I lived on Long Beach Island for 62 years 1959-2020.
Seasonal, year round weekends, year round, vacations. Hurricanes, Nor'easters, 2 major blizzards, many big day waves....

Thanks for a fantastic visit to the beginnings of the Jersey Shore. The story of each seaside community went right to the heart and soul of the place.

A narrative that was long overdue. Because of the long North/South dual orientation of our unique Garden State, many folks know little of the background of the seaside towns that are at the “other end” of the Jersey Shore they knew related to where they had grown up. Interesting to all visitors, but a great service to those of us who live here in the State of New Jersey.

Thank you, Eric! That is a very nice comment. :) This video tracks NJs coastal history north to south. I made another one that's over 4 hours and explores the shore's history chronologically. I made an error in that one and included a few copyrighted photos by accident. Hopefully that will be up again soon after making it more polished and some total re-editing. Going to try to make this one more polished eventually too. Thanks again!

Fret not about those changes. With projects like these, no matter how good they become, there are always things that can be improved. I had already seen your major series before and suggested it to others when the subject comes up. It is more work than most viewers can appreciate. Without inclusion of those great archival shots, the series would have less appeal. All those extraordinary buildings……..gone, but thanks to your work, not forgotten. When you get all caught up, I can think of two projects you might think appealing. (But don’t let me distract you.)

Been to all the Jersey shore towns, they have been declining for decades. People are more sophisticated now and demand more than greasy pizza and T shirt shops. New Jersey beaches are mediocre, usually cold and polluted. The new playground is south Florida. So much better in every category.

Excellent video. One note though. The name Absecon is pronounced with the emphasis on the middle syllable, and the "O" is more like a short "u". Anyway, very interesting history. Much of it was new to me. Thanks.
