    Great video which points out the main flaw oft he Steambow M10 System: the loose locking pin! Ridiculous that there was no better solution on hand. While I was shooting the first rounds with the M10 the pin went out and all the bolts fell out on the floor. I couldn’t believe it. This was never mentioned in all of the reviews I’d seen before.

    The old six shot stinger is proven, the new m10 is not. Just like the revo7 and interceptor will be. With further upgrades they will work better, as usual. But think about how much you will invest till all is perfect. Mey, revo7, m10 out the box cost arround five hundret, with the upgrades you can count they will cost more (plus extra bow, magazines etc.). And before you pay 800euro for the new systems, think to spend just 250euro for the six shot stinger what is already working.

    • @Dutch_Defense_and_Survival
      @Dutch_Defense_and_Survival  26 днів тому +4

      That’s very solid advice! Which makes the whole thing even weirder, in my opinion. The nerve Steambow has to ask 250 euros for the M10 upper plus one extra magazine is wild. For around the same price, as you said, you can get the AR-6.

    Thank. You for sharing this with us I was about to buy this and after watching your video I most definitely will not be buying this bow it's just not worth all the money they are asking for something that is not fit for market with the flaws you just saved me money and headache 💯👌

      Thank you for the feedback! You're very welcome. You're absolutely right-the price-to-quality ratio just isn't there. It's a shame, especially since they did such a good job with the original AR-6. Highly disappointing!

    Marketing promises vs reality. I was very interested when they announced the product and described their design. Then the first video came out and SB showed how to load the magazine so the bolts don't go flying right away. It was right then and there that I decided not to spend money on it. Waiting for Gen2 as this is not acceptable for competition, defense or just to have fun.

    • @timh.7169
      @timh.7169 26 днів тому +4

      for me the worst part is the bolts just exiting the mag when you want to remove the magazine from your stinger and there are still bolts left. That is such a stupid design, I cant believe I waited month and month for it to ship, just to be completely disappointed

      I think that’s a wise decision! Somehow, I only saw that video after I had already placed my order. Until now, I had always been happy with SB’s products, but unfortunately, this has shaken my trust in the company.

      @@timh.7169That's actually a very valid point! They market it for 'dynamic shooting' to enable quick switching between different types of bolts for various situations. Maybe dynamic shooting means that you kick any bolts that fall during the mag switches?

    Excellent review! Jorge Sprave did an interesting video about this yesterday, and he didn't have many good things to say about the M10 either! Sounds like they rushed production to get ahead of the Mey? I think I'll wait before ordering one.

      @daveworthing 28 днів тому +4

      @shockadellick That's true, but l was referring to crappy magazines and the limbs which were underpowered according to their alleged strengths. The Interceptor is a beautiful crossbow, but pretty large and very expensive.

      @shockadellick 28 днів тому +3

      The Interceptor is very heavy and very awkward. The grip/handle is placed too far forward and that compromises one's ability to rest the elbow on the body of your rib-cage while standing and shooting.

    • @daveworthing
      @daveworthing 27 днів тому +5

      @shockadellick Yes, I thought the grip looked like it's at an awkward angle too. The only good thing about it in my opinion, is the quality of the magazine and the fact that it's a bottom loader. The Stinger M10 is much lighter and more compact for sure, but they need to work on the cheap looking magazine. The add on upper is a ridiculous price for a piece of plastic!

      Steambow really dropped the ball with the M-10 magazine. However the AR-6 remains solid, only needing safety for the trigger.
      Don't feel bad, because you still have a good gun if you remove the M-10 upper.
      I don't know if you know....but in home defense, the time it takes to fire 10 shots would never save your life if your attacker has a crossbow also. Why is this truth you might ask.
      Because if you are lucky, you will only have time to load once if you have previously already taken a shot.
      That said, the AR6 is more than adequate

      @@Dutch_Defense_and_Survival After some research in the German GoGun user forums, I found an interesting fix provided by one of the users. It's basically a knurled-head screw with a knurled nut (called "Rändelschraube" in German) embedded in a perfectly fitting high-quality PETG and therefore relatively easy to lock and remove, as it can be done without tools. He even sells the entire kit online (just search for "Raendelschraube" + "Steambow Stinger M10" on the well-known online market place / auction platform named "eB..." (can't mention its full name here because my comment would instantly be removed by UA-cam otherwise)). It's a little pricey (~20€) but the user responses from forum users and customers are good so far, so it's obviously working. I'm sure he could ship the item internationally, if there is some interest. I'm definitely going to give it a try soon.

