To me, this is a story of guilt and how people deal with it. Ben and Archie lost their friend, even though they tried to help him. The thing that was following them was the guilt in physical form. Never hurting them, but always haunting them. Archie wanted to save face, not let the guilt change him. Ben, no matter how much it hurt, accepted that change. When it came time to answer that question of the storm, Archie didn’t have an answer, but Ben did. In the face of that storm of guilt, Archie would freeze, lash out or act like that storm was below him. But Ben? Ben would dance.
I mean this as genuinely as I can; I think "I'd Dance", is one of the most beautiful moments of character writing I have witnessed. In general this whole series, paired with Zeemyth's video, is so fantastic. The reveal of the Zeemyth video being narrated by Archie adds so much context to the series, and wraps the themes of it so magnificently. For all of Archie's philosophizing, he is ultimately powerless in the face of such a simple question. As we see in changes and Zeemyth's video, Archie considers himself a person who makes changes, while Ben is made by change. Archie sees himself as in control, that when given new life, and the ability to change, nothing would shift. It makes the question Ben poses so simple and so effective. They are already long caught in a storm, with no wood or shelter, in an empty field. Archie has no answer, resorting to insulting Ben, and even after so long can't find any conclusion. When Archie is deprived of control, as is so often the case, he freezes, or lashes out. For all of Ben's faults, for the supposed moral high-ground Archie has over Ben as someone who makes changes as opposed to being made by them, Ben has an answer for his dilemma; When faced with a situation so unjustifiably cruel and bizarre, devoid of control or understanding, Ben would dance. Peak fiction.
Of course, this truly is the meaning. … but not in any way something you should “take away” from this. This isn’t a “lesson” In most every situation theres something you can do, only select few scenarios that are very rare are you left helpless and hopeless. This pedestal put under ben for accepting defeat as opposed to an attempt of escape done by archie shouldn’t be a thing. Attempts at escape shouldn’t be shamed or less than acceptance, and it almost makes me think that it’s based off of the writer’s antagonistic thoughts about their real life equivalent of archie
I think Ell succumbed to "the storm" (ie committed suicide) and all this is the result of Ben and Arch's guilt and how they're trying to cope with it all using the game they loved to play together. Ell never moved that was just something they told themselves for their own comfort.

personally, i think the labyrinth beneath ell’s house is supposed to represent things behind closed doors. she might’ve been abused at home, which could be why they can’t speak down there and half to walk on one side. i think that drove her to suicide, or she died because of her parents abuse. her sudden disappearance paired with the last thing ben did was break those rules, lead him to his own labyrinth (or to spiral). archie also breaking those rules and being combative with ben caused bens death. now, archie has his own raven (grief) and soon will have his own labyrinth. 10/10 minecraft arg, which is hard to do. nice job!
everyone trying to piece this together like some big puzzle is missing the raw emotion of it, it's a tragedy twice over, a story of so many feelings yet none clear enough to prove, it could be telling of a broken home, suicide, death, loneliness, isolation, grief, and it does so so timidly and respectfully
You don’t understand. It’s supposed to put you in the shoes of the characters, and they want to know what happened, and those who are trying to piece it together want to know what happened too. It’s the point of that aspect of the series. It’s the point of there being more to come soon. That’s why the series doesn’t end here.
I personally find this arg one of the most well written Minecraft args. The story, the characters, and man, the ending sent me shivers down my spine, it's not a really scary arg but it makes you feel so tied with it. It litterly makes you feel some sort of mental horror.
Honestly the most slept on ARG/Analog(?) series I've seen in a while, this is REALLY good, saw most of it through Zeemyth but the actual videos are really cool to experience, seeing the context he gave it definitely gives a pretty interesting new light on things.
Additionally, in the video where Ell and Ben explore the tunnels, Ell makes it very clear that you should never go left. Ben entirely contradicts this in telling Archie to always go left.
I swear Minecraft can just capture and recreate any type of vibe if you put the time into it, it’s a flexible ass creator tool to this day much akin to Halo in the machinima industry. Great job dude this brought back classic 2009 UA-cam vibes to me that’s rare these days
I love psychological horrors, especially in Minecraft or VHS because it adds a LOT to it. This is better than the back rooms which is saying a lot from me. I think this might be the best I’ve ever seen. Incredibly good job, 19/10, #1, and thank you for making this.
I highly recommend you to watch Zeemyth's previous project that's still ongoing, Bedrock zip, it's the same psychological minecraft horror that presents a confusing story full of twists and secret meanings.
somthing about this is depressing. Some emotion some feeling i couldn't describe. Somthing that feels almost like some sort of revenge. Knowing that it wont get better at all because of the thought that there is nothing else left, there's no other choice but to just end it all. and just say "is this what you wanted?"

