Very disappointed! So minor changes after almost two years! You should name it OM 1.01. Please do more meaningful things to upgrade the OM-1: the sensor and the engine.

@@OMSYSTEMCameras Nonsense. From the release of the OM-1, you heard loud & clear that 20 MP was not enough, yet here we are in 2024 with the same sensor. Even a bump to 24 MP would have been expected.
The value is simply not there. I imagine new users will buy when OM-1 is not sold anymore. But I don't see many people interested in Olympus because alternatives are plenty, with useful features and less expensive. I will stick with OM-1 for as long as I can, but I don't see myself investing into m43 anymore.
It appears no one will be happy with anything by these comments so clearly you must make an individual camera for each specific person as they are just complaining. Yet if you did that they would then complain about the price. Unfortunately there is no winning of appeasing the masses. You guys make great stuff and a great value, keep doing just that!
Alright, welcomed improvements. OM System is treating it like Olympus did with their update philosophy. E-M1 / Mark II / Mark III - and then you get a new one? Like, new sensor, new body style, new Chip inside. I hope with Mark III you will give the community something truly amazing. Good job everyone for making the key-word „improvement“ really stand out. I mean that, because in todays culture people seem to think that we have to reinvent ourselves before we are worthy of a mark II version of ourselves. But that is unsustainable!!! that is somewhat disappointing, especially considering that the OM-1 seems to be totally capable. Such an approach has significant potential to bury interest in the OM brand as a whole. Most of those "upgrades" could have been introduced as update to the OM-1. The processor is the same; only the buffer size has increased. But how fast does it empty? On the OM-1, it's ready in around 17 seconds.
Bye then OM System. The human subject detection on OM1 is a joke, and that here will be no improvement to at least make it AS ADVERTISED on the OM1, well. At least my lenses can still be used on panasonic.

It is totally understandable to release a response to the g9II but the IBIS and better subject detection should be pushed also to the OM1. Mark 2 for pro's who need bigger buffer and a body somewhat more expensive because of that is also understandable. They should rethink that. People will vote with their money. Photographers unite
Thank you for your feedback! The OM-1 Mark II has increased internal memory and new optimized memory controls compared to the OM-1. As a result, it is not possible for the new features like Live GND and human subject detection to become available via a firmware upgrade to the OM-1.
I’ve just ordered mine. The tweaks are significant, to me, and in the areas I wanted. For wildlifer’s this will suit most of us and the professionals have given it the thumbs up. Personally I always carry two cameras (OM1 and the EM1 mk2) and now I will be able to set up the two new cameras more easily.
I initially heard that there was not a lot new in this but frankly that’s simply not true. It’s really an upgrade to existing features rather than new features ( although the grad nd is brilliant ) but these are fabulous upgrades.
I think they've really focused on landscape and macro shooters with this version. The original OM1 didn't do much for us but this is a whole different beast. I'm really interested in this model. The improved HiRes, the extra stop ND, and the ND grads is game changing! And "improved focus stacking", although they haven't said what that is...or I missed it. The AF and stabilization stuff I don't really care about but the new computational features make a big difference.
Years back, we would not have shown any third party product but we recognise it is very popular and it is what many of our ambassadors use - so we left it in. But as a rule we do not mention or endorse 3rd party product as we do not control the production.
I would have expected this to be more of an April Fool's joke. This is a case for a free update! It devalues the previous model. Who on earth is going to get involved in such unprofessional sales games?
I'm a long time user of Olympus and currently use an OM-1 which I basically like, but I'm definitely disappointed in the last 2 releases. Unfortunately this new camera is what the OM-5 could have been - packaged in a small and re-engineered body - not the re-purposed product that was delivered. I was hoping for a smaller companion - an everyday carry to go along with my OM-1. As a result I actually went with the Sony alpha C MkII and their small primes. Smaller and lighter than an OM-1. While I appreciate a couple of tweaks, the OM-1 MkII would have done better to match the specs of the Lumix G9 MkII. Missed opportunities IMO...
There were two zooms in the previous roadmap and one has just been launched (The 150-600mm). It was at a slightly different focal length than originally shown. We hope to bring you more details of the remaining lens in due course.

We plan to have more content over time and will see if we can add this to the list. We have been told that the focusing has improved in lower light situations. There is no feedback so far on noise levels
@OMSYSTEMCameras can you please fix the AF for shooting butterfly. still not working on the mark ii. it detects the butterfly as a 'target' but it thinks any circle markings on a butterfly wing is an 'eye'. this is incredibly frustrating, as the focus needs to be on the body, or not detect at all (and let me do it)

It is just a shame that the price of the new 150-600mm lens is so high, especially for a non-Pro lens. The older 100-400mm cost about €1250, the new 150-600mm lens more than double. For that money one can expect a Pro lens, especially since the 300mm Pro is also in this price range. Since Olympus became OM System I have only seen prices rise while product developments are slower and there are only minor differences compared to the predecessor (OM1 vs OM1 mkII). A 20MP sensor is still used, while competitors now use 47 & 50MP sensors in their cameras. As an Olympus user for almost 20 years, I am disappointed in these points.
Thanks for your views. The good news is that you can use a wide range of lenses on the G9 - including some of ours - the beauty of the MFT world. It is also true that the G9 is better at some things than us and the other way round. It all depends on what your primary focus is. Best of luck
Nobody needs 4 seconds of pro capture. What should have been improved is mitigating the difference in continuous autofocus tracking performance when pro capture is engaged.

