Bought myself 1 back on Tuesday and went to the range today with it. Getting that 18th round in the magazine can be a bit of a chore but I put about 375 rounds through mine (brass, steel & aluminum). Single shot, double and triple taps and mag dumps, not 1 hiccup. Great gun.
Unfortunately Remington is already dead. Assets have been divided and bought up. We'll still see "Remington" branded products, but as an entity they filed bankruptcy and died.
The hate is probably from people who just hate Remington based on their reputation when it comes to all the recent handguns. I agree. At the current price point, I think it's a great gun. For around the same price or slightly cheaper I'd rather get a Beretta APX, but I wouldn't be disappointed at all if I purchased this gun. It's still cheaper than a lot of its competitors and is a new pistol that's actually reliable from Remington. I shot one at the range 9 months ago and it was great. The trigger take up is great, the break is crisp, and the reset is even better. The RP9 changed my opinion slightly on Remington and I thought it was a great first step in winning back the trust of the public.
I just bought one today. Prices are high, because all prices on guns and ammo are high right now, because... It's January 2021. Anyway, Yeah that 18th cart was a pain to get in. Then I emptied it and re-fed the mag. They were all easier the second time loading it. The 18th was easier after some table tapping as well as pushing the rim in more toward the front of the 17th bullet... it pushed the 17th cart downward at the front end of it so it was easier to slide in the 18th. Sorry if that explanation sucked. Best I could do. I'll be taking it to the range this weekend. I'm excited. I really like this model so far.
Thank you for this video I really appreciate you taking the time to do it not a very well-known or highly popular pistol but I am in the process of cleaning one for a friend and I took the hinge piece out in front of the trigger system and the slide lock spring fell out I needed to see how it was mounted in thank you
I've been liking mine ever since getting it last year, better than I was expecting. I got mine for under $250 brand new, and that is an exceptional deal. I have yet to have any failures with the pistol and look forward to seeing how yours fares.
I wanted a big, ugly, budget minded 9mm handgun for the range, and I found it with the RP9. $230 after rebate and tax, mild shooting, and accurate. Only 1 malfunction in 587 rounds(mag spring bound up). Not too bad for a cheap gun. Tip: The slide comes off easier if you hold the trigger throughout the slide removal process.
I'm really looking forward to your shooting impressions. I think most UA-cam channels hear MAC's opinion or Hickok's opinion and they all just pile on with the same opinion with video titles like "Worst gun of 2017" etc. I think this unboxing review shows you're not going to do that. I have wanted to grab one of these to see if all of the channels are just blowing it out of proportion. I trust your reviews and look forward to hearing about your experience.
The Triggerati say what you will, but I really like my Creed. Every time I pull the trigger it goes bang. I carry it IWB daily. Plus I just shoot very well with the Creed.
I didn't imply that it was a bad gun, only a budget gun. I've heard nothing but positives about the Creed. I hate the name, but the gun appears to be a very reliable one. I intend to get one eventually. ; )
My Gun the +p fires ok, the lugar 9mm when fire it the shell sticks out the chamber. I figured the +p I used was slimmer than just the 9 mm. Overall it fires great. The recoil is comfortable. Not too new to guns, it’s great, however, I’m going to get a glock.
Good point about the manual, never assume folks know. My time behind the counter always surprised me folks would ask for help picking out ammo... as in they didn’t know if they just bought a 9mm, .380 or a .38. Yikes! Nice review nice finish & features, even if not really ambidextrous.
Add to that if they did a quick google and learned that .380 = 9x17mm! While working at a range I had a customer complain that their ammo was falling through the gun, only got one to fire. I went out there to see what the problem was... .380 ammo being used in a .38SPL revolver!
I remember when these were first introduced as the RP45, obviously chambered in .45 ACP. That may be its biggest flaw: it wasn't designed around the 9mm. I don't these are just inexpensive, I think they're just cheap. If they were inexpensive, believe me i would be jumping all over this. It's nice that Smith and Wesson and also Ruger have inexpensive, not cheap, polymer 9mm alternatives that still run well. I'm definitely eager to see your shooting video, though!
You _do_ like to support some underdogs. One can barely find _anything_ on Remington pistols now. I almost didn't recognize the RP9. While they obviously did some things right on the RP9, you've found out one reason why it and other Remington pistols are not so popular. Fitment and ease of function is important. People don't want to fumble with their handguns. And those sorts of misses and other design problems led to the brand becoming known as less than best for handguns. That and a mother ship which either doesn't care or just wants to suck the life out of Remington, has led Remington to its current crisis. In this market, you know a company's reputation for reliability, ease of use, availability of accessories like holsters, and now the likelihood that it'll be around to provide for service, recalls and warranty coverage, have become the new mandatory requirements. People will overpay what a pistol is really worth as a device if it meets those requirements. So Remington is now having to sell their wares for cost or less just to get cash to pay the mounting debt. Even if it escapes its unhelpful master, it'll take some innovative management and time to recover and regain the public's trust. -
So true and sad. Fortunately it's just Chapter 11 and so the brand will likely survive. Golden Saber is great ammo, but the packaging had aged and people looked for something shinier. The finish on the RP9 is incredible, but it looks like the engineers were unfamiliar with handgunning. Range review will be out soon.
Mine is a RP45, maybe the RP9 is different. The right side slide release doesn't work. It will not hold 15 rounds as the mag indicates. It 'requires HOT ammo or it will short cycle due to the weight of the slide and the recoil spring strength. Ejection is erratic due to the floppy ejector mounting. And the worst problem is that if you do a 'bullet check' the slide comes out of battery too easily and due to a machined 'detent' in the slide it catches and must be bumped back into battery by smacking the rear of the slide. To check this load the mag full (14 rounds anyway) and put one in the barrel. You have to have ammo in the gun for this problem to show up! Now retract the slide slightly to check for bullet and let the slide return very gently. It should return to battery under good spring pressure no matter how """slowly""" you allow it to return.

