I've been a massage therapist for 40 years, and a common question for new clients is on magnesium intake, and all of they've considered taking it! My favorite is glycinate, and liquid mag/ trace mineral.
Tip on the green veggies - get organically grown when you can, as chemical fertilizer is like fast food for plants, and they don't absorb the minerals (including magnesium) well!

I´m taking magnesium citrate and works like magic. I´ve had shoulder and AC joint (collarbone/clavicle/acromium) pain due to some overuse, injury and even a traumatic event for 5 years. I couldn´t do pushups without feeling pain or uncomfortable, to the point that I would quit doing them. I´ve been taking citrate for over ten days and then one day in my vacation far for home, not going to the gym, decided to try pushups. To my surprise, I had no pain at all. Unbelievable!!! I haven’t been extremely fatigued since I started taking magnesium, and all of my joint pain is completely gone as a 27-year-old male. I shouldn’t have had joint pain in the first place being this young, but I had it for the last 8 years, getting worse each year
Edit- Also, when I'd go to the gym, my body would be WRECKED for two weeks, extreme soreness and weakness. Yes, TWO WEEKS. I went 3 days ago and I feel 100% back to normal. And the fatigue, if I got 9 hours of sleep and went to go drive 20 minutes in the dark, it was really really dangerous for me to be driving, I just couldn't keep my eyes open, it was like I had narcolepsy. To the point where I was using smelling salts to keep my eyes open, and that alertness would wear off after like 30-60 seconds. Two days ago I got 5.5 hours of sleep and I felt completely fine, great even. I just want to detail this in case other people are experiencing similar things, hopefully it can help someone

I was drinking far too much water and caffeine daily, not eating processed foods, so my sodium was dangerously low as well. My blood pressure was very low, I had many symptoms aligned with MS, TIA, panic attacks, you name it.
I overdid the fluids, I also fasted too much, and I reached for more coffee to get energy.

What magnesium supplement should you buy?
Magnesium sulphite magnesium oxide are good for diarrhoea (not for daily use, as it can also cause diarrhoea, and it can kill the good bacteria in the bowels)
    - chelated magnesium often contains magnesium oxide
Magnesium citrate is absorbed easily and the most, it will benefit, sleep, being tired, twitching, cramps, chronic constipation, gastritis, Vitamin D
Magnesium glycinate is very common and is easily tolerated, it is good for neurological symptoms like, twitching, cramps, feeling tired, sleeping, NOT constipation
Magnesium malate is good for highs absorption can help with hydration, chronic dehydration, diarrhoea
Magnesium threonate is good for neurological symptoms, like depression, feel tired, concentration, migraines - mental pains.
Note: DO NOT MIX DIFFERENT MAGNESIUM SOURCES TOGETHER, take them separately, and at different times of the day.
    What doses should I take?
For chronic deficiency: start at a gram, a gram and a half, 800 mg - after your feeling better, the average intake is 400mg of magnesium, not of magnesium citrate or glycinate or malate.
    What’s the difference?
There is a difference between Elemental Magnesium and the combination of magnesium that you’re getting.
    Eg.
When taking magnesium citrate (for instance) maybe 40% is elemental magnesium and the rest is citric acid. So if you take 800mg, 300mg might be elemental magnesium and the rest is citrate.
Try to keep and intake of 400mg in between diet and other sources such as supplements
Note: ALWAYS DISCUSS WITH YIUR PHYSICIAN
Is it dangerous if you take too much magnesium?
    In short, no.
As if you get to a high amount of magnesium, your body will eliminate in the bowels.
    Worst case scenario:
    You end up with diarrhoea.
If you have low stomach acid, you can take magnesium in lemon water or magnesium with water with a little bit of apple cider vinegar as that will help you assimilate the magnesium properly.
    Note:
    magnesium is eliminated through urine.
If you are pregnant you will need to take more magnesium
    How do you take it?
    Through vegetables - diet
    Digestion: magnesium citrate
    For sports: magnesium malate
    Recover: magnesium glycinate

I heard and read a lot about magnesium. It is said that calcium blocks magnesium absorption so you cannot take them at the same time. It is better to take magnesium with a vitamin D3 supplement also. Maybe vitamin K2 should be taken together with this combination too, if you are worried about bone health. I have a triple magnesium supplement from CVS, but I think I will switch to magnesium citrate because I am constipated. I think magnesium is better taken before you go to sleep.

I take a magnesium in powder form. A couple of teaspoon diluted in small amount of water. If you are getting running stool or diarrhea, that's too much. Just adjust the amount till your stool is in regular form.
It's good for muscle relaxant, sleep, regularity. I use Natural Calm brand, unflavored. Came recommended from fitness instructors who don't have enough time to stretch and relax their muscles between teaching classes.

This may sound silly but I appreciate that you deliver your message in a good rate of speech and using terms we can all understand. I consider myself an intelligent person, and I usually do not have any problems following along listening to things, but I have discovered a lot of people on UA-cam speak at an incredibly fast pace and throw in a lot of terms that some of us may not be familiar with. I understand why they do it and yes, I can understand most of it, but when you watch a few of these and there’s so much information to take in when this isn’t your area of expertise, the way you present the information is very helpful. Also, I am a speech and language therapist, so I feel that I am a good judge of communication skills. I really appreciate yours! Thank you so much, I’m now a subscriber!

Atrial fibrillation is treated with MgSO4 4,000 mg IV over 6 hrs plus KCl 40 meq po and repeat i 4 hrs. Heart rhythm will spontaneously convert to NSR. Probably all ACLS protocols should include IV MgSO4 for ATP production and SA node rhythm. The list goes on and on.
