Kitty and Red Forman welcome a new generation of teenagers into their basement when their granddaughter Leia decides to spend her summer in Wisconsin.
The cameos from the old cast members was definitely the highlight of the show. I wished that they'd had more screen time. The audience cheering each time an old face appeared was fantastic.
Exactly!! The kids didn't have great chemistry and it felt like a Disney Channel show at times. Alot of the sayings and words they used was nothing like the 90s. They did try to push a "woke" agenda at times that made it cringe.
I thought the show did a great job of not making it to much about the old cast and trying to build up the new cast. I would still like to see them in the second season but I wouldn't say more, I'd like to see more of the new cast and hopefully a longer season two so things aren't as rushed
@teddy boy I think the new cast did great, it's just a sitcom thing it takes a little while to get the chemistry right, season 1 of 70s was the same way
@teddy boy agree to disagree
Lol “audience applauding”
What year is it?
Love that Donna doesn't 'discourage' sex, but more just wants her to be protected.
I could imagine Eric having an arm attack if he knew
She's like 14 I thought that was creepy AF
It's with another 14-year-old, and Donna's her mother. Surprise surprise, there were quite a lot of kids who were interested in that stuff at that age.@@kelleygreengrass
I hope the OG cast appears more in the next season. I understand not wanting to live the show off nostalgia but there’s so many things they could do with the OG cast interacting with the new one. Especially the connections like Kelsos kid dating Eric’s kid. Like come on Eric and Michael with Jackie and Donna arguing over it and how the feel about the whole situation. So much potential
Also if the show is gonna stick to 25min episode, they need at least around 15-20 episodes a season. Way too short of time with this many characters to have a story or some good character arcs.
That's what i was thinking too! Like a dinner with jay, leia and their parents where it's all a mess. I need to hear jackie say donna in the good old way again lmao
Definitely the right call to use them sparingly for the first season. Give the new cast a chance to shine on their own with some nostalgia highlights.
Agreed!!! That 90s show is a good premise with a cool cast, and is a victim of the new streaming standards of super short seasons. Not enough time for the new cast to develop chemistry, or to organically introduce their characters and connections... I still really enjoyed it and laughed out loud a few times, but netflix needs to treat this show with more respect and give it a real chance like the OG!
It's nice to see the old cast show up but I feel like it's the only thing holding up the show. I thought this was supposed to center more around Leia and her friends instead the audience is being pumped full of nostalgia.
@@Pikachu150 only the new cast didn't shine. Everything felt unnatural and forced.
Red: "There's only one girl in the world with Bob as her dad...."
I guess Donna's little sister really was retconned out of existence.
And her middle sister, who is referred to once and NEVER seen
And Laurie and Hyde
Like that one time on "Family Matters" when Judy went to her room and never came down again
@@batsignal3469 Red referred to Laurie twice albeit not by name; "I only wanted one (kid) but you convinced me about Eric" -Red talking to Kitty referring to Laurie as the firstborn. Obviously she can't make any appearances since the actress who played her passed away in 2013. That said, she wasn't a main character for long in the first place. For most of the show's run Laurie was only a recurring cast member who's entire character was built around her being a college party girl who was all over the place (fun fact: Leo actually appeared in more episodes than Laurie did). The family never really knew where she was or what she was doing except for when she came home. I reckon they'll probably write it in that she's moved off to different state or maybe even another country.
It would make sense plot-wise to write Laurie off of the show by saying she's in rehab or got hooked on drugs and they haven't heard from her in years as it fits the wild, impulsive & generally careless the persona they built for her character. Problem is they'd never do that, because it could be seen as disrespectful to how the actress herself *actually* died in rehab. There could also be some debate behind the scenes about how much they want to acknowledge her due to her having her own share of arrests and domestic abuse allegations back in the 90s. Even though her situation wasn't quite the same as the allegations against Hyde's actor, but you can be sure that there are people out there who would compare the two.
TLDR, they haven't written Laurie off as if she never existed but it's a tricky situation to work around without upsetting some people and I get why they've kept mentions of her to a minimum, at least for now. Sorry for the essay of a comment, I couldn't find a way to condense this all lol
@@popeye697 I think she's still up there.
I was sobbing the whole way through the Eric and Donna car scene.. the nostalgia is so real
None of the OG cast missed a beat its almost like they never left
Ashton you never fail in your acting...in the 70"s you rock and in the 90's...
01:09 Leo scene was the icing on the cake. Bring him back WITH A BIGGER PART to that 90s show. 02:01 After simmering for years, the FEZ-FENTON Rivalry is back in full force.
I want to see Casey Kelso appear. He'll be on a chain gang or something, but still talk like he's living the life
Hopefully he's had terrible karma and Is like a bus driver now or something
I can hear a little bit of Colt Bennett in Ashton Kutchers voice with kelso 🤣🤣
Donna "Is this the boy, is this your Sex Boy?!" Hahaha Lmao🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bob and red are looking good! I'm so glad nothing ever bad happened with them
"I've taken a luhver"
Cuts to Leo
There should have been a storyline for the older cast members like in that 70s show where it was split between the adults and teens
I might just be among the few who was most excited and happy about Fenton !!!!
More Fenton,please!
Ozzie’s boyfriends name is Étienne. French for Steven. I’m wondering if he’s going to end up being Hyde’s son. No Hyde because of the legal issues for Danny. (Putting it mildly). Hyde moved to Canada for whatever reason. Étienne is his son. One way to kinda include Hyde. Just a thought.
it doesn't feel the same as That 70's show, it feels like a Disney show with the new cast lol
Agreed :/ maybe if the season wasn't so short they could have actually developed the characters and their chemistry more organically. Cmon netflix...
That is exactly what it is. Cheesy teens failing at acting. This show is completely for Gen Z.
But that's kind of the idea I suppose since is not That 70's Show anymore
It isnt the same show. We all know it n who said it's same show? U? So you can argue with urself? Fuller house n girl meets world is same thing. Its the next generation . Not the same shows but similar. Never heard any of these said to be same show except when u said they aren't for no reason.
Batman n Superman are different shows to. Lmao
@@whitehazegruntz250 It's basically Hollywood being lazy. Instead of making new things for today, they take things that were successful. But they ruin them by changing them in hopes of appealing to generation cry baby.
Seeing these guys again is a real blast from the past
Donna looks much hotter as a red head here
@Nuke Sony kitty has had quite a bit of work done
@Nuke Sony drugs and alcohol are kryptonite to a white woman.
Fez has the best cameo
The way Donna almost roars "Leia!" at 2:26 always cracks me up.
DAMN JACKIE!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I found it hilarious that this was going to be their 2nd marriage lmao
“Damn Jackie I can’t control the weather!” 😂❤😅
man this was so good can't wait for season 2 or for that 70s show to be back on netflix
Why did I start crying when the old pothead popped up 😭😭😭😭😭
It’s crazy how they hold up. Like… it feels so much like them still, they never lost the charm
Said this in another comment, but the chemistry of the old cast just can't be matched. This new group becomes more likable a couple of episodes in, but the humour for me is sorely lacking. Any time the old cast was involved though it was magic. Eric and Donna make episode 1 the best of the series. I really wished they included Eric more, and kept the new gang, but just focused on them a little less. I like the idea of Leia getting herself into trouble, and learning with her new friends. But including her parents for the ride would have been perfect. That way you get amazing Leia and Eric moments, Red and Eric moments etc. So much humour and heart with those four. Not to mention Donna and Kitty.
Oh my goodness I missed Bob, Fez, Fenton, and especially Leo.
If this show was just the old cast in the 90s it would be worth watching
Or imagine this, a completely new cast and a completely new look that actually feels like a time machine back to the 1990s instead of still looking like it's the 70s, just because that's how the original show looked.
@@UnchainedEruptionit was not nearly 90s enough imo
RIP Tanya Roberts. First knockers I have seen on film on Beta Video (before VHS tapes) on '84 film Sheena.
I find it beautiful how Debra Jo Rupp seems moved to see the original cast again and act with them once more.
01:12 and when Ashton Kutcher appears is so visibly
I just realized that Fenton is played by the Dean from Community.
Technically Dean is played by Fenton from that 70s show.
@@jessewest2894 fair enough Fenton was first I suppose
The original cast is the ones they will have to save the show as it's turned out it looks like blossom meets Will & Grace
Kelso hasn’t changed at all he’s still the same lol
The show ain't going to make it without regular appearances by the old cast. They're never going to recapture the Magic.
Loved it, I’m watching it again
I thought the first season was great!, Please make season two more episodes though so we can see more character development
Michael Kelso: *BURN* 😂
I only liked seeing the older heads . The rest was too kiddish for me . The new crew is a no
THEY EVEN BOUGHT BACK FENTONS FUNNY ASS?!😂😂😂 i gotta watch but man he didnt age one bit jesus
Best shows 😫😫
Donna looks like Olivia Dunham from Fringe now lol
How could they not bring the Eric and Kelso together 😢
I wish they would introduce Michael's first born child, Betsy kelso.
They should’ve had the old cast.
The granddaughter is fine and Jay is alright, but it’d be way better if it was focused on the adults living in the 90s
As if he’d spend any time over there considering the “I’ve got so much shit going on” vibe his character gives off. He’d always be busy
Fez is so jacked now

