@DoRC yes that is what when I multiplicate the kv with the 8s voltage but I do not know why the maker does not mention it anywhere! Neither that mention the highest torque value at a specified rpm so one could know how much he need to turn the motor to get the best performance from the motor without over revving it, that could also damage the motor!
Yes but I sent them couple of emails because I wish to know which is the optimum rpm because they stated that it the new esc and motor are up to 20% stronger from the previous version, so I think that they had made some tests to calculate the outcome and difference so I would like to know if it is for example at 40,000rpm or higher!
Could I use the Max6 G2 or Max8 G2 paired with the EZRUN 4278 SD (2250KV) motor on a 1/10 car for speedruns and maybe somewhat bashing (I mean drift attempts or something)?
Sure. The motor will only draw as much current as it is capable of regardless of how large of an ESC you put behind it. That being said you need to make sure that you take care not to exceed the maximum RPM of the motor by putting to higher voltage to it as that could physically blow it apart. The Max 5 G2 also has 8 mm terminals on it for the motor so you would have to swap out the stock 6.5 mm terminals on the 4278 if you're going to use that. I'm not sure how much advantage you would get out of them on such a small motor though cuz again it's the motor that determines the ultimate power output and once you reach that limit on the motor you're not going to get anything out of a larger ESC unless of course you're going higher voltage which again runs into that potential physical RPM limit though.
@@DoRC I want to go fast haha. So in a 1/10 scale car, that's why I'm thinking using a big motor and ESC comparatively would help me get to high top speeds. I would like to use 6S lipo power, btw.
@RiverTheNerd I would consider starting with a Max 8 G2 combo and going from there. Ultimately even with that you're probably going to end up traction limited before you end up power limited so that might be a good starting point.

My dude please don’t say that’s a good solder. You need to fill the cup and rest the wire in a bed of solder, completely filling the connector brass. Otherwise love it! Can’t wait for a max 6g2!
Going to have to disagree with you there. Any solder that isn't directly attaching the wire to the connector is just excess solder. As long as the strands of the wire are completely embedded in the solder and that solder is completely attached to the connector it's a good connection. I've been doing this for many many years and have never had a problem with any of my solder connections.
@@DoRC to each their own! Amperage is limited by the thickness of the wire. Without proper solder the amperage level decreases, especially continuous. Also need to tin completely around the wires, not just the top before soldering them. If you haven’t had any fail you don’t push the rigs. My 2 cents
@@brokenmanmx The wires were tinned from the factory. I was just mixing a little bit of leaded solder in with the solder that was already there to make it flow better. I push my stuff hard. As long as the wire is fully penetrated with solder and the connection around It makes full contact with that solder around the connector you're good. Putting a bunch of excess solder in there isn't going to hurt but it also really doesn't do much.
@vitodambra72 Yeah people think that the only way to get a good connection is get every possible drop of solder you can in the connector but especially with these QS8s where the connector is so much larger than the wire It's really just not necessary.

@user-ig1tt1jq9n the gear was damaged previously and I had ground the damaged parts of the teeth off that I could see but that doesn't mean they weren't still damaged. @@DoRC yeah i’m thinking of the 1250kv combo.
the castle is like 200$ more for like a 1717 (1650kv)
Do you think this combo will be ok it the lighter XRT?
I don't think I'd go with this motor. It's pretty small. I'd go with the 56 90 instead. The ESC should be fine now
@@DoRC got it. Thanks, man
Going to get into 200+ mph speed runs?
Nah. I don't really have any place to do speed runs. I'm more of an off-road guy anyway. I'll leave the speed runs up to the speedrun guys :-)
How long it will last on 11.1V 5700mah battery?
Depends on too many factors to give you an answer. Sorry
Now We just wait for the g3 😂😂
I think that's going to be a while.
Kindly do you know what is the maximum rpm of the 1650kv motor?
Doesn't look like the maximum RPM is listed but It's rated for 8S and is 1650 KV so I would imagine it's around 55 or 60,000 RPM.
@@josephcaruana9165 electric motors product 100% torque at 0 RPM so no need to calculate that. But yeah not showing all specs is annoying.
@josephcaruana9165 definitely would be nice to know.
omgi just want to cuddle that motor like it's my newborn, and i think i'm gonna stuff one in my FIRETEAM.
Yeah too bad I snapped the head off of mine :-(
@@DoRC 😮
How can you fix broken motor shaft?
Can't be fixed. HW sells a few replacements but not for this motor unfortunately.
@@DoRCwill they replace it if the shaft breaks
@@andresvillagomez75 Not sure. They wouldn't warranty mine but I wasn't really asking them to since I felt like it was my fault it broke.
@@DoRC alright, thank you. I've been trying to keep the price as low as I can with good performance, and the Max6 G2 was the same price, so I was like "eh maybe I'll go for it." I haven't bought anything yet as this hobby is becoming more expensive the more I research.
@RiverTheNerd Well if the max 6 G2 is the same price then go for that. As long as it'll physically fit there's no reason not to go bigger if you can.
Is the fan on the esc supposed to run all the time?
No. These come on only when the temperature in the ESC reaches a certain point
@@DoRC awesome thanks
@bplotts1 You're welcome!
Can the motor fit in a notorious
Not with the stock mount. That would be way to much power for most uses anyway. You'd definitely be breaking things
My 2 cents
@@DoRCyes i agree with you 💯 and i have doing this hobby since early 90’s also worked half that time in a hobby shop building lots and services
Sad about the motor shaft, I might get one of these Max 6 G2\4990 1,650KV combos for my future Limitless V2 or XO-1 i hear you about the Bluetooth only programming i've never used Bluetooth to program an ESC before so this will be a first when i get mine. Hobbywing is definitely killing it with these new G2 systems Castle better watch out.
Yeah I'm bummed about the shaft too. Especially since it's completely my fault. The gear was damaged to begin with and was giving me every warning sign that it was unhappy. It was the only gear I had though for the task And I thought I could get away with it. I was wrong.
Hobbywing is sending me a max6 g2 Bluetooth .
Sweet!
Really not good this move into Bluetooth programming..too much tech ,all that sensored stuff takes away the purity of bashing.Middle off nowhere , RC,controller and less worry.✌️
I agree. I don't mind them adding the Bluetooth option but I feel like making it the only option was silly.
Dont knock ir till u try it just got g2 4990 for mojave and its awsome. Alot smoother and the app it gteat not fiddling around with beeps on the esc and plugging in the program card.
THATS TERRIBLE THE SHAFT SHOULD NOT BREAK NO EXCUSES
I disagree. When a gear breaks the teeth can get jammed between the two gears and it puts a ton of force on the shaft. I really don't blame the shaft for this. It's pretty much completely my fault. The gear sounded terrible and was getting really hot. I should have known it was going to fail.
@@DoRCwhat are the warning signs of teeth about to break ?????
@user-ig1tt1jq9n the gear was damaged previously and I had ground the damaged parts of the teeth off that I could see but that doesn't mean they weren't still damaged. The gear was also making terrible noises and getting very hot Even though it was meshed properly. It's one of the pitfalls of making videos. My drive to release the video tends to make me ignore things like that. It was the only gear I had that was appropriate so it was the gear I was using.
That motor owed him nothing. Everyone I know with a 8s exb runs motors with 8mm shafts. That's a 30 plus pound truck. If that gear broke and jammed while tumbling that 5mm shaft absolutely should break.