his idle animation was paused. remember, archie somehow joined a singleplayer world. him being paused along with the game actually means he's not even a real player in the first place. the raven might be fabricating all those appearances to fool ben into it's trap, an obtrusive nest where it shall claim it's victim
This can make a man cry it almost made me cry and how the story is so cryptic and well made it needs an actual thinking and piecing everything brick by brick for you to understand on whats happening with the lives of this people. In short i love everything about it and im so lucky to finding Zeemyth's video about it and its just magnificent. And i would dance too.
ben watched ell get deeper into depression: the tunnels. he felt guilty: why it's shown in minecraft. the raven is acceptance: ben can't face accepting her death. ben's guilt is catching up to him building up as it's time to accept: this all starts by him running from accepting her death. archie gets into his guilt and try's to get him away from it: he joins the world. ben finds himself in the same depressed state as ell: the tunnels. ben repeated ell's process: guilt leading to you know what. archie repeated ben's process: getting to them to late and watching the end.
this whole series left me staring at a wall for ten minutes in disbelief and a trance of thought.. no piece of media, let alone horror, has done that in a while. this is so incredible
This entire sequence of videos is so fascinating to me. It's a type of horror that extends much deeper than your average goofy spook. This isn't that at all. This is a series that uses the unsettling nature of alpha Minecraft, the fear of an unseen threat, and the vague and yet incredibly simple intentions of the characters involved to its advantage. This isn't frightening because some monster jumpscared me. This is frightening because the monster may not even exist, and it may extend past the code of the game to real relationships and mysteries. I also love how minecraft is used as a medium to tell a larger overarching narrative about something beyond the game. I like how the game is used as a way of manifesting this characters guilt. It's philosophical, it's liminal, it's weirdly empty but full of mysteries and emotions. This is why this is my favorite genre of horror, (and I don't even know what the genre is called) because it actually makes you think, and it actually makes you feel, and it's actually scary, because the topics explored stretch much farther than your typical scare. It reminds me of the fear of death. Being afraid of something that you don't see, touch, smell, or hear, but you know it's there, and you know it's waiting. It's like fear and regret themselves have come to haunt you personally. To this creator, well done. You have created the first and probably last minecraft horror series to ever scare me. To anyone who hasn't watched all of this, please go watch it yourself and unpack the mystery. You will not be disappointed.
okay so zeemyth just changed the thumbnail for found footage of a player being followed at 12:18 it looks like that thumbnail i think this kind of storm killed ell after some sort of argument with ben because of the random house but i cant really make any more sense to much with this without me crosses parts of the story
also in tje video with the random house (which is just a random video from 16 years ago with sound effects and video effects) when the video loops at the stairs you can hear someone say "storm" im pretty sure