    Thank you for the review, I bought my AR6 in 2022 and was considering changing to the M10 upper, won't after this. Also when I bought my AR6 I got the 90lb limbs (back then it was only 35,55,90) now I've been told you cannot shoot the light practice arrows with the 90lb limb. I don't want to spend 150 euro + shipping to buy all my ammunition again. In your experience do you think you need heavier arrows for 90lb limb ? or is this steambow trying to make cash ?

    • @Dutch_Defense_and_Survival
      @Dutch_Defense_and_Survival  17 годин тому

      You're very welcome! I think that's a wise choice. I'm very disappointed with it, especially for that price.
      I swear I also remember hearing or reading from them that the light bolts were suitable for their 90lb limbs. In the new video I just uploaded, I actually use it for the first time.
      After seeing tests from other UA-camrs and now observing with my own eyes the penetration differences between the 55lb and 90lb limbs with a light arrow, I highly doubt there's an actual 35-pound difference between them.
      So, I think you're fine. But I don't want you to get hurt, so this is just my opinion. Maybe there is a difference in the quality of the 90lb limbs, and yours is an actual 90lb-honestly, I can't tell anymore.
      They might recommend heavier bolts to make money, or they might do it to try to hide the fact that it's not actually 90lbs.

    I think the M10 magazine is a prototype that was sold!
    It wasn't thought through, which is why I didn't buy it.

    I'm glad I decided to stick to the older Stinger upper.
    The mags look weak and poorly designed to me.
    Rear pin problem is an easy fix, just replace it with a nut and bolt, similar to the front.
    But I wouldn't bother as those magazines make it unusable.

    i do not like the steambow tactical crossbows. they are still 40 bucks pistol crossbows made from cheapo plastic pimped with a cheapo ar shoulder stock. the price of the survival model is a total joke.
    if it had a real trigger mechanism and better quality plastic, i would be in for one.
    i am happy with my redback till they mey interceptor arrives.
    the revo and interceptor are a lttle pricier, but you get better quality and finish.

      Thank you very much for the feedback; it’s much appreciated! I completely agree-the price for the Survival model is way too high. To be quite honest, I’ve never fully understood the value of that model at this price. It’s basically the AR-6, but without the magazine and the grip… yet it costs the same. The difference between the Survival upper (€55) and the 6-shot upper (€150) is around €95. So shouldn’t the Survival at least be €95 cheaper?

    😅 I've put over a thousand shots through mine, with the magazine correctly fitted, there is no problem with the catch, how ever, if you contact steambow, they will send you a clip for the magazine clamp.
    yes the bolts do spring out, if you only have 2 or 3 in the mag, but don't point the magazine at your foot, when you have no shoes on, then the bolt wont go in your foot :) lol

      @markhuckercelticcrossbows7887 I definitely haven’t put a thousand shots through mine, nor am I planning to with how it currently works. I only fired about 40 shots before I concluded that polymer isn’t the right material for the poorly designed ‘AR-15’ takedown pin. I’ll definitely check out that clip, though!
      All I’m saying is that, with the old upper, I didn’t have to worry about the magazine popping open. Nor did the bolts jump out if there were only two or three in it.. So it’s false to claim that the new magazine is ‘safer’ than the old one, as steambow suggest.

      @@Dutch_Defense_and_Survival yup, the magazine needs work, good concept, wrong choice of materials, but when you consider the complete m10, is 1/4 of the price of the MEY, i`ll forgive it, on some things.
      in uk the mags are $175 euro, 120lbs bow limb is $110 euro, folding stock is $60 euro and $700 euro for the may, thats over twice the price of the m10

      @@Dutch_Defense_and_Survivalpolymer is fine, as long as they use the correct polymer. Most of the mag's problems can be solved by using stronger materials, and adding vertical bracing to the follower.
      Polymer gun mags have used similar setups for over a decade and there's no reason it would not work with a crossbow.
