@@ryanquinlan9718 thanks would you recommend the 5.0 over the 3.5 eco boost? I’m looking at buying my first ford truck all I’ve owned so far are rams and Toyota
@@SP-xf1qv Scotty bashes on the ecoboosts. I own a 2020 f150 with the 3.5 and it has been amazing. I have 190,000 km on it and it is still going strong. If you are on top with maintenance it will last you a long time. I say you should go for it.
Real world. I had a 2023 Toyota tundra limited crew cab. I drive mainly mixed driving. City and highway. I averaged 16.5 miles during ownership. Yes i sold that hunk of crap.
Specifically on the EcoBoost, the water pumps like to esplode. I can’t speak on the V8s because I have never had ones but the water pumps on the 3.5 EcoBoosts like to fail.
Have a 2000 ford expedition for 10 yrs and still running strong. International driven up an down mountain and blizzards and still going strong. Moral of the story.... Do your maintenance!!!
Tundras too, but the F-150-350 has about 20 different trim levels which is most by far for any truck brand and I see just about all of them every week😂
Check the battery voltage. My 97 had a ABS problem for over a year. Battery had low enough voltage to cause a problem with ABS module, but not low enough to keep it from starting and running and going down the road. When the battery finally did die I replaced it, and ABS worked like a charm.
Have the same engine setup in my 2016 xlt and have had no issues. Plenty of old school v8 power and no complicated or annoying features like newer trucks.
I can tell by this you haven't ever had the motor or transmission out of your plastic truck. Pulled my M5r2 for a clutch last month, between both driveshafts, the bellhousing, and crossmember mount there were 25 bolts in total. Took me 4 hours by myself in the heat. Only god knows how many electrical linkages and fluid lines you will have to move out of your way if you want to attempt to prove your truck is as simplistic as my 95 F150.
Don't forget chevy trucks are famous for abs not working either! My 01 Silverado has the light on and living with it. Pulled the fuse for safety had one time the brakes push back when slowing down and couldn't brake at all!
I like the Coyote 5.0. Great engines. I an an old FE guy, but the Coyote is the best V8 since the my stopped making the FE. I put flat tops 390 rods an milled the deck to get good quench from a 360 and it got 18mpg on the road empty. NP-435 and a Range Torque Splitter for an OD side and regular speed 4 speed. Fords are great trucks.
couple weeks ago I got 21MPG on a highway trip in my 2013 F150 5.0L 4x4 99K mileage. around town kind of sucks at 16mpg. Thanks to Scotty when I bought a used F150 4-years ago, I looked for a 5.0L with the 6-speed transmission. So far it have been reliable truck.
I've had a Ram Dually 3500 Diesel (2017) since new. The only problems I've had with it has been with the ABS system. Dealer replaced 3 modules under warranty. The lights and bells started again a few weeks ago. I took it to the dealer. ABS pump this time. Dealer replaced it with labor for a little over $500. I thought for today's times, that was a great deal.
Those you can actually unbolt the module from the pump without breaking any brake lines loose. Just taking the computer part off of it. 3rd party site you ship it out and get it back repaired plug n play ready. Did this myself for $179 bucks and took care of my traction brake abs lights
My 09 4.6 F150 did the same thing, I just bought a new ABS from the junkyard for 50 bucks, used forscan to reprogram the donor ABS, and my scan tool to bleed it. No problems, but now I have a issue with the parking light flashing and the trailer sway warning coming on even though I'm not towing.
I had a ‘13 f-150 and replaced the abs module. $75 from auto salvage yard. Used forscan to program the module. And bleed the brakes the same way as any other vehicle. Never had a problem since.
That version of the F150s also came out with the Platinum Limited trim. I believe they don't make that anymore because it was a special limited production trim.
I pray my abs module never goes out or else I won't be able to drive my car home because my car doesn't have a limited slip differential and relies on abs to break the spinning wheel Ahhhhhh I should of waited to find the awd version of the Infiniti G37 💀 @@JFlarper
Why does Scotty keep repeating that old engines have the same gas mileage but are way too complex? He knows that most of the changes to the engine and drivetrain are for reducing emissions and not necessarily for improving gas mileage.
I have a 2014 f150 5.0 355 gears 24 mpg cnd gallon. Pulls hard, 134,000km no issues yet. Change trans oil every 60,000km and engine oil every 5000km hope it lasts forever

Neither is perfect, but both are quite manageable... The F150 has towed tons (tons) of stuff back and forth across half the continent over the eastern mountains several times -- just keeps coming back for more...

My 10 year old Ford has been a much better car than the new 2020 Camry it replaced. I'm not sure I'd say that about the new Fords with the plastic belts inside the engines.
I have daily driven a 2004 Lariat with the 5.4L 3v V8 ever since 2016 when I turned 16 and haven’t had any problems with it except the alternator and radiator had a leak. It currently has 291K miles. Edit: also need to replace the struts.