ell obviously died, either by sepuku or just another way, but theyre dead. and ben at the end disappears just like ell, and leaves archie all alone. hes dancing his way out, hes enjoying leaving the storm, hes glad its ending, where archie doesnt know what to do anymore. hes lost in thought, and hes lost his sense of tempo, he cant dance with ben, he doesnt know how, he cant follow the beat and hes confused, and bens too tired to help him. hes stuck there forever, unless he changes, unless the changes change him
ell said never to go left, but the one time they did they were gona, but ben said only to go left, he was guiding archie. he needs to turn left to the exit, dance his way out and leave it all behind. but archie cant, not yet. and now its his turn to be friends with the crow.
A very good series indeed. Captivating. The use of a newer version of Minecraft with the older textures and sounds was given away early, but this nonexistent version of Minecraft adds to the mystique. Gotta follow the rules when visiting foreign places.
that's an amazing liminal space, i would love to have the world as that's like... it gives such an interesting atmosphere nothing else i've ever seen possibly could.
The anomalous maze being exposed as a seemingly endless labyrinth of almost nonsensical design that stands in every direction and perspective gives it such a grandiose feeling, even though it’s only made of stone and (I think) early or scrapped textures for a block.
My theory on what this story is is it’s about loss. In the past, Ben and Ell were friends, but somehow in someway, Ell made a big mistake and they either dissapeared or died. Ben attempted to help them but he couldn’t help due to Ell not listening to the rules. In the present, Ben is haunted by this mistake that cost Ell’s existence, and I feel like “The Raven” is representing of Ben’s hopeless search for Ell. He keeps searching and searching for Ell in a way to cope, but he never finds them. Another important thing to note is the raven seems to mimic a player. It’s ability to search, break blocks and build (if the theory that they built the 7 stone squares is correct), and it is constantly searching for Ben, just like Ben is. In the end, Ben and Archie both dealt with trauma from losing Ell, but one grew and changed while the other suffered and couldn’t recover. I feel like the ending represents Ben either disappearing and meeting the same fate as Ell, or killing themself, unable to cope with the loss

I still think this short analog horror story is a cinematic masterpiece. I truly felt it. I think the motive behind the story writting isnt guilt suicide or anything along those lines. I think its change, as ArchieT said.
Now, take this as an grain of salt but i think i sort of understand what the colours at the end could means Ben after disappearing left an orange light, orange usually associate with "Happiness", completely opposite with Ben. But at the same time, it also mean immature, like how he couldn't understand if something that is wrong with Ell until it was too late. But in the video "Changes", the sunset shown an orange light, that is when Ben changed. Ben leaving could also mean that he found his answer, his answer being "I'd dance" meaning that he choose to accept it, rather than running away, Ben leaving the minecraft world that possibly formed from their guilt could lead to the color orange having another new meaning, "Strength". Archie, at the end continue to walk in darkness path surrounded by the color blue. Here, blue could means "Sadness", Archie weren't there with Ben and Ell during that video, this could possibly mean that he weren't there when Ell needed supports most. Ben alone cannot help Ell, that is a total opposite of blue's other meaning "Loyal". But at the same time it also mean "Honest" which was what Zeemyth or as we know him as Archie said to Ben, Archie's words to Ben's question is what helped him find his answer while Archie still haven't got his. Ben had left, but Archie continued to stay, both of their path are different, the path where Ben was last seen has ended, while Archie's path still continue, the video cut off but we can see that Archie continue to go on, with the note Ben left with "What would you do?" written on it, before the video cut off with him walking forward with the orange light at the end. This time i believe it represents "Reflection" since Archie looked back before continuing to find his own answer, just like Ben did.
I think that Elle was also haunted by “the entity” and it has been a loop over and over time after time, with no end. the entity taking its next victim, Elle, the 5th victim. The corridors, home to the entity, 7, the amount of victims until it takes over, and I. The victims were simply never there. But only a mere fraction of who they were, being haunted by the memories of their old friends that were taken by the entity and were now the entities puppet getting rid of any paper trail before they were taken, to make their friend look insane when it happens to them. the farlands is the entrance to the entity’s home, and the church was made by the previous victims. And the cubes, the cells for the victims, trapped in their own minds. Slamming the door, begging for help. People say that the entity is still taking his victims and he only needs one more. If you have a friend acting weird, stay away. This has been my favourite creepy series yet, the lore, the hints, the secrets, everything is perfect.
Heading left is accepting the out come. Of what happened in the past never forgeting bet not running from things you have done behind you just accepting and looking forward. The part were he broke the ground is were he made his own path and never turned back