The key difference is the option to have a 14 bit file which has a larger range of tonal values for each colour giving you more information to work with. The files sizes are larger but there is a lot more data. We hope to have some examples to share before too long although the nuances are tricky to show on many screens

This is a wide topic and one that goes beyond photography into marketing in general. We would love to debate this live if anyone is interested. In the end, our system has a collection of benefits that suits certain types of photography more than others. We often get asked why we do not talk about street photography. Well, that is because almost any modern small body and wide lens fits here so the chance to stand out is harder. It does not stop people from choosing to use OM if they like. Same for sports. Here the usual problem is that we are criticised for dynamic range or low light performance in things like indoor or night time games. On a sport field, the issue of portability is less of an issue than a trek up a mountain so bigger telephotos and bodies are an easier choice. There are many nuances too. Pro sports photographers want things like built in fast data transfer which some systems offer - we don't. Each manufacturer should focus on their strengths and talk to those who will benefit most first. That never stops others from using kit where it suits them. There is an apocryphal story that a certain California based Tech Brand who make popular phones focused all their marketing messaging on an imaginary guy called Tom who was single, 35 years old and liked certain things. It was to help them define how they advertised their product. It did not stop a billion other people buying it. Let's all separate how marketing works from the joy we all can get from photography with the kit that best suits us and what we do. @@OMSYSTEMCameras there seems to be a credibility gap in your sales promotion. I don't doubt the OM1 MK2 is a great camera because the MK1 is a great camera. You seem to be getting a lot of bad feedback because of the way it's promoted. Not a surprise to me having fallen foul of your recent UK Easter bargain sales promotion. I will explain - you advertised a camera bag at a great price. However, unbeknownst to your customers (including myself) you had no such item available to sell. When I clicked the link to purchase the Olympus street bag L I got Error 404, I tried multiple times per day. Turns out there was no item available to purchase even though it was clearly highlighted in your sale. This has certainly damaged your credibility with me and I am a life long Olympus fan.
Great features indeed. However, it would be great to see and OM1X with 25MP: it will be, at that point, Leica M10 territory. Remarkably. all my street work is done on an EM1 MKiii and it is au pair with more snubbish work done by the all wannabe Cartier-Bresson of Central London.
Do you honestly believe you would be able to discern a difference in image quality between the current 20MP and a 25MP sensor. Take a look at the same subject taken with and OM1/OM1 mark II and a Panasonic G9II with the same lens and see if you can. I know I can't.
If only it were that simple. "They" as in our ambassadors use the system because they like it. They like everyone have some things they would like to be different as with anything. In these previews we asked them to pick out what they liked but you will notice plenty of caveats. As we get tired of saying - there is plenty of choice for everyone in the market
I'm not going to complain about what is being released here. What is released is great. But i will say that if OM Systems starts turning into another Sony that only adds improvements and New features to new camera bodies, i will never buy again.
We put some extra ram in it, change the name and raise the price. Then all we need are "specialists" like this one who is parroting what Om system told him to say. Et voila, a "new" camera!

A complete disappointment. Just a few minor improvements in no way create a new generation. This is in no way Mark 2. This is Mark 1.2. We need a breakthrough technology. And this expectation has not been met.

Anyone who sees this as a disappointment is talking from their view. Since I don’t own a camera it’s not a disappointment to me. It’s an informed choice.

And even for a wildlife photographer... A 150-600mm non Pro lens with that price? come on!!! the 100-400mm was about €1250 and the 300mm Pro was €2700 - now a non Pro 150-600mm for €2700. Are they kidding me? For that price you may expect a Pro lens!

Upgrading from the EM1 markII to OM1-MarkII was a big big jump, so YES. Got mine last week and I am very happy with the purchase.

For real estate this camera is really nice. Stabilizer is perfect. The GND filter for outdoors. In-camera HDR.

Where is the new 150mm f2.0, we need one!!!
We also need a 12-75mm f/2.8
… and not to forget a new 2.0/35-100. The good old FT one is still my favorite lens on my E-M1 Mk.II.
...and for travel use, we need a lens to fit in between the 8-25 and the 100-400 - all f/4.0 PRO

The mark ii does has better ibis. From 7 stops on the om1 m1 to 8.5 stops on the mark 2

Thanks for your views. The good news is that you can use a wide range of lenses on the G9 - including some of ours - the beauty of the MFT world. It is also true that the G9 is better at some things than us and the other way round. It all depends on what your primary focus is. Best of luck
Nobody needs 4 seconds of pro capture. What should have been improved is mitigating the difference in continuous autofocus tracking performance when pro capture is engaged.

