Wonderful and moving. In her hands, the violin is pure poetry pouring from the soul - poetry that sings and reverberates... Yes, there is a power somewhere 'up there' that is hard to comprehend but that can be deeply felt in one's interior.

Some conductor are just impossible. They're nitpicking something and they don't know what it is themselves. And when it is played perfectly they somehow have a problem. It's bizzare. I love how Ida handles it like a pro. Obviously she has seem it a million times in her lifetime. SHE'S MY IDOL!

    • @fredelin2580
      @fredelin2580 3 роки тому +1

Ashkenazy was certainly not being 'impossible' ! It seems clear here that she has worked numerous with him, that they have a great rapport, and she knows how he is. (Have you watched the whole video??). He was just nervous, was actually unhappy with himself. It may have come out wrong but that is what the situation was. Simple.

People are making a big deal of the interaction between Ashkenazy and Ida...I see it more as two artists with big egos and histories having a a clash of wills and a bit of drama with the cameras around. She is pure charm and grit and he is the hot tempered conductor who can't really get what she is doing. It's good drama but they obviously admire each other.

The Sibelius is a real challenge to conduct !!! Precise gesture to control the orchestra to ensure rhythmical accuracy, be musical and FOLLOW the soloist. I suspect that Ashkenazy was frustrated at himself... Since Ida Haendel was graciously complimented in a letter by none other than Sibelius himself, we can say that she knows that concerto... For sure, she has always been my reference for this splendid work.