if he sees this do not fear it do not let it do anything break what it makes do not hide put stuff around the base it will be easier to hear it break things block off the entrance when it's near but do not block any light or looking source it will vanish if you deside to do it something i have learned about the thing is it toys with you and stalks you before going in for the kill and when you see it treat it like it's a bear never look away in less it moves then the only thing to do is run and pray it will be the only thing that can save you and never forget to get recourses before night im talking beds crafting tables and shovels axes and pickaxes

this place seem like a labyrinth from the creation of guilt and past. the world seem to stagnate and haunting, you cannot see far because of the fog. you always have to run away from something, something that you cannot comprehend. Ben is familiar with it because he is trying to confront it, trying to understand. Arch haven't made much effort and when he look into the world, he called it "empty". That day that Ell disappeared, is an event that both of them can't understand. They can't accept that someone could disappeared so quickly and silently from their life. They started to think that they themselves are the problem, "we couldn't save them". I couldn't entirely understand the "rules" and why they keep breaking them. But breaking the rules do change something about them, That day Ben break the rules and Ell is gone. Arch break the rule and Ben is now the one to disappear. Has both Ell and Ben finally moved on? Before Ben is gone, he said to "get out". Does that mean get out as getting the hell out of this mazes of stones or finally move on and get out of this world for good? What does "Im sorry" mean? does Ben's family has to move out too? WHY IS THE LIGHTS CHANGED?! The more i try to understand the more insane it get, rather than try to comprehend it... i'd dance.

The tunnels are from the far lands the Raven is from the glitch Farland stronghold that mange to escape into reality. To me, this is a story of guilt and how people deal with it. Ben and Archie lost their friend, even though they tried to help him. The thing that was following them was the guilt in physical form. Never hurting them, but always haunting them. Archie wanted to save face, not let the guilt change him. Ben, no matter how much it hurt, accepted that change. When it came time to answer that question of the storm, Archie didn’t have an answer, but Ben did. In the face of that storm of guilt, Archie would freeze, lash out or act like that storm was below him. But Ben? Ben would dance.

I mean this as genuinely as I can; I think "I'd Dance", is one of the most beautiful moments of character writing I have witnessed. In general this whole series, paired with Zeemyth's video, is so fantastic. The reveal of the Zeemyth video being narrated by Archie adds so much context to the series, and wraps the themes of it so magnificently.
For all of Archie's philosophizing, he is ultimately powerless in the face of such a simple question. As we see in changes and Zeemyth's video, Archie considers himself a person who makes changes, while Ben is made by change. Archie sees himself as in control, that when given new life, and the ability to change, nothing would shift. It makes the question Ben poses so simple and so effective. They are already long caught in a storm, with no wood or shelter, in an empty field.
Archie has no answer, resorting to insulting Ben, and even after so long can't find any conclusion. When Archie is deprived of control, as is so often the case, he freezes, or lashes out. For all of Ben's faults, for the supposed moral high-ground Archie has over Ben as someone who makes changes as opposed to being made by them, Ben has an answer for his dilemma;
When faced with a situation so unjustifiably cruel and bizarre, devoid of control or understanding, Ben would dance.

I think Ell succumbed to "the storm" (ie committed suicide) and all this is the result of Ben and Arch's guilt and how they're trying to cope with it all using the game they loved to play together. Ell never moved that was just something they told themselves for their own comfort.

personally, i think the labyrinth beneath ell’s house is supposed to represent things behind closed doors. she might’ve been abused at home, which could be why they can’t speak down there and half to walk on one side. i think that drove her to suicide, or she died because of her parents abuse. her sudden disappearance paired with the last thing ben did was break those rules, lead him to his own labyrinth (or to spiral). archie also breaking those rules and being combative with ben caused bens death. now, archie has his own raven (grief) and soon will have his own labyrinth.

