Well, It has been 5+ years since the "discovery" of mummy masks with supposed first century writings of Mark's gospel. I'm still waiting patiently for publication!
You and me too brother! I emailed csntm.org about this not too long ago, and I received an almost immediate reply that they were simply not yet ready to publish. And that was the end of it... I assume that it is still going through a rigorous verification process, and if indeed it is what they originally said that it was, then one would expect it to be a long process. If there was any doubt of their original dating assertions, then I would suspect that we would have known much sooner.
They _did_ say that they were only focusing on the catalogued manuscripts right now. The mummy masks were also supposed to have been taken from Egypt under a ban. This disqualifies them under an agreement by historians that is meant to prevent looting and destruction of artifacts. It will likely be a while before they will be admitted to the general consensus of authentic manuscripts, if they ever are. My guess.
Well then, I doubt the so-called manuscripts will ever ´see the light of day´ since the people who discovered them didn´t recognize Egyptś ban, nor did they abide by historian agreement. My guess now is that IF they get published, it will be through a christian bookstore.
Mark, You know, it could be that they are awaiting the opening of the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC. Maybe the new manuscripts will be one of the prime exhibits where there will be full documentation of their authenticity at the exhibit? Who knows, but the museum is opening soon, so maybe we will find out.
That sounds great. Another few versions to add to the 5000 Bible versions already out, that ought to bring us together finally. One thing not mentioned here (I see it as an unsolved riddle and it don't effect my faith) and with all these new manuscripts showing up, do we know who the authors are who wrote the NT are? How bout the authority who owns most of the copyrights to those 1000's of Bibles? It's the same people who corrupted, censored and influenced the Bible since the original codecs were found starting at about 200 years after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Not to mention, the fact that the Original texts or codecs were lost about 1500 years ago so there's nothing we can reference to as far as these finds go. I believe a lot of the truth and proof is still in the basement at the Vatican. I'm sure we'll find out eventually.
@@itzakehrenberg3449 They're all different. Some have single word mistranslations, some have added notes or verses. The only thing they seem to have in common is the changed names of all the characters. There weren't any J's in the language back then so who's this Jesus guy everybody is giving their faith to? Last I saw, Je-sus means hail Zeus in old Greek text. But is that really surprising, the new testament is written in Greek and 'Hail Zeus' spoke Aramaic.. Nobody looks into the origins of the Bible. How it got started, distributed or placed together. It's sad really.
why make a fetish of old manuscripts! Stick to the Bible's Big Picture: GOD, Creation, Fall, Flood, Babylon, Jesus, Dark Ages, End Times, Jesus's Return, Millennium, Happy Everlasting After!
Thanks for the big picture. That needed to be said. However, fetish? Is that Dan's objective? Let's have the best intelligence. Some preservation efforts have come at the greater personal cost of others. Not all of these can be dismissed so easily as superfluous, and a quick look surely couldn't hurt us... Yes? Hmm.
Judaism has never tought that their future messiah must die for sins and be resurrected by God. That is a Christian idea foisted back onto passages in the Tanaak Judaism teaches that the messiah will destroy the powers arrayed against Israel and set up the kingdom of God on earth. Jesus did not do what the Jews expected of the messiah, and that is why they were astonished at Peter's teaching. The Messiah is not supposed to die and rise again for sins. Judaism teaches that nobody can atone for another man's sin.
A Museum of the Bible...Will it have a more objective theme? Hope itś not a conservative repeat of Ken Hamś Creation museum where dinosaurs are hanging out with people.
Such a great presentation! Thanks!
Great posting! Thanks!
Thank you Dr. Wallace
Dan you are the man
The work he is doing should have been done long before he started.

Fascinating!
I wanna see Dr. Dan Wallace & Hugh Ross Ph.D. speak on New Testament & Science at Acadia Divinity College
Why? Hugh Ross Ph.D. doesn't even believe the first page of the Bible.
Semoga Terus diberkati dalam pekerjaannya.
I hope so too.

If I'm not mistaken aren't those manuscripts the property of a Muslim man who probably would not want them published anyway?
15:03 - sheep skins were used....
Not in Michaelangelo's day in Italy!

All those Bibles are 99+% the same though.

Look for the ´manuscripts´ in a local christian bookstore. I doubt it will publish in any scientific journals.
Most of them are in secular museums. In christian bookstores you can find just their photocopies.
Lousy video
But well worth the info

Rose White why not?
the closer to the original we can get.. the better it is for skeptics
Why make a fetish of old manuscripts? Because they want to prove that the Bible is historically accurate and reliable. I say; Good luck with that.

You would be upset too if Peter told you that the messiah died and rose from the dead when you weren't expecting that.

The Bible teaches that man has dominion over all the beasts of the earth. Is your truth influenced by the Universal Studios' Jurassic fairy tale?
