Several sources tonight are saying the Avs and Islander are working on a 1 for 1 center swap. Brock Lester to the Avs for Casey Mittelstadt to the Islanders. Would you want to give up Casey for a guy who is a rental? Unless there is a center the Avs would like to sign in the offseason and it just clears Casey's salary off the books. If you could get the Islanders to retain half of Lester's salary, that move would open up more room to go out and get defensemen the Avs would like to bring in.
It was reported today that the Avs believe Ritchie is the future and want to give him one more year to develop. They want a veteran to bridge the gap. That being said, Brock is a FA after this season. So I'm doubtful he's going to sign a one year deal. As you point out, his points are the same, but it's a big deceiving. Brock has twice the goals and not as many turnovers as Mitts. All that being said, I will be surprised if they do this over a ROR option.
You have to replace both 3rd pair guys by the playoffs. Maybe that meanss Shylington & go get a 4th dman,& move Manson to 3rd pair-thats fine. But you can't start the playoffs with Middleton or Malinski higher than 7th,& 8th. Id like Souce but why would Vancouver trade him to 1 of the teams they are chasing for the playoffs though?
a lot of chatter today that Casey is being shipped out. Time will tell, but I really wonder if they can find a 2C and get the help on D with a guys like Ferraro.
I hate to say it, but I really hope so… there just doesn’t seem to be any hope for Casey to overcome whatever it is that happened to him to manifest this rut into the everlasting situation that is what exists now. He’s had ample opportunity to get his shit together and start producing for the position he plays… can’t keep waiting around forever. That would just be false hope at this point
@@alyjane7366 the strain on the first line with the time they spend on the ice is showing. And a lot of the problems have to do with the 2C position. Hate to say it, but it is what it is. I just don't know if they can find the answer at the deadline. I hope so. But when you look at the Vancouver game you have 22 minutes for Necas/24 for MacKinnon/Makar with 31 minutes/Toews with 32 minutes. These issues have to be fixed.
@JamieTheBangles11Fan Couldn’t agree more. A lot of people seem to be hung up on Casey still hoping that he pulls through this slump, but I feel like it’s more coming from a place of denial… like we’re talking 3+ months of this shit. I was rooting for Casey for the first few weeks, but at this point I just can’t anymore. Like you said, it is what it is. He needs to go. What are your thoughts on Brock Nelson being a potential fit? I feel there’s both pros and cons to him potentially joining the Avs, but the pros I find are enticing. But if they did trade Mittsy for Nelson, they’d obviously have to give up more than just him
@@alyjane7366 Kadri had similar production his first season here. You dont just ship off Casey after ONE season. I think our front office is smarter than that. You can still develop him. He's just in a funk (but not really anymore after the last 10 games)
@Ziggz47 “Our” front office, eh? As in you work for the organization?? If that’s the case, then maybe you should go back to doing your job to keep ol’ Mittsy boy on the Avs instead of getting into it with strangers on the internet lol. Either way, what I’m saying isn’t an isolated thought. Doing a quick google search of his name will show you multiple reports from the past few days of the possibility of him being traded to other potential teams. Obviously time will only tell. But you saying he’s in a ‘funk’ is not a valid excuse anymore. It’s been 3+ months of this. He’s inconsistent and he doesn’t fit in with the Avs. Think what you want, but I highly doubt that he’ll be on the team for much longer.
Honestly I think they’ll sign Bennett this summer and get rid of mittelstadt. I much rather have Bennett over ROR. It’ll give Ritchie more time to develop into a 2C and then Bennett drops down to 3C late in his career.
Mack and Rants had a special chemistry. I don't think you can replace that easily even if with another superstar player. Chemistry is something that finds you, not you find it. When it happens, you should never let that go. They let it go and Necas is an amazing player but he does't have the goal scoring ability and shot that Rants had for MacKinnon's great passes.
@@breakaway2x What are you talking about??? Necas looks way better than rantanen ever did and necas is only gonna get better he already has insane chemistry with that line. He has 10x the goal scoring ability that rantanen had
@@kalebmcdaniel9147 necas looks better than I thought he would but Rantanen was a top 5 winger in the league when he played for us. Necas can’t carry our offense if Mack ever gets hurt
Also provorov was one of the people that protested the lgbtq jerseys. So he just doesn’t fit in CO imo. Imagine Provo during pride parade in Denver lol. For this reason, I have an irrational distaste for him. Admittedly😅

Idk how brock really moves the needle from casey. They have the same point totals, and he's 33 years old.

Bo Byram for 1-2 years of Brock? Bad!
"Malinski malaise" excellent alliteration Nathan
Ferraro played with Makar at Umass
seems like a good fit already and they need a physical presence on the ice. I'm all for it.
I really want the avs to go for Ryan Oreilly, I don't think any other trade they could make would ever be as impactful

I'd be okay with it if we did ROR and Ferraro, or Evans and Ferraro.
Yes, I do know what you mean!
How did jake evens make #2 thats how much he improved in 1 year thats crazy never watched him play this year
Being a career 8% shooter that was running at 31% through New Years certainly helps.
He's regressed back to his career average since.

Do not under any circumstances ever target Seth Jones

Bring back ROR imo. He still has some juice. Any interest in Marchand too?
Now that Rantanen is gone, if Mack is kept off the board our offense is anemic.

That take is just stupid and stupid people are, gladly, not in charge🤦♂️
Ffs if he fits on the ice and with the cap that’s all that matters.