You don’t understand. It’s supposed to put you in the shoes of the characters, and they want to know what happened, and those who are trying to piece it together want to know what happened too. It’s the point of that aspect of the series. It’s the point of there being more to come soon. That’s why the series doesn’t end here.
I personally find this arg one of the most well written Minecraft args. The story, the characters, and man, the ending sent me shivers down my spine, it's not a really scary arg but it makes you feel so tied with it. It litterly makes you feel some sort of mental horror.

Additionally, in the video where Ell and Ben explore the tunnels, Ell makes it very clear that you should never go left. Ben entirely contradicts this in telling Archie to always go left.

this whole series left me staring at a wall for ten minutes in disbelief and a trance of thought.. no piece of media, let alone horror, has done that in a while. this is so incredible

This entire sequence of videos is so fascinating to me. It's a type of horror that extends much deeper than your average goofy spook. This isn't that at all. This is a series that uses the unsettling nature of alpha Minecraft, the fear of an unseen threat, and the vague and yet incredibly simple intentions of the characters involved to its advantage. This isn't frightening because some monster jumpscared me. This is frightening because the monster may not even exist, and it may extend past the code of the game to real relationships and mysteries. I also love how minecraft is used as a medium to tell a larger overarching narrative about something beyond the game. I like how the game is used as a way of manifesting this characters guilt. It's philosophical, it's liminal, it's weirdly empty but full of mysteries and emotions. This is why this is my favorite genre of horror, (and I don't even know what the genre is called) because it actually makes you think, and it actually makes you feel, and it's actually scary, because the topics explored stretch much farther than your typical scare. It reminds me of the fear of death. Being afraid of something that you don't see, touch, smell, or hear, but you know it's there, and you know it's waiting. It's like fear and regret themselves have come to haunt you personally. To this creator, well done. You have created the first and probably last minecraft horror series to ever scare me.
To anyone who hasn't watched all of this, please go watch it yourself and unpack the mystery. You will not be disappointed.

i think the storm is probably symbolical instead of being the literal cause of death for Ell
ell obviously died, either by sepuku or just another way, but theyre dead. and ben at the end disappears just like ell, and leaves archie all alone. hes dancing his way out, hes enjoying leaving the storm, hes glad its ending, where archie doesnt know what to do anymore. hes lost in thought, and hes lost his sense of tempo, he cant dance with ben, he doesnt know how, he cant follow the beat and hes confused, and bens too tired to help him. hes stuck there forever, unless he changes, unless the changes change him

A very good series indeed. Captivating. The use of a newer version of Minecraft with the older textures and sounds was given away early, but this nonexistent version of Minecraft adds to the mystique. Gotta follow the rules when visiting foreign places.

My theory on what this story is is it’s about loss. In the past, Ben and Ell were friends, but somehow in someway, Ell made a big mistake and they either dissapeared or died. Ben attempted to help them but he couldn’t help due to Ell not listening to the rules.
In the present, Ben is haunted by this mistake that cost Ell’s existence, and I feel like “The Raven” is representing of Ben’s hopeless search for Ell. He keeps searching and searching for Ell in a way to cope, but he never finds them.
Another important thing to note is the raven seems to mimic a player. It’s ability to search, break blocks and build (if the theory that they built the 7 stone squares is correct), and it is constantly searching for Ben, just like Ben is.
In the end, Ben and Archie both dealt with trauma from losing Ell, but one grew and changed while the other suffered and couldn’t recover.
I feel like the ending represents Ben either disappearing and meeting the same fate as Ell, or killing themself, unable to cope with the loss

I still think this short analog horror story is a cinematic masterpiece. I truly felt it. I think the motive behind the story writting isnt guilt suicide or anything along those lines. I think its change, as ArchieT said.

