I honestly think there is racism behind this quiet luxury trend. Because ever since the female rappers like Cardi B started rapping about Birkins and then you saw more younger influencers start buying Hermes. All of a sudden, certain people (yt people) start producing these videos about how luxury isn’t the same anymore and they are not into logos everywhere. Hence the “quiet” luxury trend was born.
I think it’s a way to control black people from wanting those once considered “unattainable” luxury brands.
I remember being on the purse forum back in the early 2000’s, those (yt) people were proudly flaunting their LOGOS everywhere. Heck, they even flaunted their luxury bag collections here on UA-cam right up until black female rappers started rapping about and wearing luxury items.
That’s my two cents on this topic. Wear what you wanna wear, don’t be controlled.
(By the way for those who don’t know yt stands for white people)

Everything is not about race. Some of us black folks can afford the same things as the whites.
@BlackBeauty-yl8uq I don't think she was saying that blacks can't afford it, they can which is why they shift the narrative to "quiet luxury". Now what they deem as luxurious is accessible to blacks then they change the aesthetic for perceived socioeconomic superiority and class as to not be associated with the urban market.

And it reminds me of when blacks move into predominately white neighborhoods and some whites automatically put their house on the market to move out.
Its the same thing.
They want to keep us in “our place”.
But we everywhere in 2023!! Get used to it.
I get that, but I also think times are changing, As a millenial, watching Gen Z come up, I admire that their focus(likely as it pertains to their literal survival) has shifted toward brands they feel aligned with. They're less interested in wealth signifiers(regardless of the intent of the wearer) and sort of look at it as being indicative of an exiting era. That said, I completely agree with you in terms of how it has been weaponized by the "haves." I think it's regional as well. As a New Yorker, quiet luxury has been used(albeit under a different name) by the old money crowd for as long as I can remember. I didn't grow up proximal to that kind of wealth, but because of where I live, that language has always been prevalent. So it's nuanced.

Hi Tan! I purchase luxury based on simply what I prefer. I don’t have a particular item per se that I collect, like you I just love what I love…no preference on quiet vs loud luxury😊
Hi Tan, that yellow( I think that it is a top but I wasn't sure) looks great on you. That Gucci scarf is just beautiful. My only opinion on the quiet vs loud luxury topic is that you should not wear head to toe loud luxury. I understand that you can wear whatever you want but I personally feel that if you look like a walking billboard for a brand and they are not paying you then it is a bit much. I've learned something new today; thanks for sharing the differences between quiet luxury and loud/logo luxury:) You're right, I don't believe in dressing to make someone else feel some sort of way or even hiding your items to prevent others from getting in their feelings. You love what you love:) I absolutely love watching your luxury hauls and recommendations.