Improvements in the handheld Highres mode ? If there are such then I will buy it.
The key difference is the option to have a 14 bit file which has a larger range of tonal values for each colour giving you more information to work with. The files sizes are larger but there is a lot more data. We hope to have some examples to share before too long although the nuances are tricky to show on many screens

I’ve been holding out for an OM-1X……..but I dunno I may have to go with this. Amazing upgrades to an already stellar camera!
The grip provides a similar feel why leaving the option for a more compact body when needed

This is a wide topic and one that goes beyond photography into marketing in general. We would love to debate this live if anyone is interested. In the end, our system has a collection of benefits that suits certain types of photography more than others. We often get asked why we do not talk about street photography. Well, that is because almost any modern small body and wide lens fits here so the chance to stand out is harder. It does not stop people from choosing to use OM if they like. Same for sports. Here the usual problem is that we are criticised for dynamic range or low light performance in things like indoor or night time games. On a sport field, the issue of portability is less of an issue than a trek up a mountain so bigger telephotos and bodies are an easier choice. There are many nuances too. Pro sports photographers want things like built in fast data transfer which some systems offer - we don't. Each manufacturer should focus on their strengths and talk to those who will benefit most first. That never stops others from using kit where it suits them. There is an apocryphal story that a certain California based Tech Brand who make popular phones focused all their marketing messaging on an imaginary guy called Tom who was single, 35 years old and liked certain things. It was to help them define how they advertised their product. It did not stop a billion other people buying it. Let's all separate how marketing works from the joy we all can get from photography with the kit that best suits us and what we do. @@OMSYSTEMCameras there seems to be a credibility gap in your sales promotion. I don't doubt the OM1 MK2 is a great camera because the MK1 is a great camera. You seem to be getting a lot of bad feedback because of the way it's promoted.
Not a surprise to me having fallen foul of your recent UK Easter bargain sales promotion. I will explain - you advertised a camera bag at a great price. However, unbeknownst to your customers (including myself) you had no such item available to sell. When I clicked the link to purchase the Olympus street bag L I got Error 404, I tried multiple times per day. Turns out there was no item available to purchase even though it was clearly highlighted in your sale. This has certainly damaged your credibility with me and I am a life long Olympus fan.

Great features indeed. However, it would be great to see and OM1X with 25MP: it will be, at that point, Leica M10 territory. Remarkably. all my street work is done on an EM1 MKiii and it is au pair with more snubbish work done by the all wannabe Cartier-Bresson of Central London.
Do you honestly believe you would be able to discern a difference in image quality between the current 20MP and a 25MP sensor. Take a look at the same subject taken with and OM1/OM1 mark II and a Panasonic G9II with the same lens and see if you can. I know I can't.

Heavy lenses. Camera strap on the body? Hmmmmm. Most would not want that moment arm torque on the lens mount. I guess OMsys changed the physics here?
They get their gear for free so as long as they say good things about it!
If only it were that simple. "They" as in our ambassadors use the system because they like it. They like everyone have some things they would like to be different as with anything. In these previews we asked them to pick out what they liked but you will notice plenty of caveats. As we get tired of saying - there is plenty of choice for everyone in the market

OM SYSTEM is a Japanese company. Why do I never see any Japanese presenters/techs/ambassadors?

I'm not going to complain about what is being released here. What is released is great. But i will say that if OM Systems starts turning into another Sony that only adds improvements and New features to new camera bodies, i will never buy again.

A complete disappointment. Just a few minor improvements in no way create a new generation. This is in no way Mark 2. This is Mark 1.2. We need a breakthrough technology. And this expectation has not been met.

But the em1mk3 was bassicly a em1mk2 with a joystick … tbh this is a simalar upgrade

Since I don’t own a camera it’s not a disappointment to me. It’s an informed choice.

We’ve all but been shaking OMS by the shoulders begging them for a new Pen F and this is what we get.😡 It’s no wonder their market share is the worst in the camera industry when they ignore everything but wildlife photographers.

And even for a wildlife photographer... A 150-600mm non Pro lens with that price? come on!!! the 100-400mm was about €1250 and the 300mm Pro was €2700 - now a non Pro 150-600mm for €2700. Are they kidding me? For that price you may expect a Pro lens!
@@johankaethoven4730well if you want a pro lens that go to 1200 mm you have a canon lens, it’s ”only” ~28000 €=10 x more… That’s the only lens that go to 1200 mm I have found. That’s expensive!

Also mir erscheint es so als ob sich OM System wenigstens für alle Firmenfotografen (Ambassadore) zu interessieren und wahrscheinlich auch zu kaufen, klasse. Aber ob jene Firma damit so richtig Geld machen wird? werden es erleben. Man hätte besser eine neue bessere Pen-F herausgebracht!