Now, take this as an grain of salt but i think i sort of understand what the colours at the end could means
Ben after disappearing left an orange light, orange usually associate with "Happiness", completely opposite with Ben. But at the same time, it also mean immature, like how he couldn't understand if something that is wrong with Ell until it was too late. But in the video "Changes", the sunset shown an orange light, that is when Ben changed. Ben leaving could also mean that he found his answer, his answer being "I'd dance" meaning that he choose to accept it, rather than running away, Ben leaving the minecraft world that possibly formed from their guilt could lead to the color orange having another new meaning, "Strength".
Archie, at the end continue to walk in darkness path surrounded by the color blue. Here, blue could means "Sadness", Archie weren't there with Ben and Ell during that video, this could possibly mean that he weren't there when Ell needed supports most. Ben alone cannot help Ell, that is a total opposite of blue's other meaning "Loyal". But at the same time it also mean "Honest" which was what Zeemyth or as we know him as Archie said to Ben, Archie's words to Ben's question is what helped him find his answer while Archie still haven't got his. Ben had left, but Archie continued to stay, both of their path are different, the path where Ben was last seen has ended, while Archie's path still continue, the video cut off but we can see that Archie continue to go on, with the note Ben left with "What would you do?" written on it, before the video cut off with him walking forward with the orange light at the end. This time i believe it represents "Reflection" since Archie looked back before continuing to find his own answer, just like Ben did.

I think that Elle was also haunted by “the entity” and it has been a loop over and over time after time, with no end. the entity taking its next victim, Elle, the 5th victim. The corridors, home to the entity, 7, the amount of victims until it takes over, and I.
The victims were simply never there. But only a mere fraction of who they were, being haunted by the memories of their old friends that were taken by the entity and were now the entities puppet getting rid of any paper trail before they were taken, to make their friend look insane when it happens to them.
the farlands is the entrance to the entity’s home, and the church was made by the previous victims. And the cubes, the cells for the victims, trapped in their own minds. Slamming the door, begging for help.
People say that the entity is still taking his victims and he only needs one more. If you have a friend acting weird, stay away.
This has been my favourite creepy series yet, the lore, the hints, the secrets, everything is perfect.

i saw a comment on a analysis vid of this story, and it talked about how this story represents guilt and regret after ell committed suicide, with the raven being that guilt and regret following ben until he eventually was driven to killing himself, the original paragraph was a lot bigger. the youtuber is Zeemyth and the analysis video is titled “Found footage of a player being followed” if you want to find the comment for yourself, i think it makes a lot of sense considering the random rant archie when on about his philosophy about death, and why ben always said sorry. he blamed himself for ells death and not saving them

can someone tell me what the corridors mean? always go left or right and in the end we can hear a block break and the light turns from blue to orange and we can see a cobblestone block in the wall?
if he sees this do not fear it do not let it do anything break what it makes do not hide put stuff around the base it will be easier to hear it break things block off the entrance when it's near but do not block any light or looking source it will vanish if you deside to do it something i have learned about the thing is it toys with you and stalks you before going in for the kill and when you see it treat it like it's a bear never look away in less it moves then the only thing to do is run and pray it will be the only thing that can save you and never forget to get recourses before night im talking beds crafting tables and shovels axes and pickaxes

this place seem like a labyrinth from the creation of guilt and past.
the world seem to stagnate and haunting, you cannot see far because of the fog. you always have to run away from something, something that you cannot comprehend.
Ben is familiar with it because he is trying to confront it, trying to understand.
Arch haven't made much effort and when he look into the world, he called it "empty".
That day that Ell disappeared, is an event that both of them can't understand. They can't accept that someone could disappeared so quickly and silently from their life. They started to think that they themselves are the problem, "we couldn't save them".
I couldn't entirely understand the "rules" and why they keep breaking them. But breaking the rules do change something about them, That day Ben break the rules and Ell is gone. Arch break the rule and Ben is now the one to disappear.
Has both Ell and Ben finally moved on? Before Ben is gone, he said to "get out". Does that mean get out as getting the hell out of this mazes of stones or finally move on and get out of this world for good?
