Sketchup is what a lot of people use. Very intuitive and easy to learn.

@@AnDy-of3mj as someone who literally does 3D modelling for a living, I personally would love to see specifically how ALEX does modelling. Everyone has their own process and Alex’s work looks so clean that I’m sure he’s got something going on that is unique to him.
great video idea how you design and use sketchup or any other program but focusing on how you get the idea to take all the measurements so it perfectly fits, not just showing how to use a 3d design program

I third this motion! Let’s spend an episode on something as “boring” as designing a drill bit organizer. I have the 3D printer and basic skills in fusion. One on 3D printed parts from measuring tape to finished product, and one on the process to mentally picture, sketch, then dimension out the laptop arm for the CNC? Would be my favorite videos you’ve done.
Yes, a longer behind the scenes video (even on a second channel) would be awesome. Something that goes through the process of taking measurements and designing in Fusion.

Now you only have to worry about bumping into the computer stand every time you bring in materials and large stuff into the workshop. :) I would fold it up or put it on the other side of the machine, added bonus there is being able too sit down in the couch and control the cnc.

Would definitely love a story time of your 3D printing experience and how you learned to print with different filament and software. Even under one minute would be amazing for me. Love your style of filming and narrating.
you should make a video on your 3d printing , like filaments you use, some of your settings, nozzle sizes and some tips and tricks from your experience 3d printing over the years
I must crown you "The King of Organization!" Just great stuff there! And appreciated seeing how you adapted after the small error in design...that ALWAYS happens in my shop LOL. Thanks for all of your great ideas!
Also instead of having the computer directly tied to the CNC, you can consider using a Raspberry Pi with Octoprint (or whatever applies to CNC machines) so you can remotely send the info and have the pieces cut.
Now if you stay with the laptop stand, and in order to make it not that stiff for rotation, you can apply some paste wax on the mating surfaces. Heck, even candle wax will do! Just rub it in the mating surfaces and it will be smoother with not much play
I already think he sends them remotely to this laptop. The laptop was already stationairy. I believe he uses his desktop to do the design and CAM and then starts the program from the laptop
Usually I would have said that a metal notebook mount would be much better but yours is really a good piece of work, so smart and stable and I'm so envious that I must write this comment.
Hello people. I came back from the year 2067 to tell you that Alex is still trying to organize his tools and optimize his working space. He is currently at the 137th iteration of his 3d printed boxes. His laptop broke not too long after building the stand.

Cnc routers upper shelf, who's now blocked, can be upgraded with two drawers.. 😉
You are the master of workshop organization! Say if you are trying to put wood into slots and it's a snug fit u can use candle wax to make it easier to slide wood into slots. Just take the candle while not lit and rub the wax on the edges of the wood that'll be sliding against each other.

I love these organizing videos. And Alexandré, you can use candle wax to lubricate the moving parts. Found this tip once with those wooden Ugears kits. @ 12:30 💪🏻
I like that you showed the screwups too. For the laptop I suggest you use some cable ties / tidier of some kind so you don't get caught on the laptop wires and also have some kind of 'lock' to hold the laptop in place and stop is sliding, like some kind of friction mat or raised corners

Brother you are a bada$$. This video, and the 3 builds you did, one word "awesome!" That laptop stand so the best idea. And I really like the hardware/tool storage in the drawer. And those bins you made which I've have seen before are great use of space too.

Sorting collets is so satisfying, there's just something enjoyable about seeing all the sizes nearly laid out
But missing ones is infuriating.
You're workplace is like a wet dream.
If that laptop is dedicated to the CNC, I’d double stick tape it to the mount so that it doesn’t get knocked off when you inevitably bump the mount.
lol @9:20 "So now all these screws are super easily accessible" ....pulls out some crazy screwing contraption I've never seen before in my entire life to screw it in =O
Tip, add silicone or rubber mat on top of that laptop tray :P Prevents sliding!
You should make a course in Skillshare about getting started in 3D printing. Great video, as usual.
Suggestion about your CNC machine would be to add removable casters to allow you to float it away from the wall where it's necessary.

What I found incredibly helpful to add to my drillbit organizers is small inserts in the bottom where I could embed small magnets so the bit gets hold in the slot. This way if you bump the box they don't fall out or shift.

A project idea you might like would be to build a small divider between the CNC and your couch? Im sure you dust extraction system is great but doesn't get everything, so a small divider could between the CNC and the couch could make a big difference. You could try making it a try-fold or quad-fold or maybe even a like a pull down shade or something that pulls out of the wall. Cheers!

That laptop stand/arm :o this is becoming the best organised workshop i have ever seen
Nice build! The biggest change I'd make is to put the laptop arm on the *other* side of the CNC rig so it would be *completely* out of the path that you most use. (I would also put a second joint on it for more positioning options, but that's just me.)

Could build a NUC/Tiny PC vesa mount and remote into that for CNC control. Hard mounted, out of the way, cable managed, etc.
Graphite powder would work great as a lubricant for the pivot

3d print a jig that will hold that chair perfectly straight, then drill down the backrest breaks so you can epoxy some threaded rod in there
Paste wax on wood to wood spinning bit to make it smoother
if you want to lubricate the computer table i have found that bees wax is a great long term lubricant for wood apposed to graphite

For your bit box, where the bits sit in grooves on the lid, it’d be cool to have magnets imbedded to keep them in place.

I would suggest an indentation for your computer on that arm surface.
That way it becomes even less of a risk of dropping the laptop.
Or a lip around the edge, like the edging for the CNC router.
These are nice! It'd be cool to have a website or program that would let anyone remix their own customized boxes to plunk in whatever bits and pieces they have (e.g. for drill bits).

Absolutely love your videos, and got myself a 3d printer a while back because of you(just got a new one too because the old one broke on me) but I still haven't designed anything myself in Fusion or anything. Hoping you would be willing to take some time to maybe make a video (or video series) that would go through you designing some of your favorite organizational prints, and throwing out helpful tips along the way.

As for the chair I assume some nice birch plywood should solve the problem with the grain direction in the back supports.
Sure you'll lose the solid wood vibe but I think it'd look pretty nice in plywood.

Next time you make drawers you could use the CNC to cut out the grid system at the bottom of the drawer so you don't have to print and glue them. :) all your videos are excellent :)
Have you tried putting the drawer with all your accessories in the dead space above the plywood storage? Or would that not fit? I think that would be even cleaner than it is now! Love what you did, it looks awesome!
I’m in the heating and air conditioning field and a hobbyist wood worker. I’ve seen you use your 3D printer a lot and I’m wondering, with a 3D printer, could you make a custom tool box where your tools snap in place? So they don’t get all mixed up bouncing around in the back of a van. Was going to attempt a build out of wood but I feel wood would be heavy. I was never into the thought of 3D printing but I have to admit it is growing on me
You could but you would have to do a lot of testing with the tolerances and, depending on where you live, you'd have to be careful on what type of filament you use because I have had 3D printed parts get soft in the heat of my car and deform 👍

If you are sending from Windows pc I suggest changing to some sort of Linux server. I use cncjs on a raspberry pi to send my gcode. I have had too many failures with sending from windows. I just don't know if cncjs is compatible with your cnc machine. Also works good with my laser engraver too
