    Old Mother Hubbard,
    my cupboard is bare.
    My last few checks
    are bouncing everywhere.
    No scraps for the cat,
    no bone for the dog
and I'm losing all my friends,
    because my phone's cut off.
    The bailiff keeps knockin'
    on my front door.
    He's taken everything,
    but he still wants more.
I gave all I can take.
    It's a world against me!
    So how do I make
    a bankrobbery?
    Ba-Ba-Bankrobbery...
No money for nothing for Woofy and me.
    Ba-Ba-Bankrobbery...
No money for nothing for Woofy and me.
    Black thick stockings
    and I can't see a sausage.
    To the bank with the
    water pistol in my pocket.
    And the water leaks out.
    I'm wet and soggy.
    Knees are knocking
and it's hot in the stocking.
    I say: „Hands up please,
    everybody just freeze!
    All hit the deck
with the hands behind the neck!“,
And then the granny turns around
    and says: „Sunny Jim,
you'd see there was a queue,
    if you'd removed that thing!“
    Ba-Ba-Bankrobbery ...
No money for nothing for Woofy and me.
    After hours of waiting,
I was standing at the desk.
    When the kids said: „Mommy,
    that black has wet himself!“.
    I said: „Look out there,
    there's a camera watching me!
    I'm a little bit nervous,
it's my first time on TV.“
    I said: „I'm nasty and I'm vicious,
and my hands on the trigger.
It's your money or your life.“
But she didn't lift the finger.
    The cashier said: „Sonny,
    stop messing around!“,
    I said: „OK, sorry,
I'd like to open an account.“
    Ba-Ba-Bankrobbery ...
No money for nothing for Woofy and me.
Das Böse ist immer und überall.

A few years ago I asked a very nice German lady (Frau Mary Dolny) what EAV means in English, and it's First General Bewilderment (Erste Allgemeine Verunsicherung). I wish there were other English versions of their songs, as I only understand some German

I always wondered if some songs like this for example ever made their way over to the uk?

Well, back in those days there was a famous insurance company called »First General Insurance«. The band added two letters to the german word »insurance« and suddenly it became the »First General Unsecuration« or »First General Insecurity« or maybe the »First general Uninsurance« - hard to translate.
Anyway, the insurance company was horrified and sued the still relatively unknown band for »likelyhood of confusion« - in vain. The years went by and the band was by now very successful with teenagers and young adults. So successful, in fact, that the insurance company saw the opportunity for advertising value and decided to insure their live concerts. ;D Ha!

Its a pun on the German word for insurance, "Versicherung". "Versicherung" = Insurance, "Verunsicherung" = uncertainty, disconcertion (maybe also Bewilderment, not sure about that)

    • @Aloha808

@@arnoldhau1 the name probably has more than one meaning, and only people who speak German fluently, can understand it. Still, EAV music is great, whether I understand the German lyrics or not :-)
