Hi miss thanks for sharing those skills really hopefully am asking am I supposed to wash my hands after every skill done or only verbally say it ,thank you
Hi, Essie! It depends on which Authorized Administrator you are testing under. Pearson Vue, Credentia, and Prometric requires candidates to verbalize "washing hands" whenever required to do so after initially washing hands with actual water and soap ( Hand Hygiene skill). Headmaster, on the other hand, requires candidates to use hand sanitizer whenever required to wash hands after performing Hand Hygiene.
Hi, Amar! If you are testing under Pearson Vue or Credentia, body mechanics is not emphasized. If you are testing under Prometric, body mechanics is emphasized and must be employed during testing.
At 6:00 I thought we weren’t allowed to tell the resident to not tell them that we’re doing respirations but to just tell them that we’re doing vital signs instead. Am I confused? Also my I’m being tested under D&S with credentia it was 5 skills but is D&S similar or is there difference since thier skills are combined?
Do we have to explain every step while doing the clinicals to the examiner? I know explaining it to the resident is pertinent but as far as every step is it neccessary?
yeah sadly, so that they know you know what youre doing. the examiner wants to see you know, and are talking to resident. its kinda weird and confusing but ive been getting more comfortable lately lol
Ms J can a correction be made after a skill is complete and the next skill has started? Or can a correction be made only during a skill before it is completed?

@@NURSEJAR Thank you so much for answering my questions! This might be a stupid question, but before we actually wash hands would we do open procedures with resident before doing so? Hi, Edna! I strongly encourage students/candidates to verbalize everything you do, even with skills you'll perform on self, such as Hand Hygiene. Doing so will help keep your mind off of the Evaluator and keep you focused on what you are doing.
Nope they still do it, but they use different catheters now and in most states they don't allow CNA's to catheter the patients only do perineal care and elimination.
She did offer the wipes and toilet paper and stepped out so that she can give her privacy. Which part are you asking her about? Maybe we all missed it!
OK. So you did catheter care and handled potentially infectious material, and then went straight to the faucet without doffing the dirty gloves first before touching the faucet handles? What am I missing? @18:04 "I'm going to dispose of my gloves without contaminating myself." Meanwhile you've contaminated multiple surfaces in the room. Is this what State licensing boards are teaching CNA's to pass the skills exams these days? We need to do better.
@user-qr8ki8ue4i I started my nursing career as an ICU nurse. Trust me, I understand your concerns. I fought this battle in 2013, and I asked the same question amongst many others. The states and Authorized Administrators do not communicate with one another when it comes to determining the steps of the manual skills. After the 11th NCSBN, I knew I was fighting a losing battle! Most of the testable skills are and have to be abbreviated for testing, as candidates are given a certain amount of time to complete 4-5 skills. But, rest assured, we instructors train our students on how these tasks should properly be performed in real life during Lecture/Lab and Clinical. But, we also have to train them on how it is required to be performed for testing.
@@NURSEJAR Thank you for providing such excellent insight and context! I thought I was going nuts for a minute. I never knew about the "disconnect" between State regulators, examiners, BON's, etc.

I thought they stop doing catheter care in the gna skills exam, just asking?
Nope they still do it, but they use different catheters now and in most states they don't allow CNA's to catheter the patients only do perineal care and elimination.
Nurse jar, when you were saving the bedpan, you didn't offer the wipes and toilet paper to the patient and you didn't self correct.
She did offer the wipes and toilet paper and stepped out so that she can give her privacy. Which part are you asking her about? Maybe we all missed it!
do they only use females? I haven't seen a male video
Hi, Marianne! Yes! For testing, only female mannequins are used for mannequin skills.
What do you mean by 1000
Is their math for cna ?
Hi, Juana! You'll need to know how to convert ounces into milliliters and kilograms into pounds.
Hha
I liked your performance but i was told you have to leave the bed on the lowest level.
That is totally not true
Hi, L! Why don't you pioneer this effort and contact each state's NCSBN.
@@NURSEJAR Great idea. As a hospital RN, it confuses me why CNA testing skills would differ from hospital infection control practices.
@user-qr8ki8ue4i Yep! It's been like that for many years!
What a waste of water