They said that Ashton and Mila aren’t coming back
LETS GO MICHAEL
Most of the characters from the original show came back except one…Steven Hyde
Only ONE girl with Bob as her dad? Um, what about Tina Pinciotti?
*When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was going to be a "woke" fest, but after watching it it was OK. I give it a 6/10. Obviously the best parts are when the old cast had screen time, they carried the show, but the kids didn't have much chemistry, some jokes where forced and the Asian kid was cringe. They had a lot of moment where they had liberal sayings and words that where never used in the 90s. I hope season 2 has more of the old cast in it. The kid who played Kelsos son did a great job portraying his mom and dad's personalities and Eric's kid did a great job doing that as well*
It was actually a hell of a lot better than I was expecting it to be. I expected a trainwreck. I unironically started to like the new cast by the end of the season, theres a lot of potential here, that 70s show suffered the same issues its first season, especially in terms of cast finding their footing as characters but by the end of 2 seasons the 70s cast felt like family, and dialogue between actors got a lot less awkward. I bet you that 90s show is on that same trajectory if it its renewed. I mean its already very tough shoes to fill, the OG cast was so good back then, it basically started all of their careers paved with success. So yeah I think the cast is giving it their all, but without a doubt not enough time to flesh any of the characters much in season 1
The audience cheer every single time an old cast member appears even after they alr made in appearance earlier in the season or even episode was kind of annoying
Mila Kunis still looks 15

