Field dressing a deer should not be nerve racking, after many requests I have created this simple How to video using a tool called a BUTT OUT in under Literally 5 Minutes.
Field dressing deer properly should be learned from the start of hunting, its not a race how fast one can do this, but the proper HOW TO steps will encourage nervous sportsman to enjoy this task.

I think yt is uping their game, I got recommended this and I haven't watched any hunting vids in about a year or so. Glad their not censoring u.
I honestly think UA-cam is okay with hunting, I watch so much waterfowl videos that all I get is hunting recommendations
@@alexpfilbert Well ur getting recommended hunting vids because ur watching hunting vids. The fact that I haven't watched any hunting vids in so long, and still get recommended them says alot.
@@BOB-id1sl my bad, I thought you were implying that UA-cam was censoring hunting channels
@@alexpfilbert I think its more of a "I don't care" type of situation, and also there r probably less ppl pro for hunting than ppl who who dislike it. So yt has to pick the bigger audiences first, so that's y it's not on everyone's recommendations everyday.
I've never watched hunting videos and this was recommended to me. I vibe.
I have absolutely zero idea why UA-cam suggested this to me, but to a degree I'm glad it did. You learn something new every day as they say.
You should see a walkthrough of a "pork processing facility." It's... Well it's something.

@@galahad3195 It did make me cringe a little bit when they hanged them by their legs and cut them from the ass down.
I agree, this was very fascinating, perhaps it'll come in handy in a situation where you need to butcher yourself. People tend to forget the process of butchering meat which is why it's good to understand. That doesn't mean I'm gonna stop eating meat tho XD Fuck being vegan, it tastes so bad if you've ever tried vegan meat before. Question, who's tried vegan meat(any type) before?
So those butt-outs are meant to be used on deer?? This is embarrassing.

Hey sir, just wanna thank you for this video! Got my first deer ever this season as an adult dude new to hunting, and had never had anyone show me or seen anyone field dress a harvest before. Found this video and watched it several times to study. When I was lucky enough to get my buck down on a solo hunt I gave it a go remembering your instructions here. Not gonna say I did a perfect job by any means, but I did well enough and didn’t damage or spoil any meat! Thanks for making this, it’s a great video and extremely helpful! Have a great Christmas!

I like that you don’t split the Pelvic bone when you field dress. People don’t realize how much that helps during the drag out with keeping the legs from flaring open exposing the hind end to a lot of debris. Pretty straight up video, good stuff!
Thank you, exactly why we wait until we get home to split it less exposure the better!

For the new guys... you don't have to cut that sternum. You can cut up to it and still reach it just fine. Ive done both, it doesnt always go as easy as this did to get the bone cut. I typically dont anymore.
The new Silky Outback saw will go right through that bone if you really feel you need to cut it (you don't, as you said). If you have the luxury of hanging the deer and you're properly skinning it, skip the work and use a reciprocating saw lol.
Pov: You fell asleep first at the sleepover

Hunting has been a part of human life.
Knowing that human progress from hunting animals with bow and arrow to domesticating it. Really makes me glad to be born in a time where I could ask for others to put some food in my plate.
These hunters had my respect, because of the process that they had to do just to put some food in the plate.
there is a difference between hunting for survival or because it is fun or a good hobie or because u think u are doing something good for the world. these animals already have a limited environment where they can live because of humans and (sport) hunting sure doesn't help either
@@GamingDualities It will be okay
@@GamingDualities It will be okay
@@GamingDualities lmao you act like whitetail are endangered. Without hunting the deer would overwhelm the ecosystem
@@GamingDualities You couldn't be more wrong. Hunters contribute more conservational efforts towards animals than anyone. It took a long time and there are still some idiots that just love to kill something, but for those of us that love being in the outdoors and respect the animals, we do everything we can to ensure they stay here for many years to come. Not to mention, a deer's environment has diminished due to the expansion of cities where folks like you probably live. Which limits the area hunters can hunt and causes deer population explosions. Look up "suburban deer control" if you don't believe me. So who is hurting them worse?
Oh man I watched so many videos and no one tells you anything about tying off the esophagus it makes perfect sense really appreciate that trick and it just seems like professional like the way to treat your meat professionally for an excellent recovery really appreciate the breakdown and tricks of the trade that you've given
My pleasure my friend I created his channel to share my info to others glad you Lr here for the journey!!!
Tying the esophagus was an interesting concept but imho unnecessary. I’ve cleaned many animals in my lifetime including moose, elk, deer, and bear and have never had an issue with stomach contents from the esophagus. But if it makes you more comfortable or confident there certainly is no issue with taking the extra step. I will have to check out the butt out tool though. Typically I end up splitting the pelvis and taking out the cot hole that way. This looks much easier.
Hey man, I've been putting off going to get a deer on some family land because of the drive and not being super confident in how to field dress the deer. Always check for broadheads before grabbing at the internal organs.
Exactly why I always open part of the chest up, I look inside for any damage first before shoving my hands in, then I slowly feel for broadheads, which is common in some parts, and then proceed aheady, great comment.
Wait, deer can take broad heads and no die ?
santibanez91 not likely but it happens I think he s talking about tips of your broad heads breaking off! They say the same thing about bone splinters from broken ribs poking you.
santibanez91 yes I’ve seen it many times even saw deer with arrows hanging out of its neck under the skull some arrows up the backs spine and many broadheads end up in the no mans land they call it just under the spine above the thoracic cavity usually the backstrap and fatty region!
I have gotten nipped by broken bones
Thanks. This was confidence-inspiring. I've really wanted to hunt for a few years, but always reluctant to harvest a deer, screw up the field dressing and ruin the meat.

