- Mary has returned and she has decided she is going to stop Ms. Andrews from scaring her children anymore. This really is a nanny fight and one of the scariest scenes from the play, I saw it and was like "GO ASHLEY!" I kinda screamed it, ^_^"" Whose side are you on?
ASHLEY. That last note is phenomenal.
When I Was Younger I always thought that Mary was an Angel, since in the first scene she was seated in a cloud, and this kind of recreates this image in my mind since she effectively sends a Demon like Ms. Andrews back to Hell where she can no longer hurt people. Scary yes, but still it's Good Vs Evil, and that Evil will always be triumphed by Good, as Ms. Andrews is powerless against Mary .
ajitter89 light always conquers dark, love conquers hate
I have seen this show three times and this is my favorite part. When Mary sends Mrs. Andrew to hell in a birdcage. Fantastic.
I saw the tour in Chicago three weeksa ago and Ashley and Gavin were AMAZING. I was glad that the sets were more simple and just added another quality to the show. Our Miss Andrew held her note for literally 20 secs. When she finished everyone burst into applause that stopped the song for a moment. It also happened after "Setp In Time". We must have been a good audience because the actors were grinning and looking at each other trying not to smile.
i love ruth!! 8 times a week and i still haven't gotten tired of hearing her sing this song...
I really wish Ms. Andrews had more stage time. I LOVED HER!!!!!! She is the polar opposite of Mary, she has no redeemable qualities. She's bitter, vindictive ugly, sadistic...and AWESOME! Only two songs? Not fair. I would've loved to see more nastiness...
I know that Miss Andrew usually exits via the birdcage in the middle of the floor, but I always thought that for when they used the cage from the doorway under the stairs, a great way of ending this song would of been to have Mr Banks appear from his study, and effectively slam the door shut without thinking... thus he gets to finish off Miss Andrew... pointless I know but anyone think I have a point?
They really should have expanded on Miss Andrews in the musical. She should have had a longer screentime
my absolute favorite part of the musical
I love Mary Poppins, loved the movie since I was a little girl, and loved the musical as well
Way to GO Ashley on that last High Note!
Sierra Boggess can hit that note flawlessly than Ashley. Let's have her play it when it returns to Broadway... (and don't forget about Nicole Scherzinger as Miss Andrew)
I was there last week too! Ugh, Miss Andrew was amazing!
@SRfangirl Just seen how it's done on a UK video!!! If you look closely at the end of this video - the small bird cage on the chest of drawers falls through the top of the drawers - so quick, and it happens right at the end of the song along with the explosion and larger cage which contains Miss Andrew - therefore it's all covered and you wouldn't notice it!!! :)
OMG! BEST # IN THE WHOLE SHOW!!!
I saw this last night and it was freaking awesome. If anyone of you has seen The ToothFairy. Doesn't the birdcage remind you of the Hellevator? That's what it reminded me of when she went down. Omigod. Best show on earth!
You mean _Toothless?_
@@DarthWill3 my bad I guess it is called Toothless. Huh. Also this comment was from 12yrs ago 🤣🤣🤣
"And I've come back without notice!"
That head sway. God, Ashley is hilariooouuuusss. Do you have the full show to trade? Since Ashley's left the role, I'll never see her as Mary :(
Or does anyone have the full show with Ashley to trade? Plllleeease?
In my school musical I’m playing Mary and one of my really good friends is playing Miss Andrew.
@littleladysonic That's in the touring version. She does go through the floor in the official Broadway version.
Thats Not Right Thats The Official Musical and the first
Mary Poppins The Musical is even better the second time around
The whole Cast & Crew totally ROCK'S especially Laura Michelle Kelly (AKA) Mary Poppins on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre here in New York City.
I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with you on scarlett. she's the best hands down
omg go ashley and miss andrews! so awesome the both of them!
I think the set design for the tour is niftier. Having the jail cell magically appear in the other room is a neater trick. And then minutes later the room is back to normal.
It never drops fiercly in London, it goes about the same speed.
Reminds me of Walt Disney overruling P.L. Travers during the production of the '64 flick.
I LOVE her too!
When i saw Mary Poppins, the bird cage in which Mary places Miss Andrew in it, was a lot bigger than the one shown here. It was freaking cool. I was like "yea... go Mary" Im definitely on Mary's side! ^^ Bai Miss Andrew >:3
I saw it tour also and it worked very well. As for who's side I'm on definetley Mary's!
They are both the same musical. But the song Temper Temper has been replaced with a less scary number. It upsets me because it is one of the darker parts of the musical and that is what really makes it great. Temper Temper is going to be replaced in all further productions including Broadway soon enough.. So I read.
