart and it’s hard to let her go. I never knew how painful love is when it’s all gone and how inevitable it is. Hey there, Delilah
What's it like in New York city?
I'm a thousand miles away
But, girl, tonight you look so pretty
Yes, you do
Time square can't shine as bright as you
I swear, it's true
Hey there, Delilah
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Give this song another listen
Close your eyes
Listen to my voice, it's my disguise
I'm by your side
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
What you do to me
Hey there, Delilah
I know times are gettin' hard
But just believe me, girl
Someday I'll pay the bills with this guitar
We'll have it good
We'll have the life we knew we would
My word is good
Hey there, Delilah
I've got so much left to say
If every simple song I wrote to you
Would take your breath away
I'd write it all
Even more in love with me you'd fall
We'd have it all
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me

But they've got planes and trains and cars
I'd walk to you if I had no other way
Our friends would all make fun of us
And we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
Delilah, I can promise you
That by the time we get through
The world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame
Hey there, Delilah
You be good, and don't you miss me
Two more years and you'll be done with school
And I'll be makin' history like I do
You'll know it's all because of you
We can do whatever we want to
