I did do a factory reset on my phone within a minute of that happening, but if the virus is smart enough it would have overwritten the permanent data so that it gets back in after reset.

Yep, Norton is garbage and a waste of money. I used it because I know my ex has a key logger. Norton didn't find anything but it kept giving me pop ups and up sells. It didn't find anything in the scans I paid for but kept showing other potential breaches that I would have to pay for. Terrible

you need to enable storage scan in settings tab of norton mobile security then it will scan for downloaded files