What I want to know is what happened to the doggone little bird cage that the lark was in? When the big one with Ms. Andrews in it vanishes, so does the little one. This is my second time seeing the number (1st time was on Broadway) and I'm as clueless now as I was last August...and I do magic tricks in my spare time! Normally I'm pretty quick about figuring out stuff like this-magic tricks in stage shows, but this one, well, it's got me scratching my head.
"Not like that you stupid boy!"
@littleladysonic yeah that happened in the one i saw to. I think it's because the theatre doesn't have the ability to make people go through the floor.
i Love this Part
But Mary Kind Of scared me when Everything went Red And Put Ms Andrews into The cage She waS Like "DOWN TO HELL WITH YOU"
She didn't send Ms. Andrews to hell in the book. She simply shrunk her and put her into Caruso's cage, then Caruso comes back and carries her into the sky, drops her and after Ms. Andrews crashes(unharmed), Mary returns her to normal size and Ms. Andrews runs away in a panic.
She actually left in the book, and Mary didn't lie about like she does in this! It's like the creators and producer(I'm looking at YOU Cameron Mackintosh!) mixed up bringing the books and Disney songs to life with making Mary Poppins "edgy" and "cool"(Yeah.....more overused electric guitar please.......) that having Mary send a living person to hell would be accepted as such by CHILDREN(Whom this show is marketed mainly towards, besides the average swaths of Disney loyalists, if not families who surprisingly aren't having a field day over this darkness like they would with Hunchback of Notre Dame)!!!
Sorry to finally speak my mind this way, but as you can tell, I really don't like this show that much. >(
I've seen Ashley Brown as the head nun in The Sound of Music on stage.
What's next for Ashley? Carlotta in POTO?
Why didn't she do the bannister slide? :( She did that in the UK Tour.
That's right and Can You Upload Let's Go Fly a Kite Original Broadway Cast Too, Please?
is chicago on brodway musicals different?
How come she didn't slide up the banister at 4:19? When I saw it, she flew up the banister when she hit that note. Maybe the mechanism wasn't working right at this performance....
She doesnt slide up the banister like she did in london :S
Team Mary/Ashley
4:18 ASHLEY. FRICKIN'. BROWN. I'M GONNA FORCE YOU TO PLAY CARLOTTA GIUDICELLI SOON.
This is one of my favorite songs, but I don't understand something. After this song was over and Miss Andrew squawks, why does she walk into her cage
Anyone know whose playing Ms Andrew here?
they did when i saw it. maybe it just wasn't working the day this was filmed.
SHE DID WOW 4:15 did good
@mikeride101 where did you see the video? :) thanx~``
Weird. In the version I went to, Mrs. Andrew, played by Ellen Harvey, went through the closet rather than the floor.
normally she would slide up the bannister, but i think the mechanism wasn't working that night.
even on tour, she slides up the bannister.
as for the cage, i guess they wanted to be more gentle :) lol. jk. idk about that one :]
if i could find my video cam i would do the part that mary poppins does and practically perfect
or find the old disc of me doing it
I dnt think you should compare cause evry1 puts there own spin on Mary i saw Ashley and she was AMAZING and just how I saw Mary in my mind and this song was and is one of my favs
I don't think they can, didn't they sign a contract to make it more like the books? I really don't want them to change it
1 person eats brimstone and treacle.
@littleladysonic yeah, i saw her two weeks ago thusrday, and got to meet her. i knda' perfer the tour way
@OohcoolProductions Guess Mary always doesn't have to be practically perfect eh?
Where's Ms. Andrews...and why does it smell like brimstone in here?
Uhm...Bert went thru the house? LOLZ.
Where is this production staged becuase when i saw it Mary didnt walk up the stair, she fly up on the bannister.
I wished Miss Andrews would've put up more of a fight (Like having powers of her own. literally, an evil version of Mary) then it would've been a better scene. Out of place I know, but wouldn't it be cool to see Andrews throwing Mary through walls?
cool scene nontheless
What did you expect her to do? Call upon all the powers of Hell like Maleficent did? 😆
Why ms Andrew sounds like a bird when Mary Poppins sends her under the house
Ah alright then. When i saw it Ms Andrew was knocked it the chair and thrown into the cage under the stairs, so didnt really how the cage fell
Mary all the way.
go mary!! ^^
@DeoSoleil IDK! Where's the logic there? XD
@treycornelius Mind control, I think.
I've always wonder where Ms. Andrews went. Did she go down to hell? Or just under the house?
Ms. Andrew went to hell
I've been thinking this too
VarietyGirl20 Yes i think it too
She was the holy terror so thinking she went somewhere that fit her name
ashley may not be as good as LMK (The shake in her operatic like voice makes LMK a little more superior) BUT ALL IN ALL GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!
