Maasai Mara Safari | Kenya

Join us as we embark on an unforgettable journey to the breath taking Maasai Mara in Kenya! In this video, we’ll take you through the stunning landscapes and vibrant wildlife that make this region a must-visit destination for any nature enthusiast. We were lucky to experience the thrill of encountering majestic wildlife, including the big five; lions, elephants, leopards, Cape buffalos, and rhinoceroses, as well as cheetah, leopards and baboons.
We were driven into the Maasai Mara Reserve from the Loita Hills to our incredible camp surrounded by wildlife, Basecamp Mara. This short shows the moments of our arrival, the hospitality, tent and the start of our first half day safari as soon as we arrived.
We stayed at the incredible Basecamp Maasai Mara for 4 nights midway through our honeymoon. Our guide, John, picked us up on 5 separate safaris from the accommodation and as soon as we left the facilities we were in and amongst wildlife. We saw tens of lions in separate prides, 2 out the 40 remaining rhino, 1 of the last 30 leopards, elephants, giraffe, crocodiles, hippos, hyenas, cheetah, buffalo and many types of antelope. We felt incredibly lucky to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity.
We were also glad that we had come in off season (June) as even then it was borderline too busy at times. Much is made of sustainability and our guide John was consistent and steadfast to maintain standards however not all drivers and customers were the same and we witnessed this first hand. We would 100% recommend going to the Mara to witness some of the best wildlife on the planet but would also recommend really looking into your provider first and explaining the standards you expect to be met.
