Similar jump for my plane. Went from a PC12 to P300E. Operating cost is more but less hours per trip helps offset it some. Rarely went coast to coast in the PC12 but now anywhere in the country is easy with just a quick fuel stop. Being based in SFLA. Made it back from Vegas non stop with a light tailwind💪🏼
How sad is it to see the ASCII codes on the checklist? Would it have been difficult for them to write a test to look for that sort of thing in the little text file they use to create the checklists? Someone should collect the full startup videos for these various starter level single-pilot turbine planes. I love seeing it from master on to taxi roll. I hope you are keeping the TBM. That was a ForeFlight development flight. Total write off. YOU HAVE A FOREFLIGHT CALLSIGN! That's so cool.
@@JasonFlies great to here you are doing well! Are we gonna see an upgrade to the 940 in the future? The auto throttle and emergency auto land are very cool features
@@JasonFlies I do like your interior more than mine..... Training has been going slower than I like, work keeps getting in the way. G1000 took 10 or so hours before I got over the feeling of being lost, 20 years of flying steam gauges in bonanza. Your videos are great. Thanks. Im sure they are a lot of work.
I use this, generally ok but you can't tell if it is working until you get home and review the footage. www.nflightcam.com/collections/cables/products/nflightcam-audio-solution-for-gopro-hero5
Is the G3000 checklist standard or did Tyson add it? I fly a C510 G1000 Nxi and have debated about getting the aftermarket one. Nice CRM guys. I rarely fly with a copilot but you guys made it look smooth.
Jason, what do you prefer between that and your TBM? We are looking at the Citation M2 or a TBM 900, 910, 930, 940. What would you recommend? PM me if able. Awesome video!
The M2 is certainly faster but the operating costs of the TBM are a good bit less. Additionally, the training/insurance requirements tend to be a bit more relaxed for the TBM. As for which TBM, it's just a matter of what avionics you want vs how much of a price premium you are willing to pay for them. Plus, the supply of planes might be a bit limited right now, so that might shape which you go with. Most 900s have the NXi now, so they are then very similar to a 910.
Ignoring the opportunity cost of the capital and the depreciation, I'd say the M2 is maybe twice the hourly cost of the TBM. ~700/hr for the TBM and more like ~1300 for the M2. That assumes more like 100-150 hours per year though, the cost per hour goes up with fewer of course.
@@JasonFlies The added comfort is a game changer, especially for a young family. Line the lav toilet with some of the camping potty bags from REI and you're set. You have had great success and as such your family deserves the safest airplane platform in the sky, and also one of the most comfortable!
@@DanFrederiksen it can take a lot of time. My videos (not with a tbm but with a very french Robin DR400) can take a day to be generated at 1080p and 4K takes a bit more...

Thanks to both of you for sharing.
Thanks!
That Garmin 3000 is rock star quality. The Proline has been put on notice!
Yeah, some of it certainly has a learning curve, but I was liking it!
Awesome stuff! Love the corona box!
It was appropriately filled with beer too! :). Thanks for the amazing adventure!
Love that you showed the set-up prior to taxi . . .
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing....That was very nice flying!!!
Very enjoyable flights. Well done.
Many thanks!

Those ASCII were from some bad edits that were made by the crew - so ignore those. Still loving the TBM!
How much range does the M2 have? You did that non stop?
My dream is to fly in one of these.
Are you doing alright Jason?
All is well, thanks for checking in! :) Just not going to the trouble of filming/editing much recently...

Your videos broke me down.... I just closed escrow on TBM900.
Congrats!!!!!! I am biased, but I LOVE it!

what a great paint job! Mine is 1072 so very close on the assembly line

The most important thing to me was viewing take off and you didn't film that nor landing. The plane is a beauty
What is your audio setup? Really good. I struggle to get descent audio out of the intercom with the GoPro adapter. Nice video, really enjoyed it!

Thanks! Pretty sure Tyson made those checklists using the Garmin tool on his PC and then put them on the SD card in the G3000

From a Canadian, we are generally super constructive...
"Oh, that's nice." - Jason noticing a new audio cue on landing, the runway remaining. Excellent.
:) I did like that feature, especially in a fast moving jet
Jason - why aren't you in a Citation?
TBM has been perfect sweet spot of speed/cost/training-requirements and payload so far - but multi-engine sure is awesome!

There should be less talking. Simplify your takeoff briefing.
Very nice dialog before to take off and during very nice cockpit Managment
You must be very rich wow.
I'm sorry guys but all that Garmin glass and still just way way to much work load for my taste for a 4 passenger puddle jumper ...
ok