I enjoyed season 1. Pretty funny to me.
did they even say what happened to hyde's character?
No they never mention him, and don't even want to say how Leo met the gang since he met them through Hyde
I miss the 70 show
Damn Jackie!
I barely cracked a smile.
Just eric and Hyde now
Excited...watching the70s casts here again..not excited with the new 90s casts. The chemistry is not there n it dont have 90s vibes. Hope forward to see the 70s cast more
Should’ve made their home more 90s instead of the same look
Lisa you miss also Tanya
Where’s Hyde? In jail?
I'm a 90s teen and those kids don't seem 90s to me.
Dammit Danny why’d you have to ruin another cameo
Can some please explain to me how Eric has job as a college professor teaching fucking star wars !?
Well I had an English class as college that focused on science fiction literature. Part of the course was reading the book Blade Runner, so it a large enough college i could see that as an English class.
There was (probably still is) a fad of like, prominent universities having classes like that, Star Wars and Harry Potter for example. Specifically, after I did a bit of research, The university of Chicago, where Eric probably teaches, is one of these schools with the Star Wars class
he probably is teaching an English class with a focus on fantasy an world building, and uses Star Wars as its chief example. Or might be teaching a class that looks at pop culture and media.
Hyde ain't coming back for... Reasons.
Fez is Zohan jr
LEOOOOO ❤❤❤❤❤
you would expect donna to get hot. but its the opposite.
probably she got her surgery and it went wrong ???!?!?
She still looks hot, what are you on about?
Erik looks the same Fez but Donna. yeah...nope.
@@venomshake8187 her face
No but its weird cause when you look at Laura’s Instagram she looks just like Donna just older ofc, but there’s just something wrong in this show?? Maybe she has way too much makeup on, because Donna never really had that much makeup on in t70s
Still they don't have hyde on the scene.
They arent going to
ahhh dammit...going to watch tv again ...
The irony is that Mila and Ashton's return is pretty much the only reason why fans of the original tuned in. It was promoted as a "Jackie and Kelso return." Odds are they'll never be in the show again, so the only thing worth tuning in for would be their son Jay. The new cast are terrible, and Fez doesn't work without the old gang.
fck them lol, only here for FEZ!
The only good thing about that 90s show was the cast of that 70s show showing up. The teens in that 90s show are just horrible. Basically Gen z trash with hopes of getting older generations to watch because of nostalgia.
Man... It's a shame that Hyde isn't there.
The older actors in this series are great as they were in that 70 show but this younger generation are overacting and just not at all believable in their roles there is something horribly off about this new generation of actors in this show that just don't seem believable in anything they are saying or doing.
Problem is that every kid TV actor is basically trained to treat every sitcom like it's a Disney Channel show. What makes it worse is that writers received the same training and have no idea how to accurately write teenagers like the old show did.
@@kevinbell5674 I totally agree if something doesn't change cinema is doomed.
I won’t ever watch these bad reboots of old shows. Why are Jackie and Michael together when she ended up with fez at the end of that 70s show?
They broke up because of Kelso
She left poor fez to go back with her ex that cheated on her like over 79 times Jackie now ain’t shit to me 😂
Where is hyde
Jail.
It won't last!
Is it me , that the constant laughing after every sentence gets really annoying

A summary of all the comments. OG cast great. New cast unnatural and forced.
I wonder where Hyde is🤨hmmmm
Eric’s there too! I really hope Hyde shows up in the next season
Nevermind Danny Masterson will most likely not be in the show due to legal reasons. So sad when Celebrities fuck up their lives and lose opportunities.
@@kristynkeezer1552 I hope they at the very least address where Hyde is and also address the death of Tanya Roberts who played Midge
@@TheAutisticBrony I never liked Hyde anyway. Tanya Roberts was a beautiful woman and actually died of a UTI that turned into sepsis. I didn't realize that was more common than a lot of people think it is.

Hate so much that this stupid reboot exists. It’s such a cash grab. And I am here for sad reboots… this one’s just badly done.

So Jay is 15 in 1995 which means he was born in 1980. But in 1980 Jacky wasn't with Kelso. She was with Fez. Can it be that Jay is Fez's son and Kelso is just too dumb to figure it out??