This is THE ONLY video to watch in the field before field-dressing a deer (if needed). Straightforward & to the point. Without a butt-out tool, it's a couple more steps. I'm ordering 1 now. The only bad thing I've heard about them is they can tear the bladder open if you're too aggressive with it OR it doesn't work. Maybe it's an acquired special touch to use the butt plug properly?
It took me a couple tries to perfect my technique, but even when I “messed up” it doesn’t create too much of a mess.
I just realized your comment is from last season. How’d ut go with your butt out?
@mubashirmohiuddin5346 the last deer I got I didn't have it but it is now in my pack at all times. Hopefully I can tell you soon how it worked for me
Once when I was little, my uncle brought the whole deer back and strung it up in his yard so I could help him dress and skin it, just so I could see how it's done (I was too young to be shooting things in the woods at 5 am, back then); but the thought of having to do it on the spot has always daunted me. This isn't as irritating or involved as I thought it would be.
It’s not that bad once it’s understood and broken down I appreciate you watching
Nicely done! Now it's time to skin that deer and cut up some meat and can it, or package and freeze it. The hardest work is yet to come!
What a great job and a great video especially for young hunters just starting out. Well done.
The butt out tool works !
Every deer hunter should have one.

Thank you very much

powerfarmer thank you!!!
This is exactly what i needed recommended
Thank you appreciate that Good luck
I've used this up in Canada as well and it is so simple to use. I just rinse it off and keep using every year.
Split the breastbone clear to the brisket and cut the hide to the base of the jaw and cut the trachea and esophagus there. Don't have to tie it off and you get it all out and don't have to fool with it at home. Helps cool the front half and removes all bacteria.
your right about the cooling, but we drag these far distances and I prefer not to have all the dirt, mud and water go in the cavity, less is better for bacteria growth while aging, so I do this then at home finish it which takes a few minutes only, including the piss sack thanks for watching good luck this season
@@paparomesoutdoors711 Makes sense but I won't drag a deer 10 feet. I use a packframe. Can't get dirt on them in a pack frame. Cut them in 2 through the spine and the rib cage and put a half on each packframe. 2 guys can pack a deer out easy that way.
@@paparomesoutdoors711 I'm with you on that although I take out the bladder in the woods.
Here where I live we see more and more people who don't know how to field dress Deer.
It is so bad that local butchers will not accept deer if they are not properly field dressed. I've seen people leave the but hole and Small intestine inside their deer. As well as the heart and lungs for a couple of days then take the deer down to the butcher.
I was helping a guy work up deer for people and we had a guy bring one to us like that. He told him to get that nasty thing off his property. So thank you for this video maybe it will help some people.
That's what I'm used to doing. Never seen the butt out tool before though. Lol
I’ve never heard or seen anyone tie the esophagus. I’ve never had any stomach acids come out.
You never shot a deer that suffers from heartburn huh? Never killed a deer with gurd?
I harvested 4 deer this year alone and never once even considered tying off the esophagus. I believe that’s an unnecessary step in the process. That butt-out thing looks easy to use but if you field dress from the top down it’s easy to get the intestines out all the way down to the colon and rectum without any issues. The only issue I watch out for is nicking a full bladder.
@@parny79 i agree.

Great video, I've never split the sternum or used the butt out tool, this video has me wanting to try it. Thank you for a quality demonstration.
The second most important part is the urinary tract. No body talks about the importance of cutting out this and the bladder. You can easily contaminate everything if you aren't careful.
You are totally correct, I should have covered that, but maybe this season I can do that early on. I do that along with finishing the sternum to the neck at home where I can split the pelvis and not have to drag it through the mud.
Hey man, that is a very neat and quick technique. Wish I had your dexterity. Guut very Guut.
In theory, could you use a similarly carved stick and achieve the same thing? Cool product nonetheless.
I’m sure you could or barbed wire lol but the tool does make it much easier
Wow that was a clean gutting, I didn’t know how quickly you can do that (you made it look soo easy).
Though I’m wondering what you’ll do with the excesses or what’s leftover (bones, guts, pelt, etc)
Can't speak for everyone, but for most of us it just goes back to the forest to be eaten by the critters.
I give everything to my dogs. Legs and most bones, organs, etc. I keep the pelt though and I keep the heart. Tis yummy
I have no deer that we can hunt where I live but by George when the time comes for me to be that one guy that can clean a deer imma shine bright like a gosh darn diamond 🤣😂 great instructional video man.
I love your dad's accent he seems like a good fellow
what do you do with the rest of the guts?
Depending what we are doing with it at one time we used almost all of it for sausage making, but these days it’s easier to buy them cleaned already it days almost a day to clean them properly. The animals of nature survive off of it and it goes within a day sometimes a few hours. From the rodents to birds and more
Why is this in my recommended
I wonder that too
For the upcoming apocalypse
Now you will get more like it.
I just watched a few hunting vids and now im getting deer buttplugs in my recommendations?