I have a rp9 and I love it runs great mines locks and releases on both sides for right handed and left handed
Support Remington, let's make America great again!

I love this gun, shoots great. I can't wait for the 45 model to be available in my neck of the woods.
Got mine and it runs perfect but the extractor seems loose but noticed his is as they put it back together and Remington said should be fine
Dont know why all the hate. Great price point, mine runs flawless.

I love my RP45, shoots ball, HP Brass and aluminum no problems. Sometimes i think its a bandwagon deal to bash things.

Very nice table top review. Can't wait to watch the range video.

Looks like a PPQ-M&P hybrid. I'd still probably go for the Creed if I was looking for a new budget full-size gun.
The Triggerati say what you will, but I really like my Creed. Every time I pull the trigger it goes bang. I carry it IWB daily. Plus I just shoot very well with the Creed.

Graham Baates
Ha! Same thing happened to my FFL guy, they returned the gun, wouldn’t work. He was putting 9mm in his 1911 .45 😆
Just kinda wish you would show me how to take the slide back plate( number 13 ) firing line out please
Mine has been a great Range Gun. Eats everything I put through it.

Just bought one, not sure why it has bad reviews. Other than being a bit top heavy I like what I see. Price was too good to pass up.
They're not bad guns, watch the Shooting Impressions video to see which ammo it likes, etc.
It's ashame this didn't take off in popularity like a lot of other budget handguns. I would have loved to have had a RP in .45 or 10mm
How's the extractor on that mine is fairly loose but not having any problems it's just loose
Skip to 2:00 to actually see the gun

Number one rp9👍👍👍
Verygood
They are cheap now as Remington is just struggling for liquid cash but for the original target price point I would go CZ P09 all day over the RP9.
External safety?
Don't you mean external extractor?
Can I buy it?
It's a big gun, it would be more appealing in .45. Since its a 9mm I have other 9's
When someone makes a nine better than my 92FS...
I saw it in .45 at Grabagun
It might be fun to rebarrel it for .38 Super or 9x23mm Winchester. FWIW: The RP45 has been announced.
Noreen bad news 338 Lapua mag how bout a table top on that one
Filed chapter eleven.
inside looks like the chassis from a p250/p230
Rp 45acp the exact pistol

Valid points. I think they rushed this gun to market.
+P rated? Hell, the slide is squib rated.
Halfway through the video and I already hate it, the lack of support on the cartridge only confirmed that notion.
That thing is Hi-Point ugly
I bought an RP45, I would not recommend this pistol to anyone. Has some major flaws.
