  • I finally had it with my Troy Bilt messing up and replaced it with a new Stihl KM 91 R. I love it! Plus, I found that my current Troy Bilt Trimmer plus attachments work with the Kombisystem.
    Let's also take a look at the front yard after the Xgrn application!
    It's greeeeeeen!

    So just to clear this out
    A 4 mix engine is a 4 stroke engine ( has rockers and valves ) however it uses mixed fuel for lubrication

    I basically have the same story as you. I bought junk from Lowe’s it breaks down etc etc. So I went to the Stihl dealer 5 minutes from my house, spent the extra money and bought the 91R and it is just night and day difference. The power and balance is just next level. I can’t even imagine how powerful the bigger ones are. From now on I will not buy any of my lawn gear that I use all the time from a big box store. I went ahead and bought the Stihl straight shaft trimmer and and curved edger. I didn’t want to have any discrepancies with the dealer about warranty issues.

      @TheOnefalcon07 2 роки тому

      So the 91r is powerful enough? I've been looking into them and wasn't sure if I should go 91r or the 131. Huge difference in price, but if the 91r has enough power I'll just get that one

      @@TheOnefalcon07 yeah man. I bought the kombi so I do everything with it. Edge hedge trimmers and string trimming. The only time it ever struggles at all is if I have a worn out blade for the edger but I just keep a pack of 10 of them. They’re like $3 each. Also I replaced the string trimmer head with the echo quick feed head. That’s pretty common practice on all the stihl trimmers.

      @@JonBecker81 awesome! Looks like I'm gonna save some money with the 91r and not the 131. In today's economy 120 bucks saved is great.

      @@YardGuy nice. I had hit the lawn with the sprinklers and then a few days later we got a pretty good downpour a few times since then. I really need to mow the front now. Ran out of time when I mowed the back and side.

    It'll be hard to convince me to switch from my Stihl equipment. The trimmer and blower I've got are solid. I just keep stair-stepping up as the budget allows. The Kombi is definitely in the future.

    Those stihl trimmers are expensive but they will last a very long time if you take care of it. That motor is a 4 stroke that uses 2 stroke mix gas. You do have to periodically adjust the valves on it.

    You save money by not replacing cheap crap every 2 years with more cheap crap, your wife should thank you (hold your breath, it'll come any second). In addition to saving money, you get to use something nicer, and the right tool always does a better job in more ways than one. Thanks for the video.

    Troybilt isn’t what it used to be 15 years ago. Really anything made by MTD I stay away from now. Knowing what I know now it’s worth it to buy pro grade stuff. Glad to see the attachments work with the stihl! Stihl charges a premium for those attachments. Same as echo. Only thing I don’t like about echo is the expensive attachments. I saw another vid a couple months ago of a guy swapping attachments between 3 different brands to see what would work with what. That should save you some money. The stihl should last you a long time great investment.

    Hey man great video and thanks for sharing. I’m looking to pull the trigger on this; mainly for brush cutting through tall grass and thorn bushes. Do you recommend this model or do you think I need to go 131R? I am not doing it every day and will be a few times a year I would brush cut to help keep the invasive vines down that come from the rose bushes in my area. Thanks!

    • @TheLawnStripes
      @TheLawnStripes  2 роки тому +1

      I personally haven't used it for brush cutting. I use the tiller, and it works fine. I could say sure because it has quite a bit of power, but if the brush is really thick, maybe the next step up for power might not be bad. It's better overpowered than under when it comes to that stuff in my opinion.

    • @everettdurst1
      @everettdurst1 2 роки тому

      If you get the adjustable hedge trimmer (get the one they call a scythe), it will tunnel through blackberries like a magic wand and power doesn't seem to be a factor, just maximum brush size. I will say it's easy to cut everything off a stout bush and leave just a 4 foot high stump to cut with the right tool. The metal grass blade will too, but I think that three point metal brush knife is the thing to have. I haven't seen it myself, but the videos make it look far superior to the grass blade, and I saw a guy using it to saw about 3" trees. He might have had the hands of a gorilla, I don't know, but it was sawing through the tree, even after he hit it hard against a cinder block.

    Some will work and some won’t, when you look at the non Stihl attachments you will notice some of the drive shaft are more recessed into the tube than others. Obviously if they are to recessed they will not work we or at all.

    Reading the manual for this model, it's calling for mixed fuel... Hearing it in the video it sounds like a 4-stroke.. So I'm thinking wtf is this?? Best I can deduce is this is a 4 stroke that is fuel-lubricated. I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I go to buy one.

    • @TheLawnStripes
      @TheLawnStripes  4 роки тому

      Yeah it's some odd newer engine they made. It definitely sounds like a hefty 4 stroke at idle but is a 2 stroke. Iunno 🤷‍♂️
